  • This study tried to reveal the relation among the necessary and sufficient conditions of human relation, which is the core concept of human-centered counseling. The relation of these three conditions are quite different according to what we take as the main content of authenticity. If we take congruence as its content, as Rogers did in his early academic years, three conditions are equal in their importance as instruments which counselor can use. But, if we take presence as its content, as Rogers did in his later academic years, authenticity possesses central position while using empathy and unconditional positive regard as its instruments. In this relation, we can say authenticity is a continuous growing process of self realization. And it also can be sad that the three necessary and sufficient conditions compose productive counseling relation inviting both counselor and client to the self realizing process.

To do this, 108 science-gifted students from grades 3 to 6 were selected. After conducting the tests on their science academic passion, positive experience about science and scientific creativity, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted. The results revealed that the students exhibited relatively high levels of science academic passion and positive experience about science, but their scientific creativity was not relatively high. While there was no statistically significant correlation between the overall science academic passion and scientific creativity, there was a significant negative correlation with scientific creativity in the aspect of 'obsessive passion' of the five subcategories ('importance', 'like', 'time/energy investment', 'harmonious passion', and 'obsessive passion'). Furthermore, the five subcategories, particularly 'like', 'harmonious passion', and 'obsessive passion' were statistically significant predictors of scientific creativity. However, the five subcategories of positive experience about science ('science academic emotion', 'science-related self-concept', 'science learning motivation', 'science-related career aspiration', and 'science-related attitude') did not exhibit statistically significant correlations with scientific creativity and did not had a significant influence on it. Additionally, neither the overall science academic passion nor the overall positive experience about science had a statistically significant effect on scientific creativity. Educational implications of these results were discussed.

  • Since business startups are known to have positive effects on the economic growth of a country, it is necessary to review the factors influencing the willingness to start new businesses for the people to act on business startups. In this regard, the study sought to reexamine the findings of previous research showing that the innovative, initiative, and risk-taking characteristics, which are the constitutive elements of entrepreneurships, influence the willingness to start up. Furthermore, in this study, attempts were made to empirically analyze the direct and indirect relationships of self-leadership influencing the willingness to start new businesses. Consequently, first, it showed that college students' entrepreneurship has positive effects on the willingness to start new businesses. Second, the significance of the gender of college students was not confirmed as to playing a regulating role in the relationship between entrepreneurship and the willingness to start up. Third, the relationship between self-leadership and the willingness to start new businesses was validated to be significant in a positive direction. Fourth, no mediating effect of self-leadership in the relationship between entrepreneurship and the willingness to start new businesses was observed. Such research results have the following significances. First, while there is an awareness that the concepts of business start- up, entrepreneurship, and leadership carry masculinity, the lack of regulating effect of gender may reflect the changing phases of time and society where women's participation has been increasing. Second, self-leadership is a concept by which one pioneers his or her own life and an influencing factor on the willingness to start up; however, since it has enormous impacts on the entrepreneurship and willingness to start up, relevant mediating effects were not observed and the magnitude of the important influence between entrepreneurship and the willingness to start up were confirmed.

  • Health behavior constitutes the single most important factor in an individual's health maintenance program. Pender's health promotion model emphasizes the positive aspects of health-seeking behavior hut omits some negative ones. Although Pender's work does include the concept of barriers, the main focus is upon health habits rather than upon the interaction between the consumer and the health care system. Therefore, since individuals actually do face many barriers in their health-seeking behavior, the present study deals with negative concepts-the barriers to health and healthy behavior. For this reason the expression health-seeking behavior was chosen over health promotion. In conclusion, the results show that barriers to health-seeking behavior are causal factors that could explain and predict the health-seeking behavior of middle life women. Midlife women shows that they have barriers to health-seeking behavior especially in inconvenience, cost, healthcenter site-related problem, relationship, fear. These findings suggest the need to develop a nursing strategy to improve the empowerment of self-determination in middle-aged women. Consequently, a goal of nursing care for middle-aged women should be to help them pursue health care with a greater degree of self-sufficiency.
