  • The purpose of this study is to review whether the self-esteem of Republic of Korea army officers and noncommissioned officers affect cultural acceptability and at the same time to determine whether these relationships are mediated by adjustment to military life and job satisfaction. For this purpose, we conducted a survey by random sampling of 580 officers and noncommissioned officers serving in the army units located in Gyeonggi Province and Gangwon Province. The collected data was analyzed by a structural equation model, including statistical and correlation analysis. As a result of analysis, self-esteem of the military officers and noncommissioned officers appeared to be mediated only by military life adjustment, or to affect the cultural acceptability mediated by the military life and job satisfaction in turn. Therefore, in order to increase the cultural acceptability of military officers and noncommissioned officers, ROK Army should enhance the self-esteem, job satisfaction and adaptability of them.

  • The study provided basic data that could be used for future research by identifying trends in the factors that affect the multicultural acceptability of Korean teens from 2008 to 2017. Research methods have searched for papers using keywords from 'Multicultural', 'Youth', 'Middle School Student', 'High School Student' and 'Acceptance' in academic data base. As a result of analysis, journal articles and dissertations soared as of 2012, and the academic field identified the largest number of studies being carried out in the field of social science and pedagogy. Quantitative research and cross-sectional study were the most important methods of previous research. On the other hand, few studies have concurrently analyzed new factors related to multicultural acceptability. The results of this study indicate the need for a combined analysis of the new factors that may affect the multicultural acceptability of adolescents.

  • The objective of this study is to propose a new strategy, called "freeway travel reservation strategy", to mitigate freeway traffic congestion by using advanced traffic technologies and traffic demand management policies, and to analyze its acceptability. Motorist surveys were carried out to accomplish the acceptability analysis. As a result, 73% of respondents agreed with the proposed strategy, and an increase in the inconvenience for using freeway during the major Korean Holidays, in the age, in the number of family members, and in household income resulted in higher acceptability. Additionally, married or female respondents tended to have higher acceptability. Such results can be practical for developing policies to successfully operate the proposed strategy in the future.

  • In a disaster situation such as COVID-19, our society has experienced the spread of the damage due to confirmed patients who have a negative or uncooperative attitude toward the disclosure of personal information. Accordingly, this study aims to find a policy direction that can improve the awareness of the disclosure of personal information about confirmed COVID-19 patients. This study classified the concept of acceptability into personal and social acceptability, and statistically verified their relationship with influential factors. In this study, 594 cases of data collected through an online survey were used. The analysis results show that the greater the trust in the government's personal information management capability, the lower the perception of the risks associated with the disclosure of personal information, and the lower the awareness of the risk, the higher the personal and social acceptability of the personal information disclosure of COVID-19 confirmed patients. In addition, the greater the recognition of the utility of personal information disclosure, the higher the perception of personal and social acceptability of the personal information disclosure. It is expected that the analysis results and discussions of this study will be useful information for policy development to create a more mature social atmosphere to reduce the public's reluctance to disclose information not only in COVID-19 but also in new disaster situations in the future.

  • To investigate the optimum ratio of sucrose replacement with high intensity sweeteners, the sensory characteristics and consumer acceptability of coffee drinks containing sucralose and acesulfame-K were studied using descriptive analysis and consumer testing. The relative sweetness of the sucralose and acesulfame-K to sucrose were 600-700 and 200-400 times greater, respectively, within the coffee drink system. The sucrose-replaced coffee drinks containing 100% sucralose, as well as mixtures of sucralose/acesulfame-K in ratios of 75/25 and 50/50, showed sensory profiles that were more similar to those of the original 100% sucrose coffee drink, which had a greater sweet taste, vegetable cream, caramel flavor, viscosity, and mouthcoating. These samples were not different from the 100% sucrose sample in terms of overall consumer acceptability.

  • While there are a number of guidelines used throughout the world in the assessment of acceptability of tall building accelerations, none are based on systematically conducted surveys of occupant reaction to wind-induced motion. In this study, occupant response data were gathered by both a self-reporting mechanism and by interviewer-conducted surveys in control tower structures over a period of four years. These two approaches were designed in conjunction with experimental psychologists to ensure unbiased reporting. The data allowed analysis of perception thresholds and tolerability at different building frequencies and in different wind climates. The long-term nature of the studies also allowed an investigation of the causes and effects of adaptation to building motion. As the surveys were designed to allow multiple use during single storms, the effects of exposure duration were investigated. A final exit survey was conducted at the primary survey location to investigate views of the acceptability of wind-induced motion and the factors underlying these views. The findings of the field studies indicate that none of the currently used acceleration guidelines address all of the factors that contribute to occupant dissatisfaction. An alternative framework for assessing acceleration acceptability is proposed.
