Metachromasy of Methylene Blue and Thionine on the Phospholipid Bilayer Membrane (Phospholipid 이중층막에서 Methylene Blue와 Thionine의 Metachromasy)

  • Metachromatic properties of admixture of thionine and methylene blue(MB) in aqueous solution and phospholipid bilayer membrane have been studied by absorption spectroscopy. When thionine and MB were mixed, new coaggregate has been formed because of MB was redistributed to thionine aggregate. In phosphlipid bilayer membrane system, the highly concentrated thionine was easily formed the coaggregation with MB moiety independent of MB concentration, and absorption band of admixture were more transferred to short wavelength than aqueous system. In monomeric thionine concentration, the coaggregation band was observed at the middle wavelength between the site of monomeric thionine and the site of dimeric MB in the presence of lipid bilayer membrane.

  • This study was made to investigate the effect of silk fabrics treated with mimosa and tannic acid-weighting effect, surface color according to temprature, treatment time, concentration, pH. The results were as follows ; 1. The wavelength of maximum absorption of mimosa and tannic acid solution appeared at 278.5nm and 275.0nm, respectively. By the irradiation, spectra at wavelength of maximum absorption of mimosa solution disappeared, but those of tannic acid solution decreased after 48hr irradiation. 2. The tannin weighting increased with the increase of concentration, treatment temperature at 8$0^{\circ}C$, acidic condition. In case of tannic acid, it was higher than mimosa. 3. Surface color of silk fabric with mimosa changed from 2.8YR to 5.8YR acc-ording to the increase o( tannin concentration but in case of tannic acid itchanged from 4.2Y to 3.9Y. It was more changed acidic or alkaline conditionthan origine solution.

Ag/a-$Se_{75}Ge_{25}$ 박막의 Ag Doping Mechanism 해석[ll]-Ag 도핑의 광에너지 의존성

  • The degree of the photodoping process in Ag(100 )/a-$Se_{75}Ge_{25}$(2000 ) films has been measured as a funcition of photon energy between 1.5eV and 2.9eV with the exposing time. The window of Ag occurs at 3400 (3.65eV) and Ag is almost transparent in this region. It was shown that transmitance is always constant (40∼50%) for the wavelength ranges of our experiment. It was found that the energy gap of a unexposed a-$Se_{75}Ge_{25}$ film is 1.81eV. Ag photodoping process result in the photodarkenting effect which the absorption edge shift to the large wavelength. Especially, we could obtain very large band shut ( ∼0.3eV) resulting in exposing He-Ne laser(6328[ ]). From the result of our experimental, we suggest that Ag photodoping process depends on the photon absorption in Ag.

  • Silyl-containing tetraphenylsilole, 1,1-bis(trisilyl)tetraphenylsilole, has been synthesized from the reaction of dichlorotetraphenylsilole and dichlorotrisilane and characterized by using NMR spectroscopy. Bis(trisilyl)tetraphenylsilole exhibits an unusual optical property and its optical property was characterized by UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. Absorption wavelength maxima of bis(trisilyl)tetraphenylsilole was 380 nm. Bis(trisilyl)tetraphenylsilole displayed an emission band at 530 nm with an excitation wavelength of 380 nm.

Influence of Exchange-Correlation Functional in the Calculations of Vertical Excitation Energies of Halogenated Copper Phthalocyanines using Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory (TD-DFT)

  • The accurate prediction of vertical excitation energies is very important for the development of new materials in the dye and pigment industry. A time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) approach coupled with 22 different exchange-correlation functionals was used for the prediction of vertical excitation energies in the halogenated copper phthalocyanine molecules in order to find the most appropriate functional and to determine the accuracy of the prediction of the absorption wavelength and observed spectral shifts. Among the tested functional, B3LYP functional provides much more accurate vertical excitation energies and UV-vis spectra. Our results clearly provide a benchmark calibration of the TD-DFT method for phthalocyanine based dyes and pigments used in industry.

  • TiO$_2$ nanoparticles were prepared by photochemical synthesis in the dry toluene. The shape and size of the amorphous TiO$_2$ nanoparticles were investigated by transmission electron microscope. The particle size was varied by the contents of the titanium (IV) isopropoxide in dry toluene. Especially networked TiO$_2$ particles were formed from 40% titanium (IV) isopropoxide solution. The optical absorption spectra, photoluminescence, and PL excitation spectra of TiO$_2$ in dry toluene were obtained. The were shifted to the short wavelength as the contents of TiO$_2$ were increased. PL excitation had the peak at the wavelength regions is which the absorption increased steeply.

Nonlinear Optical Properties and Photoluminescence of CuCl Nanocrystals Embedded in Silica Glass

  • Linear and nonlinear optical properties of CuCl nanocrystals in silica glass have been studied using low temperature absorption, degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM), and time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy. Assuming a spherical shape, effective radius of the CuCl quantum dots was estimated to be 2.5 nm, which is obtained from low temperature absorption data. The DFWM experiment was performed in 380-386 nm wavelength region, and the diffracted signal was measured as a function of wavelength with 1.0 nm interval. Time-resolved photoluminescence measurement was also carried out at 77 K to obtain the time response of CuCl nanocrystals. The experimental results on the large third order nonlinear optical of CuCl quantum dots are explained in terms of crystal size and oscillator strength of quantum spheres.

  • Organometallic polymers containing spirosilole unit have been interested, since spirosiloles has a unique optical and electronic properties. New functionalized spirosiloles (2,5-dibromo-3,4,6,7,8,9-hexaphenylspirosilole, DBHPSS) have been synthesized from the reduction of bis(1,1-phenylethynyl)-2,3,4,5-tetraphenylsilole with lithium naphthalenide for the possible applications in optics. DBHPSS has been characterized by $^1H$-NMR, fluorescence, and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Bis(phenylethynyl)tetraphenylsilole displays an emission maxima at 490 nm with an excitation wavelength of 380 nm. However, DBHPSS displays an emission maxima at 550 nm with an excitation wavelength of 420 nm.

Analysis and Dyeing of Natural Pigments Extracted from Onion Shell(Allium cepa) (양파 외피에서 추출한 수용성 색소의 분석)

  • 도시 Traditionally, dyes extracted from onion shells have been used as natural pigments but dyeing methods with reproducibility have not been developed. In this study, the dyes were analyzed by high performance thin layer chromatography(HPTLC) to obtain the ratio of pigments in water and ethyl acetate extract. Furthermore, the present study was also carried out to obtain the information characteristic of wavelength which proportionally decrease for continuous dyeing reaction. Scanning of water extract showed 4 peaks by the mobile phase of benzene/ethyl acetate/acetic acid(40/10/5) and the peak 1 exhibited yellow color with the maximal absorption spectra of 306nm and 309nm while ethyl acetate extract showed 9 peaks in the same mobile phase. The water extract after ethyl acetate extraction was adjusted to 0.5 of O.D.(optical density) at 550nm by adding of water and compared wavelength of the pigments from 200 to 600nm to find the proportional decrease of wavelength. As the result, it showed that wavelength of 306nm could be the standard of dyeing monitoring points.

  • In this paper, we have investigated the output characteristics of the Stokes Raman laser in hydrogen, deuterium, and their mixed gases as a function of the incident pump energy and gas pressure using KrF excimer laser as pumping source for generating the differential absorption lidar (DIAL) wavelengths suitable in measuring the ozone concentration of the troposphere. The optimization results of compact excimer-Raman laser transmitter in DIAL system for the tropospheric ozone sounding at the 292 nm/319 m and 292 nm/313 nm wavelength pairs are presented. for the ozone sounding in the 4-12 km range, it has been demonstrated that the design of transmitter for DIAL lidar may be significantly simplified by the use of 292 nm/319 nm wavelength pair. The investigations of Raman scattering in the mixture of hydrogen and deuterium gases have shown that such mixture may be efficiently used for developing the multi- wavelength light sources for DIAL systems.
