  • This paper proposes a method to generate virtual intensity field in space. The sound field of a zone enclosing the listener position is controlled to have maximum acoustic intensity to the desired direction. In order to control acoustic intensity of a zone, space-averaged active intensity is introduced. The ratio of space-averaged active intensity and control effort is defined as a cost function and expressed as a function of source control signals. It is shown that the cost function represents radiation efficiency of multiple sources. The control signals maximizing the cost function is found through eigenvalue analysis. The proposed method is verified by numerical simulations performed in free field condition, and the results provide a relation between wavelength and the size of controllable intensity field.

  • High intensity vibro-acoustic testing is the appropriate method for flight qualification testing of space flight vehicle which must ensure the acoustic environment of launch. Growing demand for satellites and launch vehicles in korea has resulted in a recent increase in the demand for high intensity vibro-acoustic test facility. The test facility is designed to provide an acoustic environment of 152 ㏈( re 20 ${\mu}$Pa) overall sound pressure level over the band width of 30 Hz to 10,000 Hz in the reverberant chamber. The reverberant chamber has a volume of 1,000 ㎥ with interior dimensions of 8.7m${\times}$l0m${\times}$12m, which can accommodate not only satellites but also launch vehicle payload fairing. Korea Aerospace Research Institute and Korean industries have been carrying out the development of the reverberant chamber and auxiliary devices, such as automatic control system, monitoring/safety device, and jet nozzle, etc. This paper presents the detailed description of High Intensity Acoustic Chamber of KARI, which will be the first and unique testing facility in Korea.

  • The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effects of pre-formed space charges by DC stress on partial discharge(PD) characteristics in XLPE. We have suggested a modified pulsed electro-acoustic(PEA) method and successfully measured both space charge distribution and current simultaneously. It has been demonstrated that the PD patterns are strongly influenced by the pre-formed space charge distributions, which are hardly disappeared up to AC 8㎸ in electrode configuration including air gap between XLPE layer and electrode. From the results, it could be said that the pre-formed space charges by DC stress can play harmful and dangerous roles in insulating system under AC operating voltages because of the field distortion and localization due to the pre-formed space charge.

  • If a wall separates the bounded and unbounded spaces, then the wall's role in transporting the acoustic characteristics of the two spaces is not well defined. In this paper, we attempted to see how the acoustic characteristical of two spaces are really affected by the spatial characteristics of the wall. In order to understand coupling mechanism, we choose a finite space and a semi-infinite space separated by the flexible or rigid wall and an opening. A volume interaction can be occurred in structure boundary and a pressure interaction can be happened in the opening boundary. For its simplicity, without loosing generality, we use rather simplified rectangle model instead of generally shaped model. The source impedance is presented to the various types of boundaries. The distributions of pressure and active intensity are also presented at the cavity and structure-dominated modes. The resulting modification, shifts of mode1 frequencies and changing of standing wave patterns to satisfy both coupled boundary conditions and governing equations, are presented.

구조-음향 연성현상을 갖는 방사 방향을 가질 수 있는 방사체 설계방법 (A Design Method for Direction Selective Structural-acoustic Coupled Radiator)

  • This paper presents a design method for the structural-acoustic coupled radiator that can emit sound in the desired direction. A coupled system that has a finite space and a semi-infinite space separated by two flexible walls and an opening is considered. An objective function is selected to maximize radiation power on a main axis and minimize a side lobe level. To get initial values, prediction of a pressure distribution on field points and radiation pattern of the structural-acoustic coupling system is shown at a coupled-resonant frequency. Three different optimization methods are adapted to design the coupled radiator. Pressure and intensity distribution of the designed radiator is presented.

  • 액체로켓엔진에서 고주파 연소불안정을 제어하기 위하여 인젝터 길이 변화를 줄 수 있는 백홀 스월 인젝터를 분석하였다. 음향흡수자로서 백홀 인젝터의 효과를 분석하기위하여 백홀 인젝터는 1/4 파장 공명기로 해석하였다. 이론적 접근과 음향 실험의 결과로부터 가변적 변위를 갖는 백홀 스월 인젝터가 연소실의 불안정 모드를 감소시킴을 알 수 있었다. 실험적으로 감쇠율을 측정하여 감쇠효과를 측정하였다.

  • This paper presents a design of the directional radiation pattern by using the structural-acoustic interaction. For this purpose, prediction of the pressure distribution of the field points and radiation pattern of the structural-acoustic coupling system is shown. In order to get a strong coupling, coupled system that has a finite space and a semi-infinite space separated by two flexible walls and an opening is selected.   • The experimental and analytical study was conducted to determine the noise transmission characteristics of acoustically loaded steel plate of rectangular enclosure and to investigate the sound radiation characteristics through out the enclosure. The vibrations of acoustically loaded plate give rise to sound radiations and generate the reverberant space that the sound field exists very close to a vibrating plate. Acoustic transmission loss is measured from the incident intensity into the plate and the transmitted intensity through out the plate. Sound radiation patterns are measured from both acoustic intensity technique and surface intensity technique. Those resultant patterns and vibrational modes are vital in understanding the relations between vibration and noise in the near field out of vibrating plate.

  • Shaped Sound Focusing is defined as the generation of acoustically bright zone with a certain shape in space using multiple sources. The acoustically bright zone is a spatially focused region with relatively high acoustic potential energy level. In view of the energy transfer, acoustic focusing using multiple sources is essential because acoustic energy is very small to use other type of energy. It can be done by taking optimization techniques which can be acoustic brigtness control and acoustic contrast control. But it has not been frequently concerned about several cases, so the case of hollow cylinder shaped sound focusing is adapted and there wi11 be arguments about available control variables and spatially controllable region in this case.

로켓엔진 연소기 설계의 음향안정성 평가를 위한 해석코드 개발 (Development of Analysis Code for Evaluation of Acoustic Stability of Rocket Engine Combustor with Various Designs)

  • 고주파 연소불안정을 억제/방지하기 위해서는 가장 먼저 로켓엔진 연소기 내에서 나타나는 음향학적 특성을 파악하여야 하며, 수동안정화기구의 장착에 따른 음향안정성 여분을 정량적으로 비교/평가하는 것이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 실험적 평가방법을 대체할 수 있는 3차원 음향 해석코드를 개발하였으며, KSR-III 엔진 개발과정을 통해 수행되었던 상온음향 시험결과와 비교를 통해 신뢰도를 검증하였다. 연소기내의 주파수 응답특성을 잘 예측하였으며, 특히 배플 장착에 따른 음향감쇠효과를 정량적으로 나타내는 감쇠인 자비와 공진주파수 변이에 대해 실험결과와 일치하는 결과를 나타내었다. 따라서 향후 수동안정화기구를 설계/해석하는데 있어 유용하게 활용할 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 연소안정화와 관련된 다양한 연구에 폭넓게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
