The purpose of this study is to provide an explanation for the association between the characteristics of a network and the type of innovation by considering the effect of absorptive capacity. To do so, this study examined the moderating effects of absorptive capacity on the characteristics of network-innovation relationship in a technical-driven venture company. In order to obtain a better understanding about consequences caused by interfirm network, information was obtained from 169 Korean IT venture companies. Results confirmed that the network diversity is positively associated with exploration. Our results also suggested that the network strength is positively associated with exploitation. Finally, we found a positive two-way interaction between absorptive capacity and the network diversity-exploration relationship. Then, we discussed implications and directions for future research.
Absorptive material arrangement method for effective interior noise control is proposed. Sound field with arbitrary boundary condition is formulated by Kirchhoff-Helmholtz integral equation. A simple example such as a rectangular cavity will present physical meaning between changing boundary condition and control of sound field. The effect of changing boundary condition is expressed in modal admittance. From this formulation. an admittance map is presented. The admittance map is the figure to represent position where absorptive material is attached for effective interior noise control. The admittance map can be assigned to each resonant frequency. There. however, may be common area of those maps. Then, frequency robust arrangement of absorptive material in noise control will be presented.
This paper analyzes the role of absorptive capacity in R&D spillovers through strategic R&D investments in a game-theoretic framework. In the model, a firm's effective R&D is composed of idiosyncratic R&D, which produces its own innovations, and identical R&D, which improves absorptive capacity. The model shows that in the presence of absorptive capacity firms have a tendency to underinvest (overinvest) in idiosyncratic (identical) R&D relative to the social optimum. As the spillover becomes larger, firms decrease their own R&D while they become more inclined towards strategic exploitation of rivals' efforts. Since the former effect overpowers the latter, the total amount of R&D decreases as the spillover increases. This is socially undesirable, providing a potential justification for a governmental subsidy for idiosyncratic R&D and a tax on identical R&D. The findings may have important implications for newly industrialized or emerging countries that consider a redirection of national R&D policy and intellectual property rights (IPR) regime.
This study examines the co-evolutionary process between open innovation and firms' absorptive capacity. The effects of open innovation can be maximized through the capacity to absorb the knowledge from the external sources such as universities, government-support research institute, and private R&D centers. This study used data of STEPI technology innovation survey conducted at 2002, 2005, and 2008 (3 points measures). The data were analyzed through a structural equation model. Results suggest that open innovation at t0 point influences positively the absorptive capacity at t1 point, which subsequently enhances the intention of open innovation at t2 point. This result suggests the existence of co-evolutionary process between open innovation and firms' absorptive capacity. When knowledge comes from universities, the co-evolution has sustained; whereas when knowledge comes from private firms' R&D centers, the co-evolution has not effected. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

The silencers are used to attenuate noise generated by the exhaust fan for industrial processes. The types of silencers applied in this study are absorptive duct silencer, expansion chamber, absorptive chamber and resonator. This study was carried out to verify the attenuation by the various silencers and elements. As a result, the difference of attenuation between the calculation and the measurement was about 1-7㏈. The attenuation by absorptive duct silencer and absorptive chamber was negligible at frequencies below 250Hz. The expansion chamber should be used for low frequency applications where the absorptive duct silencer was Ineffective. The attenuation by resonator may be realised when the ratio of frequency to resonant frequency approaches 1.

This study empirically examines the proposition that the domestic fundamentals of a nation can emerge as absorptive capacity factors to reap the benefits of inward FDI. The study is contextualized in Asia, set from1982 to 2017, and data is grouped into low-income and lower-middle-income economies, in comparison to high-income and upper-middle-income economies, catering to different geographical regions within Asia. The investigation is based on a series of absorptive capacity factors such as infrastructure, human capital, domestic credit, and health indicator. The methodological analysis is premised on dynamic panel structure and employs the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimation technique. The empirical findings suggest that that the infrastructure variable appears to be the major absorptive capacity factor for both groups of countries. The health indicator, on the other hand, can help reap the benefits of inward FDI, but only if the threshold level is met. The selected economies must achieve this threshold level to reap the benefits of FDI. To absorb the benefits of inward FDI, countries must be proactive in providing sound infrastructure and implementing proper healthcare measures.

This study conducted in-depth interviews with 8 ICT companies experienced in technology transfer and collaboration with government-funded research institutions, employing Grounded Theory methodology. From these interviews, 139 episodes were extracted and categorized into 29 sub-categories across the companies. Validation by independent coders further classified these into 5 categories: potential absorptive capacity, realized absorptive capacity, technology collaboration activities, technology collaboration performance, and innovation intermediaries. The validation results suggest that companies with higher absorptive capacity are more actively involved in technology collaboration. Moreover, companies utilizing innovation intermediaries demonstrate increased collaboration frequencies. The study contributes to academia and industry by providing insights for companies to improve competitiveness and foster smooth technology collaboration, enhancing collaborative outcomes. Future research should focus on quantitatively validating these findings.
This study proposes an analytic method that determines an optimal arrangement of absorptive materials on an enclosure surface. Under the optimal arrangement, a quiet zone in the enclosure has the minimum $\varepsilon$$\sub$p/ (acoustic potential energy density). The proposed method has been implemented by using a BEM simulation and a genetic algorithm. The BEM simulation evaluates the $\varepsilon$$\sub$p/ under the prescribed arrangement of the absorptive materials. The genetic algorithm searches the optimal arrangement by referring the ep evaluated from the BEM simulation. In the BEM simulation, the absorptive material arrangement is expressed as a vector, which is denoted as in absorptive material arrangement (AMA) vector. Besides, an admittance vector of which elements are admittances of available absorptive materials and an AMA matrix that transforms the admittance vector into the AMA vector are defined. The AMA matrix is also used as a chromosome in the genetic algorithm so that it functions to relate the BEM simulation to the genetic algorithm. As a verification example, the proposed method is applied to make the quiet zone in a parallelepiped enclosure.
Purpose: This study is to search for the core factors of improving business performance of small and medium venture manufacturing company and to do an in-depth analysis of the relations with management performance through systematic approach and to provide implications of importance of the management for the improvement factors for the domestic small and medium venture manufacturing company. Methods: The data have been analyzed via the regression and path analysis using AMOS. Results: this study is absorptive capacity affects the business performance of manufacturing companies. absorptive capacity has the role of the parameters of the Quality Management System and business performance. Conclusion: This study suggests how to run absorptive capacity according to type of management performance, and how to enhance Quality Management System to efficiently promote absorptive capacity in order to grow of management performance. also, this study shows a way to enlarge the valuation standard for management and customer performance reflecting the growth potential of an enterprise in circumstance where the valuation standard focuses on financial performance.
