In wire transmission systems using a coaxial cable or cable pair, the cable loss caused by the transmission characteristic of the cable varies depending on the length of the cables or variation in the ambient temperature, and usually takes the form close to a $\sqrt f$ characteristic. In order to compensiate for such loss, an actove variable automatic equalizer with a tandam combination of feedback and feedforward was presented. The automatic equalizer to be described here overcomes many of the disadbantages associated with the conventional passive variable equalizers, which include the need for inducters, a complex design procedure, and incompatibility with modern dldctronic control systems that are very complicated. This design has advanatges over other active variable equalizer design and it is especially applicable to precision equalization at frequencies bellow 1MHz.

A novel bidirectional magnetic wireless communication system is proposed in this study. This system provides the communication capability between the source and load sides by high-frequency signal while wireless power is transferred. Contrary to the conventional wireless communication systems using complex IC circuit and active components, the proposed system is simply composed of passive components. It is practical and beneficial for environmental robustness, cost effectiveness, and simple implementation. The detailed static analysis of the proposed system for power and communication lines is established. The proposed system is experimentally verified, and results show that a 0.1 voltage gain for communication line is obtained while a 2.0 voltage gain for the power line is achieved. The proposed system is adequate for practical applications as it allows the inductive power transfer system to wirelessly and easily communicate between the source and load sides.

HM10411 is a recombinant granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (rG-CSF) that has been developing as a drug for neutropenia. In this study, antigenic potential of HM10411 was examined by active systemic anaphylaxis (ASA) in guinea pigs and passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) in guinea pig-guinea pig system. HM10411 was subcutaneously administered at 0,5, and 50 mg/kg and also as a suspension with adjuvant (50 mg/kg+FCA). Ovalbumin (OVA) as a suspension with adjuvant was used to induce positive control responses. In the ASA test, no symptoms except urination and evacuation that were considered as physiological phenomena were observed at 0 and 5 mg/kg. Two of 5 animals at 50 mg/kg showed sneering, dyspnea, or cyanosis. All animals in the adjuvant mixture group showed severe symptoms of anaphylatic shock and 3 of them died. In the PCA test, no antibody against HM 10411 was detected in the sera from the animals sensitized with 0 or 5 mg/kg. Only 1 serum sample from the animals immunized with 50 mg/kg showed positive reaction against HM10411, while all 5 sera collected from the HM10411 and FCA mixture group contained the HM10411-specific antibodies. These results suggest HM10411 is considered to have antigenicity In guinea pig.
Modular multilevel converter (MMC)-based high-voltage direct current (HVDC) presents attractive technical advantages and contributes to enhanced system operation and reduced oscillation damping in dynamic MMC-HVDC systems. We propose an advanced small-signal multi-terminal MMC-HVDC based on dynamic phasors and state space for power system stability analysis to enhance computational accuracy and reduce simulation time. In accordance with active and passive network control strategies for multi-terminal MMC-HVDC, the matchable small-signal stability models containing high harmonics and dynamics of internal variables are conducted, and a related theoretical derivation is carried out. The proposed advanced small-signal model is then compared with electromagnetic-transient and traditional small-signal state-space models by adopting a typical multi-terminal MMC-HVDC network with offshore wind generation. Simulation indicates that the advanced small-signal model can successfully follow the electromechanical transient response with small errors and can predict the damped oscillations. The validity and applicability of the proposed model are effectively confirmed.

One of the obstacles for a magnetic bearing to be used in the wide range of industrial applications is the failure modes associated with magnetic bearings, which we don't expect for conventional passive bearings. These failure modes include electric power outage, power amplifier faults, position sensor faults, and the malfunction of controllers. Fault-tolerant magnetic bearing systems have been proposed so that the system can operate in spite of some faults in the system. In this paper, we designed a fault-tolerant magnetic bearing system for a turbo-molecular vacuum pump. The system can cope with the actuator/amplifier faults which are the most common faults in a magnetic bearing system. We implemented the existing fault-tolerant algorithms to experimentally prove the adequacy of the algorithms for industrial applications. As it turns out, the system can operate even with three simultaneously failing poles out of eight actuator poles.
Purpose: This ethnography was performed to explore patterns and meanings of healthy life among aged women using senior centers. Methods: The informants were 21 individuals aged 65 years and older at 2 community-based senior centers. Data were collected from iterative fieldwork through in-depth interviews and participant observations and analyzed using text analysis and taxonomic methods developed by Spradley. Field notes were used with follow-up interviews and dialogue between authors to enhance interpretation. Results: Patterns of healthy life among aged women using senior centers were categorized by age groups within the context of the four cultural elements of taking care of the body, relationality, temporality, and spatiality: active and passive control, maintenance of interdependence and individuality, expansion and maintenance of the daily routine, unity of peer relations and sustenance of family relations, spending time productively and tediously, and complementary and alternative space of the family relations. Conclusion: The informants in this study demonstrated healthy life by maintaining and strengthening continuous relationships developed in the senior centers without being isolated from the family and society. Patterns of their healthy life differed across age groups within the socio-cultural context. Therefore, interventions should be tailored to address age groups and community needs.
Objectives: This article reviewed researches on intersectoral partnership of school health programs to suggest importance, current status and development plan of those. Methods: Domestic research papers were screened though Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), Koreanstudies Information Service System (KISS), Medical Library Information System (MEDLIS), Korean Medical Database (KMbase), and digital national assembly library. International papers were searched mainly via Pubmed. Results: Since intersectoral partnership is effective, comprehensive and universal approach for school health programs, many collaborative programs are universally progressing in various domain including smoking, alcohol, mental health and sexual behavior. On the other hand, intersectoral partnership of school health programs in Korea is still in the beginning stage, and there are few intersectoral partnerships. Moreover, there are several limitations including top-down approach, passive participation and lack of studies on the effect of intersectoral partnership. However, intersectoral partnerships in school health program including tuberculosis control system in school or WEE project are in progress, so it is worth looking forward in the future. Conclusions: To achieve successful intersectoral partnership in school health programs, appropriate partnership guideline for Korean society, policy support, active participation and improvement of consciousness in community stakeholders are needed.

In existing identification methods for on-orbit spacecraft, such as eigensystem realization algorithm (ERA) and subspace method identification (SMI), singular value decomposition (SVD) is used frequently to estimate the modal parameters. However, these identification methods are often used to process the linear time-invariant system, and there is a lower computation efficiency using the SVD when the system order of spacecraft is high. In this study, to improve the computational efficiency in identifying time-varying modal parameters of large spacecraft, a faster recursive algorithm called fast approximated power iteration (FAPI) is employed. This approach avoids the SVD and can be provided as an alternative spacecraft identification method, and the latest modal parameters obtained can be applied for updating the controller parameters timely (e.g. the self-adaptive control problem). In numerical simulations, two large flexible spacecraft models, the Engineering Test Satellite-VIII (ETS-VIII) and Soil Moisture Active/Passive (SMAP) satellite, are established. The identification results show that this recursive algorithm can obtain the time-varying modal parameters, and the computation time is reduced significantly.

Reduction of a ship's rolling is the most important performance requirement for improving the safety of the crew on board and preventing damage to cargos as well as improving the comfort of the ride. A mass driving anti-rolling system (MO-ARS) might be one candidate of several systems against the ship's rolling. In this paper, three types of MD-ARS, two passive and one active devices, are developed for small ships. After they are installed on the cabin of the small leisure boat, respectively, a series of performance test is conducted before and after operating them. Through the test, it is confirmed that the roll responses of the ship are pretty well reduced by the MO-ARS.

Energy efficiency and indoor air quality have become main issue to develop healthy and sustainable building in these days. As an effort to reduce the energy consumption in multi-residential building, many attempts as like passive design strategies and renewable energy as well as active control method are tried. However, underground parking lot in multi-residential building seldom adopt the sustainable strategies and only mechanical system is installed as usual. Moreover, the mechanical system installed in underground parking lot is rarely operated due to the electric demand for operation after completion. In this study, as an energy efficient measure, natural ventilation system using stack effect as a driving force for underground parking lot will be proposed and the performance of the suggested system will be analyzed by simulation method.
