  • Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) technology is emerging as a core technology of Future Combat Systems (FCS). Conventional ATR is performed based on IMINT (image information) collected from the SAR sensor, and various image-based deep learning models are used. However, with the development of IT and sensing technology, even though data/information related to ATR is expanding to HUMINT (human information) and SIGINT (signal information), ATR still contains image oriented IMINT data only is being used. In complex and diversified battlefield situations, it is difficult to guarantee high-level ATR accuracy and generalization performance with image data alone. Therefore, we propose a knowledge graph-based ATR method that can utilize image and text data simultaneously in this paper. The main idea of the knowledge graph and deep model-based ATR method is to convert the ATR image and text into graphs according to the characteristics of each data, align it to the knowledge graph, and connect the heterogeneous ATR data through the knowledge graph. In order to convert the ATR image into a graph, an object-tag graph consisting of object tags as nodes is generated from the image by using the pre-trained image object recognition model and the vocabulary of the knowledge graph. On the other hand, the ATR text uses the pre-trained language model, TF-IDF, co-occurrence word graph, and the vocabulary of knowledge graph to generate a word graph composed of nodes with key vocabulary for the ATR. The generated two types of graphs are connected to the knowledge graph using the entity alignment model for improvement of the ATR performance from images and texts. To prove the superiority of the proposed method, 227 documents from web documents and 61,714 RDF triples from dbpedia were collected, and comparison experiments were performed on precision, recall, and f1-score in a perspective of the entity alignment..

  • We propose a D-ATR UWB (Differential-Average Transmitted Reference Ultra Wide Band) system based on impulse radio. The TR-UWB systems including traditional TR (Transmitted Reference) and ATR (Average TR), exhibit a problem of reduced data rate, since reference signals are additionally transmitted. To tackle this issue, the transmitter of the proposed D-ATR system employs a differential coding like the conventional D-TR system. In addition, the receiver of the proposed system has the structure that can improve signal-to-noise ratio of the reference template used in the correlation process, by recursively averaging the received reference signals like the conventional ATR system. The simulation results in the IEEE 802.15.4a UWB multipath channel models reveal that the proposed D-ATR system achieves much better bit error rate performance as compared to the conventional D- TR system.

  • FRIR-ATR spectrometry has been used to monitor the aqueous reactions of compounds without distinct chromophores in ultraviolet and visible regions. For example, hydrolysis reactions of ${\alpha}$-cyclodextrin and ${\gamma}$-cyclodextrin in acidic aqueous solution were studied. FTIR-ATR method has been used for the monitoring of cyclodextrin hydrolysis in 1.0 M. 0.5 M, and 0.1 M HCl solutions, respectively. We also found that the hydrolysis of ${\alpha}$-cyclodextrin produced glucose, but the hydrolysis of ${\gamma}$-cyclodextrin proceeded further to give more fragmented products than glucose.

  • NCTR(Non-Cooperative Target Recognition) and ATR(Automatic Target Recognition) are methodologies to identify military targets using radar, optical, and infrared images. Among them, a strategy to recognize ground targets using synthetic aperature radar(SAR) images is called SAR ATR. In general, SAR ATR consists of three sequential stages: detection, discrimination and classification. In this paper, a modification of the polar mapping classifier(PMC) to identify inverse SAR(ISAR) images has been made in order to apply it to SAR ATR. In addition, a preprocessing scheme can mitigate the effect from the clutter, and information on the shadow is employed to improve the classification accuracy.

  • The adhesives joining Buddhist scripture scrolls from medieval Korea(Goryeo Dynasty, A.D. 918~1392) are different from wheat starch adhesive. The composition of the adhesive was analyzed using Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transform Infrared(ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy. In the adhesive used to join Buddhist scripture scrolls, peaks attributed to amide I and amide II of the protein and carbohydrate were detected in the ATR-FTIR spectra, and no carbonyl peak($1745cm^{-1}$) for oil was detected in the 2nd derivative ATR-FTIR spectra. The ATR-FTIR spectra almost coincided with those of defatted soybean powder adhesive. Hence, the adhesives joining Buddhist scripture scrolls were inferred to be soybean adhesive prepared from a defatted soybean cake.

  • During meiosis I, programmed DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) occur to promote chromosome pairing and recombination between homologs. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Mec1 and Tel1, the orthologs of human ATR and ATM, respectively, regulate events upstream of the cell cycle checkpoint to initiate DNA repair. Tel1ATM and Mec1ATR are required for phosphorylating various meiotic proteins during recombination. This study aimed to investigate the role of Tel1ATM and Mec1ATR in meiotic prophase via physical analysis of recombination. Tel1ATM cooperated with Mec1ATR to mediate DSB-to-single end invasion transition, but negatively regulated DSB formation. Furthermore, Mec1ATR was required for the formation of interhomolog joint molecules from early prophase, thus establishing a recombination partner choice. Moreover, Mec1ATR specifically promoted crossover-fated DSB repair. Together, these results suggest that Tel1ATM and Mec1ATR function redundantly or independently in all post-DSB stages.

  • Salmonella typhimurium can encounter a wide variety of environments during its life cycle. In nature, S. typhimurium can experience and survive dramatic acid stresses that occur in diverse ecological niches ranging from pond water to phagolysosomes. These survival mechanism is aquired by the Acid Tolerance Response(ATR) in Salmonella. The ATR of S. typhimurium is a complex inducible phenomenon in which exposures to slight or moderate low pH will produce a stress response capable of protecting the organism against more severe acid challenges. ATR in Salmonella has two different systems that are called RpoS dependent and independent. We found that ATR in anaerobic was showed RpoS independent because rpoS$\Omega$AP had ATR as S. typhimurium UK1. Using the P22 MudJ(Km, lacZ) operon fusion technique and a lethal selection procedure combining low pH(pH4.5) and sodium acetate(10mM, pH4.5), we isolated LF487 aatA::MudJ which showed acid sensitive in anaerobic condition. aatA locus was determined at 12 min on Salmonella Genetic Map. The survival rate of aatA mutant was showed significantly diminished at pH4.3 than virulent wild type Salmonella in anaerobic condition(5% $CO_2$, 5% H$_2$, 90% $N_2$). Therefore isolated gene was confirmed important gene for anaerobic ATR system.

  • In this study, we have evaluated the water absorption phenomenon of photoresist dry film, which is commonly used to build circuits on PCB (Printed Circuit Board) by photolithography, by using ATR-FTIR (Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transform Infrared). We have firstly observed significant change in fracture mode of dry film with respect to temperature and humidity, which we assumed the material transition from ductile to brittle. Secondly, we have established the process of absorption test for determining the diffusion coefficients of water into the dry film both with gravimeter and ATR-FTIR. We have successfully calculated the diffusion coefficients for each environmental conditions from the results which we achieved by gravimeter and ATR-FTIR. Compared to the gravimeter which is a conventional method for absorption test, the ATR-FTIR method in this study has been found to be very easy to use and have the same accuracy as gravimeter. Moreover, we are expecting to use the ATR-FTIR as an appropriate method to study the absorption phenomena related to any kinds of solvent and polymer system.

  • The acid tolerance response (ATR) of log-phase Salmouella enterica seroyar Typhimurium is induced by acid adaptation below pH4.5 and will protect cells against more severe acid. Two distinctive ATR systems in thisorganism are a log-phase and stationary-phase ATR in which acid adaptations trigger the synthesis of acid shockproteins (ASPs). We found that log-phase ATR system was strongly affected by environmental factor, low tem-perature, $25^{\circ}C$. Exposure to low temperature and mild acid has been shown to increase acid survival dra-matically, and this survival rate was showed higher than $37^{\circ}C$. Especially unadapted cells at $25^{\circ}C$ presented tenthousand folds survival increasing when compared with cells at $37^{\circ}C$. The degree of acid tolerance of rpoSwhich is blown to be required for acid tolerance more increase than $37^{\circ}C$. Even though AIR pattern of rpoSbetween unadapted and adapted was showed similar at pH 3.1, rpoS-dependent ATR system also has beendetected in low temperature because rpoSAp prevents sustained acid survival at $25^{\circ}C$. Therefore the resultssuggest low temperature ATR system requires rpoS-dependent and -independent both. To investigate the basisfor low temperature related ATR system, gene that was participated for low temperature acid tolerance (lat) wasscreened in virulent S. enterica serovar Typhimurium UKl Using the technique of P22- MudJ (Km, lacZ)-directed lacZ operon fusion, LF452 latA‥‥MudJ was isolated. The latA‥‥MudJ of S. enterica Typhimurium pre-vented low temperature acid tolerance response. Therefore latA is considered one of the important genes for acidadaptation.
