  • In the metallothermic reduction (MR) process used to obtain tantalum powder in one batch, it is difficult to control the morphology and location of the tantalum deposits. On the other hand, an electronically mediated reaction (EMR) process is capable of overcoming this difficulty. The effect of using $K_2TaF_7$ as the raw material and sodium as the reducting agent on the characteristics of tantalum powder are investigated. As the temperature of the reduction varied from 1023K to 1223K, the powder particles obtained with MR were relatively large $({\sim}34{\mu}m)$, while those prepared via EMR were of uniform $(13{\mu}m)$. In the MR process, the Ta powder recovery rate increased from 37% to 83% at 1123K in constrat with EMR process.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of a teacher's leadership (initiating and consideration), class climate, and friendship on academic attitudes. In order to accomplish this, 1,533 elementary school students were recruited. Descriptive statistics and path analysis were employed to examine relationships. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, there were positive correlations between academic attitudes and the teacher's leadership, class climate, and friendship. Second, results of path analysis illustrated that a teacher's leadership consideration indicator had a direct impact on class climate, friendship, and academic attitudes. Furthermore, the teacher's leadership consideration indirectly affected academic attitudes through mediation of class climate and friendship. However, the teacher's leadership initiating indicator did not have a direct impact on class climate, friendship, and academic attitude. The indices of the best fit model for these variables were adequate (GFI, NFI, CFI > 0.90). This study shows that the teacher's leadership consideration is the significant predictor for elementary school students' class climate, friendship, and academic attitudes. Finally, the meaning and limitations of this research, and its implications on academic assistance and intervention, are discussed in detail.

  • This study was conducted to describe the relationship and influencing factors among college life adaptation, academic self-efficacy, and department satisfaction of freshman nursing students. There were 345 345 nursing freshman between November 30 and December 4 who participated in this study. The mean score of the college life adaptation, academic self-efficacy, and department satisfaction was $2.91({\pm}0.52)$, $2.79({\pm}0.60)$, and $3.55({\pm}0.47)$. The college life adaptation related with male group (p=.004), entering motivation (p=.027), friendship satisfaction (p<.001), first semester grade (p=.005), and academic self-efficacy related with male group (p=.040), entering motivation (p=.047), desired work (p=.015), friendship satisfaction (p=.014), first semester grade(p<.001), and department satisfaction related with entering motivation (p=.004), friendship satisfaction (p<.001), and first semester grade (p=.002) all showed statistical significance. There was a significant positive correlation among college life adaptation, academic self-efficacy (r=.223, p<.001), and department satisfaction (r=.342, p<.001). A significant and positive correlation was found between academic self-efficacy and department satisfaction (r=.218, p<.001). Department satisfaction was largely influenced by the college life adaptation. The regression model explained 23.1% of college life adaptation. In conclusion, this study showed that college life adaptation of freshman nursing students was correlated with academic self-efficacy and department satisfaction. Moreover, to increase the college adaptation of nursing freshman, it is necessary to develop educational programs to improve academic self-efficacy and department satisfaction.

  • This study was conducted to identify professional self-concept, academic self-efficacy and department satisfaction among 327 nursing students to determine whether professional self-concept or academic self-efficacy has an impact on department satisfaction. Data were collected from May 29 till June 12, 2017 and subjected to frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and multiple regression analyses using SPSS version 22.0. The results revealed that purpose of admission to school, relationship with peers, and academic achievement significantly influenced professional self-concept, academic self-efficacy and department satisfaction, whereas gender, age, and religion did not. Additionally, there was a positive correlation between professional self-concept, academic self-efficacy, and department satisfaction. The factor that had the greatest impact on department satisfaction was professional self-concept, although academic self-efficacy and consideration of aptitude for major were also significant influencing factors. Overall, the results indicate that there is a need to develop and apply a variety of programs that can be used to increase professional self-concept to increase department satisfaction among nursing students. Accordingly, further studies are needed to increase academic self-efficacy among students and consider aptitude when admitting students.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship among the variables and the influence of academic self-efficacy and critical thinking disposition on the problem solving ability of nursing students. A descriptive research design was employed in this study. The participants were 404 sophomore nursing students in D city, who were surveyed between May 2 and May 20, 2016, using self-report questionnaire. The data were analyzed with SPSS WIN 21.0 using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, t-test, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple stepwise regression analysis. Significant correlations among the academic self-efficacy, critical thinking disposition, and problem solving ability were found. In academic self-efficacy and critical thinking disposition, there were significant differences in gender, academic credit, interpersonal relationship, and satisfaction with nursing as a major. The problem solving ability showed statistically significant differences in academic credit, interpersonal relationships, and satisfaction with nursing as a major. The regression model explained 51.7% of the effect on the problem solving ability. Academic self-efficacy and critical thinking disposition were factors influencing the problem solving ability of nursing students. Based on these results, to increase problem solving ability of nursing students, it will be necessary to develop an educational program and strategy for improving the academic self-efficacy and critical thinking disposition.
