In this study, we developed a rubric for assessing middle school students' conceptual understanding about dew point. For this purpose, we analyzed 9th grade students' responses collected by using a multi-tiers constructed-response item of National Assessment of Educational Achievement (NAEA) and classified the types of the responses according to their characteristics. In addition, we analyzed the distribution of student response types according to mean achievement scores and developed an assessment rubric of conceptual understanding about dew point. The findings are as follows: First, the analysis of student responses to finding dew point in the saturation curve showed that many students had no or lack understanding of the scientific concept of dew point. Second, as a result of analyzing the student response to the water vapor condensation process at dew point, the proportion of scientific conception types was very low, while the proportion of misconception types was relatively high and the types varied as well. Third, a four- level assessment rubric was developed based on the analysis of the distribution of student response types according to the mean achievement scores. Based on the findings, we suggested the development and utilization of assessment rubric in the field of Earth science education.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the satisfaction of students who participated in a role play using the syndrome differentiation CPX (Clinical Performance Examination) scenario in Korean Medicine Classics class, and to find out whether the results were correlated with self-assessment of treatment skills and subject achievement. Methods : In the Korean Medicine Classics class in the first semester of 2022, 44 first-year students in the Department of Korean Medicine completed theoretical education and formative evaluation on the subject of internal damage fever, and then role-played using CPX scenarios. Among them, 41 students consented to the study. Students who agreed to the study answered the satisfaction questionnaire consisting of 13 questions in 2 areas on learning methods and effects, and self-evaluation was conducted according to the evaluation items of medical technology consisting of 23 questions. Satisfaction and self-assessment results were analyzed for correlation, and additionally, correlation with Korean Medicine Classics subject achievement was also analyzed. Results : The result of student satisfaction with the role play was 4.87±0.06 while the result of student self-assessment of clinical skill was 4.73±0.16. The student satisfaction with the role play showed statisticallysignificant correlations with the self-assessment of clinical skill and quiz score of Korean Medical Classics while it did not show correlations with the total score of Korean Medical Classics and paper test. Also, the self-assessment of clinical skill did not show correlations with the total score of Korean Medical Classics, paper test, and quiz. Conclusions : Even though the students who performed the role play using the syndrome differentiation based CPX scenario highly assessed their clinical skill and showed high satisfaction, it did not show significant correlation with the achievement of Korean Medical Classics.
The Goals of mathematics education for the lower grades of primary school is to shape the basic concepts and the skills of mathematics. To achieve this goal, it is necessary an assessment which is able to help the students' learning activities by precisely diagnosing their basic mathematical capability. It should lend the students an assistance in diagnosing and revising their problems throughout teacher's cognitive participation in the process of mathematical problem solving. I would like to suggest the dynamic assessment as one of these kinds of approaches. In order to prove the utilities of this way, it was examined the necessity of dynamic assessment on the basis of the Vygotsky's theory after looking into the characteristics of the contents and methods of the mathematics education for the lower grades of primary school. Next, I researched the principles of the dynamic assessment and embodied the assessment tool to evaluate the mathematical achievement of the lower grades of the primary school. Lastly, it was provided the examples of the dynamic assessment tool in order to assist the practice of it.

The purpose of this study is to develop a debugging task to support process-centered assessment on software(SW) education and to develop a service site. Achievement criteria for programming in elementary and middle school SW curriculum consists of control structures such as repetition and condition, and elements such as variables and input/output. In order to apply the process-centered assessment presented by the Ministry of Education, it is necessary to present tasks that can be used in the actual classroom environment and to consider connection with achievement levels. Therefore, in this study, 12 tasks for elementary school and 15 tasks for middle school were developed as debugging tasks and their validity was verified. As a result of conducting Delphi verification for validity, it was found that the level and content of the debugging task are appropriate. In addition, as a result of verifying the usability of the debugging challenge site by applying a heuristic evaluation method, it was found that it is suitable for use in the real educational field.
This study aims to explore a learning progression for eight core concepts of middle school science using constructed response items in the national assessment of educational achievement (NAEA). For this purpose, a total of 7,390 responses of the 9th graders on 8 constructed response items in NAEA conducted in 2015 were inputted by computer and the inputted answers were analyzed and classified into different levels. After completing this process, five levels were set for each construct and a construct map was created according to the levels. In this study, the construct map was written in a progression-based rubric format, which was used as a criterion for leveling the answers of all students. In addition, the Rasch model was applied to measure the scores and achievements of the respondents by means of statistical analysis to correlate the scores of the students with the achievement levels of the constructs. Lastly, a preliminary learning progression was created by revising the construct map reflecting the results of Rasch model application. This study was meaningful in that it explored the possibility of developing the learning process by using constructed response items in NAEA. However, the preliminary learning progression developed in this study is still hypothetical and inferential because it is not longitudinally traced to individual students. Therefore, it is necessary to continually revise and supplement through iterative research process.
This study analyzed achievement standards in the 2015 revised Science Education Standards as well as activities and assessment items in grade 7 science textbooks using science core competencies and subcomponents. Scientific participation and lifelong learning capacity was not involved in the achievement standards. Logical thinking of scientific thinking capacity, planning and carrying out investigation, analyzing and interpreting data, developing and using models, and constructing explanation of scientific inquiry capacity, collecting and selecting information of scientific problem solving capacity, and using various communication methods of scientific communication capacity were involved in the achievement standards. All five scientific core competencies including all subcomponents except rational decision making of scientific problem solving capacity and understanding and coordinating diverse thoughts of scientific communication capacity were involved in activities of science textbooks. All five scientific core competencies were involved in assessment items of science textbooks. Logical thinking and creative thinking of scientific thinking capacity, planning and carrying out investigation and constructing explanation of scientific inquiry capacity, identifying problems, collecting and selecting information, suggesting solutions, and performing of scientific problem solving capacity, using various communication methods, arguing based on evidence of scientific communication capacity, and being interested in science technology and society issues of scientific participation and lifelong learning capacity.
This study is the descriptive survey for the purpose of providing the basic data that establishes the strategy to promote adolescent's hope by the examining of self-esteem, academic achievement, family functioning and hope of adolescents and the investigating of the factors influencing the hope in adolescents. The subjects for this study were 456 students of the first and second year of man's senior high school that located in Seoul. The data were gathered from 16th to 31st of the October 2000. For the survey tool, it was used that the Family Assessment Device(FAD) of Epstein, Baldwin & Bishop(1983), the Self-Esteem Inventory(SEI) of Coopersmith(1975), the class record order and Hinds & Gatusso(1991)'s Hopefulness Scale for Adolescents(HSA). The collected data was analyzed by statistics methods as the descriptive and frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients and Stepwise multiple regression of SAS program. The results of this study were following : 1. The mean score of self-esteem of young people was 51.06±6.83 and the mean grade was 2.04. The high academic achievement was 29.2%, middle grade was 52.7%, and low grade was 18.1%. The mean score of the family functioning was 38.30±6.98 and the mean grade was 2.25. The mean score of hope was 84.26±16.45 and the mean grade was 3.51. 2. The hope in adolescents was significantly different according to their father's school career. The mean score of the group that the father's school career was below junior high school was 77.32. That was significantly lower than the mean score 84.59 of the group that the father's school career was above college and the mean score 85.18 of senior high school group(F=4.04, P= 0.0183). 3. The self-esteem was represented the positive correlation with family functioning(r=0.43) and the all of the 4 subscales(r=0.31, 0.41, 0.39, 0.30). And, it was highly ranked as much as family functioning was good. The academic achievement was represented the positive correlation with self-esteem(r= 0.15). Also, the positive correlation was shown between the affective responsiveness, role recognition and emotional support as the subscales of family functioning and academic achievement(r=0.11, 0.12). And so, academic achievement was high as much as self-esteem was high and affective responsiveness and role recognition and emotional support were good. The hope was represented positive correlation with self-esteem and academic achievement(r=0.42, 0.26), and with the whole of family functioning(r=0.15) and the 4 subscales(r=0.13, 0.16, 0.11, 0.13). So, hope was high as much as self-esteem was high, academic achievement was high and family functioning was good. 4. The influencing factors on the hope of adolescents were self-esteem(17.63%), academic achievement(3.41%), father's school career(0.84%). These factors made it possible to explain 21.88% of hope.
Our government has used the result of National Assessment of Educational Achievement(NAEA) with one of data to check and improve the existing curricula and educational policies. The reason to devote these efforts is for the purpose of boosting the students' academic ability. Here, one of works based on the growth of the students' academic ability is to grasp what contents they are vulnerable to. Next work is to improve the methods to teach the appropriate content. So, in this paper I grasped the tendencies of the whole students and male/female students in middle school to appear in the results of 2010, 2011 NAEA. On the basis of those I grasp what contents the whole students and male/female students are vulnerable and I suggest the implications of teaching and learning for those contents.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects on academic achievement for university basic mathematics in order to improve the problem-solving abilities of low achievement students in university general mathematics. In this paper, we suggest effective management strategies and teaching-learning methods according to level-based classes with utilizing scholastic level assessment, students survey, Mathematics Cafe and tutorial program, and also managing demonstration classes which are using Webwork system for assignments and evaluating the class.

In accreditation system for engineering education the program educational objectives(PEO) are defined as the goals that the graduates should reach in 3~4 years after graduation. As indirect assessment this paper develops and presents a set of questions to evaluate how important the established PEOs are in the fields and how much the graduates achieves them. The survey was conducted and analyzed to evaluate the degree of importance and achievement of each PEO for the graduates and their employers. The survey results show that the graduates lack in the field of global capacity. A variety of educational programs are needed to create for improving such shortage.
