The Experimental Study on Simultaneous Measurements of $O_2$ Concentration and Temperature of Flue Gas Using a Single Diode Laser (다이오드 레이저를 이용한 배기가스 $O_2$ 농도 및 온도 동시 측정에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Simultaneous measurements of oxygen concentration and temperature using diode laser in the combustion environment are successfully accomplished. A single DFB type diode laser of 760 nm line centre frequency is used and the scanned-wavelength direct absorption spectroscopy method and wavelength modulation spectroscopy method are applied to measure absorption signals below 793 K temperature region. The experimental results show that oxygen concentration are measured within 1% accuracy and temperature are measured within 5% accuracy. This new method of simultaneous measurements of concentration and temperature with a single diode laser shows a great promise.

  • Thermopile thermometer can measure the temperature of an object without attaching the object. It measures the temperature by receiving the radiation energy from objects. The idea of this is from the law of Stefan-Boltzmann. In the past it was not used well because the size was big and the cost was too expensive. But, In these days it can be used many field because the size become smaller and advantage of cost by using micro machine technology. However, The accuracy of measuring is not better than electric type. So we want to improve the accuracy of sensor by analyzing the heat transfer of the thermopile. To analyze temperature distribution in the thermopile sensor, we use the FEM software which is named ANSYS. The conduction and radiation heat transfer is considered to simulate the temperature distribution and time response inside of the sensor.

  • Augmented Reality is being widely used not only for Smartphone users but also in industries such as maintenance, construction area. With smartphone, due to the low localization accuracy and the requirement of special infrastructure, current LBS (Localization Based Service) is limited to show P.O.I. (Point of Interest) nearby. Improvement of IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) based deadreckoning is presented in this paper. Additional sensors such as the magnetic compass and magnetic flux sensors are used as well as the accelerometer and the gyro for getting more movement information. Based on the pedestrian movement, appropriate sensor information is selected and the complementary filter is used in order to enhance the accuracy of the localization. Additional sensors are used to measure the movements of the upper body and the head and to provide the user's line of sight.

  • Lots of research works have been done to improve the accuracy of the hole drilling method to measure residual stress by many investigators. In this study, first, size effect of specimen was analyzed based on the solution of hole in a strip under tension. If the ratio of hole diameter tothe strip width is less than 0.2, the stress distribution around hold may be given from the solution of hole in an infinite plate. Second, the residual stress above $0.6{\sigma}_y$(yield stress) may be measured less than the actual stress by 10-15 percent. Third, eccentricity of hole relative to the rosette center effects on the accuracy of residual stress measurements by 10 percent. The error due to eccentricity of hole can be corrected by the iteration method or the direct method.

  • The author has proposed and verified the accuracy through experiments on a method of measurement through the use of sound waves that not only can quantitatively measure each of the dual directions of the fiber axis with high accuracy of membrane tension created on the surface of the membrane structure, but also can be easily operated in the field of construction. This paper reports the solution for problems of variables caused in the process of downsizing of the measurement equipment in order for practical use, and verifies the correspondence possibility of various stress ratios.

Study On the Exact Theory of Cylindrical Shells (원통셸의 엄밀이론에 관한 고찰)

  • In order to specify the accuracy of the cylindrical shell theories, several cylindrical shell equations are studied. Cheng's equation is used as the exact theory for circular cylindrical shells. An error factor is defined and used for the measure of the accuracy in various cylindrical shell theories. The line load applied along generators of a thin-walled circular cylidrical shell of finite length is investigated as a numerical example. These numerical results show that Cheng's equation is used for the fundamental cylindrical shell equation and the difficulties in cumputation by a digital computer are same as the simplified equations, such as Donnell's Morley's, and Vlasov's equations.

Touching probe and touch sensor are widely used to measure the tool profile at on-machine measurement. In this paper, using the newly developed electric touch point measuring system, the Automatic Tool Compensation System is developed to correct the error of tool diameter resulted from the wear, and the operating method of this system is also provided.

  • To increase the reliability and positional accuracy of a machine tool, a novel capacitive displacement sensor having a cylindrical shape is presented to measure the axial displacement of a machine tool spindle. Characteristics of the sensor were analyzed by numerical simulation. The sensor was built into a specific machine tool spindle and its performance was experimentally investigated. The accuracy of a thermal error compensation system of a machine tool can be enhanced greatly using proposed sensor.
