This paper introduces nine acceptance sampling plans by attribute based on screening (sorting, rectifying). Revised KS standards for single and double acceptance sampling by attribute such as Dodge - Romig : 1998, KSA ISO 2859 - 2 : 2001, 13448 - 1, 2, MIL - STD - 105E : 1989, KSA IEC 60410 and ANSI/ASQ Z1. 4 : 2003 are presented.

We discuss a model for acceptance/rejection decision regarding finite populations. The model is based on a beta-binomial prior distribution and additive costs -- relative sampling costs, relative sorting costs and costs of accepted defectives. A substantial part of the paper is devoted to constructing a Bayes sequential sampling acceptance plan (BSSAP) for attributes under the model. It is shown that the Bayes fixed size sampling acceptance plans (BFSAP) are better than the Hald's (1960) single sampling acceptance plans based on a uniform prior. Some tables and examples are provided for comprisons of the minimum Bayes risks of the BSSAP and those of the BFSAP based on a uniform prior and the model.

A methodology for determining optimal sampling plans for Bayesian multiattribute curtailed inspection models is proposed, whereby sampling inspection is terminated as soon as the disposition of the inspection lot is determined. An iterative solution procedure is developed for obtaining optimal multiattribute acceptance sampling plans under cuntailed sampling inspection.

Assume that the life times of the units under test follow the Rayleigh distribution and the test is terminated at a pre assigned time. Acceptance sampling plans are developed for this situation. The minimum sample size necessary to ensure the specified average life are obtained and the operating characteristic values of the sampling plans and producer's risk are given. An example is given to illustrate the methodology.

In this paper, stochastically dependent single and sequential acceptance sampling plans are dealt when the process follows a Polya process model. A Monte-Cairo algorithm is used to find the acceptance and rejection probabilities of a lot. The number of defectives for the test to be accepted and rejected in a probability ratio sequential test can be found by using these probabilities. The formula to measure performance of these sampling plans is developed. Type I and II error probabilities are estimated by simulation. Dependent multiple acceptance sampling plans can be derived by extending the sequential sampling procedure. In numerical examples, single and sequential sampling plans of a Polya dependent process are examined and the characteristics are compared according to the change of the dependency factor.

A double sampling procedure with zero acceptance number for the first sample whose operating characteristic closely matches that of a given single sampling plan and whose combined sample size does not exceed that of the given single sampling plan is proposed. The proposed double sampling plans corresponding to the MIL-STD-105D plans are tabulated and it is found that their ASN's are considerably smaller than those of corresponding MIL-STD-105D single or double sampling plans.

An acceptance sampling plan for products manufactured from a production process with variable fraction defective is developed. We consider a situation where defective products have short lifetimes and non-defective ones never fail during the technological life of the products. An acceptance criterion which guarantee the out going quality of accepted products is derived using the prior information on the quality of products. Numerical examples are provided.

Reliability acceptance sampling is concerned with whether to accept or reject a collection of items based upon the information obtained from life testing. Although various reliability acceptance sampling plans have been developed, little is known about their relatvie performances. This paper compares reliability acceptance sampling plans under Type II censoring, Hybrid censoring, and Time-Truncated Type II censoring assuming that the lifetimes of items in a lot follow an exponential distribution. The three plans are compared in terms of the power, the expected number of failures, and the expected time required to reach a decision. Computational experiments are conducted and the results are tabulated to provide guidelines for selecting an appropriate plan for a given situation.

Mixed acceptance sampling plans for quantity of products in prepackages are widely used for compliance testing. To pass testing, random samples jointly comply with two legal requirements: (i) the average net content of an inspection lot shall be not less than the labelled quantity and (ii) the numbers of under-filled prepackages in a sample are less than or equal to permitted numbers. This paper discusses some drawbacks of the acceptance sampling plans and requirements recommended in OIML R87 (KS A 50087 translated by Korean) developed by the International Organization of Legal Metrology and evaluates the producer's and consumer's risks. In addition, problem of determining a target value in filling processes of prepackages under the OIML R87 requirements is addressed and illustrated with a numerical example.
