Objectives: To develop and evaluate the applicability of a health literacy instrument in patients with diabetes by measuring their ability to understand diabetes-related words. Methods: Diabetes-related words were extracted from the Korean Diabetes Association's website and literature reviews. In the first phase, three nursing researchers evaluated 2,661 diabetes-related words based on graded lexical vocabularies and what patients need to know about self-care, and the narrowed them to 255 words. In the second phase, a content validity assessment was conducted by an expert panel. In the third phase, the remaining 25 words were administered to 200 conscientious with type 2 patients aged 40 years old and using a Gallup survey from March 3 to 17, 2016 in Seoul, Korea. Descriptive analysis and Rasch analysis were performed to test psychometric properties. Results: The mean score was 21.47 with a range of 0 to 25. The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was .92. The health literacy instrument using diabetes-related words had a ceiling effect response. Conclusions: Diabetes-related words are useful and reliable items for testing the health literacy of diabetes patients. Future study is needed to develop and validate health literacy measures for diabetic patients.
Students' engagement is important for meaningful learning and it has multifaceted aspects for their science learning. This study investigated elementary students' perceptions of science learning engagement. The subjects of this study were 341 4th to 6th elementary students. The survey questionnaires were 5-Likert scale questions and free response questions on science learning engagement. The results showed that elementary students' perceptions of behavioral engagement were higher than emotional and cognitive engagement. Keyword network analysis with NetMiner program showed that the frequent key words of science learning engagement were 'experiment', 'listening', and 'teachers' explanation', which were mostly the behavioral types of engagement. The degree centrality and eigenvector centrality of these key words appeared high. 'Interest', which is emotional engagement, were also one of the frequent key words, but the centralities of this word were relatively low. The Frequent key words of science learning disengagement were mostly related with off-tasks, not doing expected behaviors and negative emotions about science and science learning. Educational implications on science learning engagement were discussed.

In this research, I conducted a semantic network analysis centering on media articles on purchasing, revitalizing, and utilizing the former Busan branch of Hansung Bank, a modern architectural heritage. We sought the most efficient analysis elements for the analysis of the social arguments about preservation and utilization embedded in media articles. For this reason, Degree Centrality measures how many connections the word described in the media article has, and Betweenness Centrality measures the influence that controls the flow of information through correlation I examined. In addition, keyword that express the theme well examined the aggregation structure in each sub-network. In this research, in theoretical terms, it makes sense in that the social discussion embedded in the article of the mass media is grasped empirically through semantic network analysis of words. Methodological aspect is best when it includes nouns and adjectives and the distance between words is more than four words in the analysis of the cohesive structure of the semantic network to determine whether the influence of social discussions is best assessed through the connection between words to media articles.
The purpose of this study is to consider the health and well-being of singing, an expression activity of language. There are also many studies in which singing activities have a positive effect on individual quality of life and social activities. Therefore, this study attempted to suggest that more effective singing is being performed by increasing empathy through various expressions of onomatopoeia and mimic words. Love Changbu Taryeong (愛倡夫打令) is Korea's traditional representative Gyeonggi folk song. It is a cheerful and lyrical folk song based on the five scale of Sol-ra-do-re-mi. It sings not only human joy, sorrow, and pleasure, but also natural phenomena and scenes. It is an exciting rhythm based mainly on the Gutgeori jangdan (rhythmic pattern, 12/8) but it is a rhythm that you can feel the sadness in it. In particular, various onomatopoeia and mimic words appear in this song, making you think about the fun of singing and the origin of the language. Therefore, this study attempted to examine that more effective singing is becoming more effective by increasing empathy through various expressions of onomatopoeia and mimic words. You can watch our singing activities on YouTube.(https://youtu.be/IhnBqWiK-3w?si=AAMi2BVes9mPShnr)
This thesis composes separated words in text for extracting keywords from Japanese, proposes extracting indexing keywords which consist of a compound noun using words and sentences information with the rules in the sentences. It constructs generative rules of compound nouns to be based In dependence as a result of analysing character of keywords in the text not the same way as before. To hold other extracting keywords and the content of sentence, and suggest how to decide importance concerned some restriction and repetition of words about generative rules. To verify the validity of keywords extracting, we have used titles and abstracts from Japanese thesis 65 files about natural language and/or voice processing, and obtain 63% in outputting one in the top rank.
The Science and Technology Information Service provided by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) is a service designed to allow users to easily and conveniently search and view content that is built similar to the general information service. NDSL is KISTI's core science, technology and information service, providing about 138 million content and having about 93 million page views in a year of 2019. In this paper, various insights were derived through the analysis of how science and technology information such as academic papers, reports and patents provided by NDSL is searched and utilized through web services (https://www.ndsl.kr) and search query words. In addition to general statistics such as the status of content construction, utilization status and utilization methods by type of content, monthly/weekly/time-of-day content usage, content view rate per one-time search by content type, the comparison of the use status of academic papers by year, the relationship between the utilization of domestic academic papers and the KCI index we analyzed the usability of each content type, such as academic papers and patents. We analyzed query words such as the language form of query words, the number of words of query words, and the relationship between query words and timeliness by content type. Based on the results of these analyses, we would like to propose ways to improve the service. We suggest that NDSL improvements include ways to dynamically reflect the results of content utilization behavior in the search results rankings, to extend query and to establish profile information through non-login user identification for targeted services.
This study aims to compare the word decoding skills, phonological awareness (PA), rapid automatized naming (RAN) skills, and letter knowledge of first graders with developmental dyslexia (DD) and those who were typically developing (TD). Eighteen children with DD and eighteen TD children, matched by nonverbal intelligence and discourse ability, participated in the study. Word decoding of Korean language-based reading assessment(Pae et al., 2015) was conducted. Phoneme-grapheme correspondent words were analyzed according to whether the word has meaning, whether the syllable has a final consonant, and the position of the grapheme in the syllable. Letter knowledge asked about the names and sounds of 12 consonants and 6 vowels. The children's PA of word, syllable, body-coda, and phoneme blending was tested. Object and letter RAN was measured in seconds. The decoding difficulty of non-words was more noticeable in the DD group than in the TD one. The TD children read the syllable initial and syllable final position with 99% correctness. Children with DD read with 80% and 82% correctness, respectively. In addition, the DD group had more difficulty in decoding words with two patchims when compared with the TD one. The DD group read only 57% of words with two patchims correctly, while the TD one read 91% correctly. There were significant differences in body-coda PA, phoneme level PA, letter RAN, object RAN, and letter-sound knowledge between the two groups. This study confirms the existence of Korean developmental dyslexics, and the urgent need for the inclusion of a Korean-specific phonics approach in the education system.

The purpose of this study was to explore the differences in perceptions of male and female students about population problems and to draw up implications for population education. Using text mining, the report about population problem, which had written by students in population education class, were analysed. After extracting key words, semantic networks were visualized. The results were as follows. First, the high frequency words were the same for each gender. Second, key words based on frequency did not differ depending on gender. And the key words extracted by the correlation analysis and bigram were different. That is, in the semantic network of girls' words, the network of "life"-"marriage"-"birth"-"pregnancy" appeared independently, distinguishing it from male students who showed separate objective links to population problems. Therefore, it drew suggestions that male and female students should be viewed as heterogeneous groups with different cognitive structures on population problems and that the content and methods of population education should be approached differently depending on gender.
Hanok (a traditional Korean-style house) has recently become a popular attraction for tourists all over the world. Jeonju Hanok Village, for example, attracted about 10 million visitors for 2 consecutive years. Observing Hanok's popularity, many local governments drew up plans to improve tourism dynamics by strengthening the advantages of Hanok. Emotionally rich experience is required to offer a greater satisfying experience that meets the demands of tourists. However, very few studies yet have addressed how to measure those emotions felt by users while experiencing Hanok. As an attempt to improve this situation, 182 emotional words were collected from earlier studies and classified into 33 groups with the Delphi method. Among the emotional words in each of the 33 groups, those of overlapping concepts on the characteristics of Hanok were re-grouped, and extracted the most appropriate 68 words. Additionally, a survey was conducted with 325 people who had experienced Hanok to gather 30-most representative emotions for measuring emotions felt from Hanok. The factor analysis of the 30 representative emotions resulted in classified 6 factors based on common features of emotional words: senses of aesthetics, happiness, novelty, ownership, balance and relaxation. The 30 representative emotions and six emotion categories found out by this study can help measure how much people feel certain emotions while experiencing hanoks. Further study will explore the degree of emotions hanok users feel about objects of hanok, such as roof materials and shapes, and body shapes.
Sentiment analysis refers to a way of analyzing the writer's subjective opinions or feelings through text. For effective sentiment analysis, it is essential to build emotional word polarity lexicon. This paper introduces a crowdsourcing-based game that we have developed for efficiently building a polarity lexicon in Korean. First, we collected a corpus from the relating Internet communities using a crawler, and we classified them into words using the Twitter POS analyzer. These POS-tagged words are provided as a form of mobile platform based tagging game in which the players voluntarily tagged the polarities of the words, and then the result was collected into the database. So far we have tagged the polarities of about 1200 words. We expect that our research can contribute to the Korean sentiment analysis research especially in the game domain by collecting more emotional word data in the future.
