Input Impedance Analysis of Piezoelectric Cylinder Transducer using Finite Element Method (유한요소법을 이용한 원통형 압전변환기의 입력임피던스 해석)

  • This study shows how the finite element method for the structural problems could be applied in the electromechanical impedance analysis of an in-air piezoelectric cylinder transducer and then compares the numerical results by the FEM with the measured results using the impedance analyzer. The results also show that the comparison between both results could be applied to examine the mechanical properties of the added unknown material to transducer such as an acoustic window.

  • 초음파 탐촉자의 개발에 필요한 압전재료의 선택을 위하여 탐촉자의 성능에 영향을 미치는 탄성, 유전, 압전 상수의 영향을 알아보았다. 해석 방법으로는 등가회로를 통한 두께 모드 발신기, 수신기, 펄스 반사기의 전달함수를 구하였으며, 이로부터 압전재료의 각 물성치가 가져야 할 바람직한 특성을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 재료의 선택시와 더불어 세라믹 공학자들이 초음파용 압전소자를 개발함에 있어 적절한 지침이 될 수 있을 것이다.

Elastic Wave Propagation in Monoclinic System Due to Transient Line Load

  • In this paper, we study the response of several anisotropic systems to buried transient line loads. The problem is mathematically formulated based on the equations of motion in the constitutive relations. The load is in form of a normal stress acting with arbitrary axis on the plane of monoclinic symmetry. Plane wave equation is coupled with vertical shear wave, longitudinal wave and horizontal shear wave. We first considered the equation of motion in reference coordinate system, where the line load is coincident with symmetry axis of the orthotrioic material. Then the equation of motion is transformed with respect to general coordiante system with azimuthal angle by using transformation tensor. The load is first described as a body force in the equations of the motion for the infinite media and then it is mathematically characterized. Subsequently the results for semi-infinite spaces is also obtained by using superposition of the infinite medium solution together with a scattered solution from the free surface. Consequently explicit solutions for the displacements are obtained by using Cargniard-DeHoop contour. Numerical results which are drawn from concrete examples of orthotropic material belonging to monoclinic symmetry are demonstrated.

  • The paper describes a theoretical study on the flexural vibration of an elastic flat bar with periodically nonuniform material properties. The approximate solution of the natura1 frequency and mode shape has been obtained using the perturbation technique for sinusoidal modulation of the flexural rigidify and mass density. The numerical solution obtained by using the finite element method verifies the trend of the approximate solution. It appears that distributed vibrations exist in the low modes, and this approach can be extended to the vibration analysis of the p1ate in the flat panel speaker.

  • This study was carried out to analyze the relationship between basic physical properties and acoustical characteristics of imported violin wood and to offer the information on raw material procurement and incoming-material quality control to domestic violin makers which have purchased most raw materials from European exporting countries at high expense. Equilibrium moisture content of European spruce with lower specific gravity after the prolonged storage was rather higher than that of European maple with higher specific gravity. The specific gravity of spruce increased with decreasing annual ring width, however, that of narrower annual ring. Increasement in specific gravity enhanced the dynamic Young's modulus of both wood species, but influenced the vibration energy loss by internal friction differently between two species. For dynamic MOE, qurater-sawn spruce was higher than the flat-sawn, but maple showed the reverse directional characteristics. Consequently, it would be well for violin makers to establish the standard for materials and quality control system to assure the quality of their violin products.

A Study on the Elastic Wave Velocity of Magnetostrictive Materials (자왜 재료의 탄성파 속도에 관한 연구)

  • Magnetostrictive materials have nonlinear elasto-magnetic properties. However the constitutive equations to describe the nonlinear properties are not available, yet. In this study we develope the equation in magnetostrictive materials by use of piezomagnetic constitutive equation which is quasi-linearized. With the wave equation, we determine the propagation velocity inside the magnetostrictive materials when a plane wave propagates along a given magnetic field. Validity of the calculated velocity is verified through comparison with experimental velocity measurement results for the most representative magnetostrictive materials. Terfenol-D.

  • The characteristics of radiation impedance are analyzed by algorithms which consists of Finite Element Method (FEM) and Hybrid type Infinite Element Method. The changes of radiation impedance for piston source according to the size and the material properties of baffles are studied. The results of the radiation impedance for rigid finite baffle coincide with other reports. The more the material properties of baffle that comes across the acoustic medium, the more the calculation results of radiation impedance approach the ones without baffle. Therefore, these results can be applied to the design and the radiation characteristics analysis of acoustic transducers.

  • For the purpose of finding out the acoustical characteristics of exterior materials in bridge, analytical studies are performed with boundary elements method by using the commercial program SYSNOISE. Before analysis, to figure out material property, it was conducted experiments of absorption coefficient for absorptive material. And prediction of pressure were conducted I GIRDER type (before & after installation of absorption panel ) and BOX GIRDER type (before & after installation of absorption panel) The results show that when the absorption panel is installed, environment around bridge can help reduce traffic noise. It was proved to be the effective noise reduction counter-plan for a traffic noise in the bridges.

  • Optimal layer sequencing of a multi-layered acoustical foam is solved to maximize its sound transmission loss. A foam consisting of air and poroelastic layers can be optimized when a limited amount of a poroelastic material is allowed. By formulating the sound transmission loss maximization problem as a one dimensional topology optimization problem, optimal layer sequencing and thickness were systematically found for several frequencies. For optimization, the transmission losses of air and poroelastic layers were calculated by the transfer matrix derived from Biot's theory. By interpolating five intrinsic parameters among several poroelastic material parameters, dear air-poroelastic layer distributions were obtained; no filtering or post-processing was necessary. The optimized foam layouts by the proposed method were shown to differ depending on the frequency of interest.

Study on Linear Parameters Identification of Loudspeaker (라우드스피커의 선형매개변수 규명법에 대한 연구)

  • To identify linear parameters of loudspeaker, two methods are presented. Linear parameter identification methods by box method and added mass method are developed. These methods are compared with conventional software to show advantages and disadvantages of developed methods. Results identified by conventional method of Laud software are significantly different from developed methods. But two methods developed show 4% error in Thiele-Small (TS) parameters identified. In box method, it shows that TS parameters are dependent on the amount of porous material.
