The present study examined the effects of the complexity of the 3D models on the results of acoustic simulation which is the predominant tool of the acoustical design of buildings. Also, the effects of the 3D model on the auralized sounds were investigated. In order to carry out the study, four 3D models with different levels of complexity were introduced for a real auditorium which have different numbers of surfaces in the persuit of the guidance of odeon room acoustic software. The set-up of models was also based on the level of transition order of the program. And the acoustic experiments were performed measuring room acoustic parameters including SPL, RT, C80, D50. Acoustic computer simulations were performed using four different models. Then, the results of the computer modeling were compared with the measured acoustical parameters. In addition, sound sources were recorded in the field and auralized sounds were made in convolution with the impulse source made from acoustic modeling. Then, subjective tests were undertaken using auralized sounds. As the results, it was found that the result of the acoustic simulation were closer to the real room acoustic properties when 3D model was more particularly made. For the subjective test, the listening materials were acknowledged as similar with the real sound source when more complex 3D model was used. Then, it could be concluded that the complexity of the 3D model affects the results of the acoustic modeling as well as subjective tests.
In this study, the acoustic performance was analyzed by architectural shapes of the hall. There are four architectural shapes of halls. They are rectangular, horseshoe, surround, and fan-shape. Eight acoustic parameters were used to determine the acoustic performance. These are RT60, EDT, C80, BQI, LF, Gmid, G125 and ITDG. First, measurement data of famous concert halls around the world were analyzed. The correlation coefficient R was obtained by regression analysis of the relationship between the subjective ranking of the halls and the acoustic parameters. It was found that BQI, G, and ITDG have higher correlation coefficients R. Also the average of acoustic parameters for each architectural shape were obtained. The total acoustic performance for each shape was calculated by using the correlation coefficient R as a weight for each acoustic parameters. As a result, rectangular halls and horseshoe halls showed good acoustical performances. Second, 3D models of each architectural shape were created and acoustic simulation had been performed. The simulation was performed by creating 3D models of each four shapes of concert halls with the same volume and sound absorption coefficient. Listening test was carried out using the sound source which is created from impulse responses of 3D model. As a result, rectangular hall and horseshoe hall showed the best performance however surround hall and fan-shaped hall showed relatively poor performance.

The shooting noise caused by shooting training, which has strength and impacts, is becoming a serious damage to the residents around the shooting range and, consequently, the number of civil appeals against the shooting noise is on the constant increase. For this reason, the military examines the effects of the shooting noise at the stage of design in constructing a shooting range and tries to build a soundproof shooting range to minimize civil appeals. However, the lack of research and data concerning propagation and attenuation, both of which characterize the shooting noise from within a soundproof shooting range, even makes it so difficult to design a soundproof shooting range in constructing it. So this study used an acoustic simulation in a soundproof shooting range to identify acoustic and propagation characteristics within the shooting range and, on this basis, predicted the noise level at an exit of the soundproof shooting range. As a result, if the form and specifications of a soundproof shooting range were decided on at the stage of design, it was possible to use a simulation to design a soundproof shooting range with optimized acoustic performance and, on this basis, to predict a sound pressure level at an exit of the soundproof shooting range. On the basis of these data, it is probably possible to determine the degree of the effects of the shooting noise on the villages around a shooting range and the extent of damage to it and to minimize civil appeals against the shooting noise and resolve the issues of compensation and agreement with ease. This study is expected to provide useful data for designing and constructing a similar soundproof shooting range.
In this paper, the characteristics of receiving voltage sensitivity about acoustic package in towed array sonar is analyzed through the numerical simulation and design of experiments. Simulation results show that the variation of receiving voltage sensitivity is caused by the structural resonance mode shape on baseline acoustic package. The effect of design parameters of the acoustic package are analyzed through the design of experiments to reduce the deviation of receiving voltage sensitivity. A change of hydrophone shield can thickness (t) is the greatest effect on the deviation of receiving voltage sensitivity. As a result of water tank test, the acoustic package derived from the design of experiments has reduced deviation of receiving voltage sensitivity.
Prediction methods for cavitation noise are presented. At first, direct numerical simulation of cavitating flow noise has been performed, and acoustic analogy equation based on the cavitation noise modeling is derived. For the direct numerical simulation, a density based homogenous equilibrium model is employed to simulate cavitating two-phase flow and the governing equations are solved with high-order numerical schemes to resolve cavitation noise. The compressible Navier-Stokes equations for mixture fluids are discretized with a sixth-order central compact scheme, and the steep gradient of flow variables and supersonic regions are treated with the selective spatial filtering technique. The direct simulation of cavitating flow noise is performed for a 2D circular cylinder at cavitation number 0.7 and 1. The far-field noise is also predicted with the derived analogy equation. Noise spectrum predicted with the equation is well compared with the result of direct numerical simulation and also agree well with the theory.

Effects of each acoustic property on absorption characteristics of polyester fiber materials has been studied in this paper. It would be impossible for us to measure effects of each acoustic property by experimental method since we cannot make sound-absorbing materials in which only one of the properties is changed. We have adopted a numerical prediction method to carry out parameter studies for each acoustic property. And to get a general behavior of acoustic performance of the materials, the numerical simulation has been repeated to several cases of different bulk density. Finally we have obtained frequency-dependent control factors in the absorption performance which gives us design capability of acoustic absorbing materials.
A new configuration of acoustic echo canceler with stepsize predictor and comparator is proposed in this paper. Conventional acoustic echo cancelers using ES(Exponential Step)algorithm has fast convergence speed, but very weak in interference of environment. The proposed stepsize predictor and comparator improve conventional acoustic echo canceler's defects. The Stepsize predictor generates a stepsize value using residual power of error signal. The stepsize comparator selects the stepsize value that is better performance in a acoustic echo canceler using a stepsize decision factor. The Simulation results show superiority of the proposed acoustic echo canceler in environment interference.
The terrestrial communication network and the underwater acoustic communication network have very different communication characteristics each other in operational environments, communication media, propagation delay, frequency bandwidth, transmission speed, bit error rate, and so on. These different characteristics cause some different address schemes and different maximum transmission units and, as a result, these differences must form certainly obstacles to the intercommunication between a terrestrial communication network and an underwater acoustic communication network. In this paper, we presents a method to use the virtual addresses to resolve the interconnection problem caused by different address schemes between a terrestrial communication network and an underwater acoustic communication network, and, through a mathematical modeling, we analyze the performance on the message transceiving delay time in the underwater environment.
This study evaluated the acoustic performance of two configurations of serial HR arrays and lined HR arrays in the presence of grazing flow using a 3D numerical simulation. The dual, triple, and quad HR arrays were compared to the conventional HR array. The simulation results showed that the number of resonant frequencies increased with the number of serial HR arrays. The CTL did not significantly change with the number of serial HR arrays. The acoustic performance of the two, three, and four-lined HR arrays was compared to the conventional HR array. The results showed that the resonant frequency and TLmax increased with the number of lined HR arrays. The CTL also increased with the number of lined HR arrays. The effect of the grazing flow Mach number (Ma) was investigated on the four-lined HR array configuration and compared to the conventional HR configuration. TLmax and CTL decreased for both configurations with increasing Ma. The four-lined HR array configuration had significantly better acoustic performance than the conventional HR configuration. The TLmax and CTL increased by more than 300% when the configuration was changed from the conventional HR to the four-lined HR array at Ma = 0.The increment percentage decreased with increasing Ma.

In environment of torpedo firing, underwater acoustic signal is generated by target and noise. Sound wave which is generated from acoustic signal is propagated by seawater and it is received through the sonar(sound navigation and ranging) system mounted on torpedo. In the ocean, acoustic signal or sound wave from target that is generated by the spread of broadband can be attenuated by ambient noise and can be lost by medium and environment. This research is designed to support teamwork training in Naval operations by constructing a simulation system that is more similar to the real-world conditions. This paper attempts to research the modeling of target detection and to develop the simulation of torpedo sonar(TOSO). In order to develop the realistic simulation, we researched the broadband sound modeling of target and noise source, the modeling of acoustic transmission loss by chemical component of seawater, and the modeling of signal attenuation by ambient noise environment which is approximated by experimental measurements in seawater surrounding the Korea Peninsular and by experience of Navy's actual torpedo firing. This research contributed to constructing more practical simulation of torpedo firing in real time and the results of this research were used to develop a teamwork training system for the Navy and their education.
