PSIP Converter based on PMCP for Terrestrial/Cable Data Broadcasting Retransmission Service (지상파/케이블 데이터방송 재전송 서비스를 위한 PMCP 기반 PSIP 변환기)

  • In this paper, we implemented a terrestrial/cable PSIP converting system, so-called a PSIP converter, which is converting a terrestrial PSIP into a cable PSIP for a data broadcasting service in the interoperable network of terrestrial and cable, and define an interface between the PSIP converter and the OOB SI generator by using PMCP messages compliant to ATSC T3/Sl. The exiting PSIP converter just converts a terrestrial PSIP into a cable PSIP compliant to ATSC and OCAP standard and transmits by a MPEG-2 TS format. That is to say, it is not for the digital data broadcasting but for the digital broadcasting. In addition, the PSIP converter can support various types of PSIP information to the OOB SI generator by using PMCP messages defined by a hierarchical structure as per each channel, audio/video event, data event and so on.

  • This Paper Proposes the algorithm for improving the Performance or symbol timing synchronization in hoc terrestrial DTV system. The Gardner algerian is used for symbol timing synchronization has good performance in multipath fading environment but degradation of performance is caused by jitter. Though the amount of jitter becomes more little as narrow bandwidth of loop Inter, convergence speed becomes slower. This paper propose the algorithm that averages out values of loop filter every certain time and gradually reduces the bandwidth of loop filter after estimating offset using this average for the high speed of convergence and reducing the met of jitter. The proposed algorithm has better performance with high speed of convergence and the amount of jitter than conventional method.

  • ATSC is currently working on standardization of hybrid 3DTV broadcasting service in heterogenous network environment after completion of service-compatible 3DTV broadcasting service standard based on broadcasting channel. This paper proposes a convergence 3D video broadcasting method on broadcasting and IP network while guaranteeing a Full-HD 3D quality without degrading the image quality of legacy DTV. Specifically, this paper describes transmission of the 3D additional video using the ISO/IEC 23009-1 DASH, robust synchronization method under heterogenous network environments and system target decoder model for hybrid 3DTV receiver. Based on experimental results, we confirm that proposed technologies can be used as a core technology in the hybrid 3DTV standardization and a reference model for a development of hybrid 3DTV encoder and receiver.

  • ATSC (Advanced Television System Committee) has specified 18 video formats for DTV (Digital Television), e.g., scan format, size format, and frame rate format conversion. Effective MPEG-2 video transcoders should support any conversion between the above-mentioned formats. Scan format conversion Is hard to Implement because it may often induce frame rate and size format conversion together. Especially. because of picture type conversion caused by scan format conversion, the computational burden of motion estimation (ME) in transcoding becomes serious. This paper proposes a fast ME algorithm for MPEG-2 video transcoding supporting scan format conversion. Firstly, we extract and compose a set of candidate motion vectors (MVs) from the input bit-stream to comply with the re-encoding format. Secondly, the best MV is chosen among several candidate MVs by using a weighted median selector. Simulation results show that the proposed ME algorithm provides outstanding PSNR performance close to full search ME, while reducing the transcoding complexity significantly.

  • In this paper, we simulated terrestrial digital broadcasting system and analyzed the performance of 8-VSB signal and carried out baseband simulation of tranceiver modeling by standard parameter and passband simulation for interchannel interference. Also, an error rate equation for fading and interference of 8-VSB signal is derived. As a result, the case not to consider Rician fading, the influence of the interference did not exist if frequency interval fell off over the 20MHz. The case to consider Rician fading, the system had the degradation of the performance.

  • KBS and ETRI have co-developed an advanced DOCR(Digital On Channel Repeater) which has an equalization and pre-distortion function and can be operated properly under lower isolation of reception and transmission antennas. Field tests of the DOCR were performed twice in Suwon area in 2004 and 2005. This paper summarizes the characteristics of the DOCR system and field test results in Suwon. The changes in DOCR coverage according to the different generations of ATSC DTV receivers were also analyzed. Basic concept to apply the DOCR system in DTV broadcasting networks in Korea is suggested through test results.

  • 본 논문에서는 데이터 방송 송출 시스템 구조와 작동 방법에 관하여 기술한다. 또한 본 시스템을 통하여 다중화되어 전송된 비동기/동기화 비스트림(Non-stream)을 분석하고 데이터 방송 단말 화면에 재생되는 결과에 대하여 서술한다. 본 논문에서는 데이터 방송 서비스를 위하여 프로그램 다중화기 모듈을 변경하지 않고, 비동기/동기화 데이터를 전송할 수 있도록 데이터 인젝터라는 모듈을 개발하였다. 이와 관련하여 데이터 방송 송출 시스템을 제어하는 다중화 관리기/프로그램 스케줄러, 부가 데이터를 MPEG-2 부호화하는 데이터 서버, PSI/PSIP/SDF 테이블을 생성하는 PSIP 서버 모듈과의 연동을 통해 비동기/동기화된 비스트림 데이터를 전송할 수 있도록 데이터 방송 송출 시스템을 구현하였다.

  • 지상파 DTV 방송의 직접수신 환경을 개선하기 위해서는 DTV 방송음영지역의 발생 원인과 실제 음영지역의 발생 유형을 정확히 분석할 필요가 있다. 우리나라의 DTV 직접 수신환경은 전 국토의 70%에 이르는 산악 지형과 높은 인구 밀도로 인해 고층 건물이 밀집되어 있어 전파 간섭이 발생하여 직접 수신이 어려울 가능성이 높다. 특히 DTV는 아날로그 방송에 비해 주파수 파장이 짧은 UHF 대역으로만 송출하게 되어있어 지역에 따라서는 건물이나 산 등에 의해 전파의 손실이 기존 VHF 대역보다 크게 나타난다. 이러한 전파 음영지역은 도심지의 경우 국부적으로 발생하는 것이 일반적이다. 본 논문에서는 DTV의 수신 장애가 일어나는 원인의 분석을 위해 보다 더 정밀하게 DTV 전파 환경을 조사할 수 있는 이동수신 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 제안하는 시스템을 통해 DTV 신호를 수신하는데 있어 발생할 수 있는 다양한 형태의 전파 장애 지역을 신속하게 찾아내고 그 원인을 분석할 수 있다.

  • In order to fill the gaps in DTV coverage, KBS Technical Research Institute has researched on DTV on-channel repeating systems as well as DTV translators. The on-channel repeater can reuse frequency resources for expanding service coverage. but it has also many restricts in applications for ATSC DTV system. Thiss Paper compares two kinds of DTV on-channel repealer systems and also presents field test results of both systems. From these results, we Infer their characteristics and summarize the conditions and possibilities of the application for our broadcasting networks.

  • 동일 주파수를 이용하여 방송신호를 송출하는 동일채널중계기의 신호 송출 타이밍과 파워를 조절함으로써 신호 중첩지역에 위치한 수신기의 성능 열화를 최소화 할 수 있다. 이를 위해 방송망을 구성하는 각각의 동일채널중계기에 고유의 TxID를 부여하여 DTV 신호에 낮은 파워로 삽입하여 송출한다. 본 논문에서는 동일채널중계기에 삽입된 TxID 신호의 검출 성능을 향상시키기 위한 방법을 제안하고 모의실험을 통해 제안된 방법의 효과를 검증한다.
