Water Repellent Finish of Polyester Fabric Using Glow Discharge Treatment (글로우방전을 이용한 폴리에스테르 직물의 투습방수성 개질)

  • We have treated polyester fabric with $CF_4,\;C_2F_6,\;SF_6\;and\;C_3F_6$ glow discharge plasmas to develop functional fabrics which preserve moisture transportation and water proofing nature. Modified properties were evaluated by water vapor permeation rate and breakthrough water pressure. The change of surface morphology was observed by SEM. Fiber interstice of the plasma treated fabric was calculated as $0.32{\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and this value was sufficiently ideal as water repellent material. The moisture transportation of ${CF_4}-treated$ fabric was good as much as untreated fabric, and those of $C_2$F(sub)6-treated, SF(sub)6-treated fabrics were reduced by 1~3%, and that of ${C_3F_6}-treated$ fabric was reduced by 15%. The best treatment condition were 0.06 torr 120 seconds in $CF_4$, 0.05 torr 30 seconds in $SF_6$, 0.08~0.15 torr 90 seconds in $SF_6$ and 0.1 torr 45 seconds in $C_3F_6$ respectively. The grade of moisture transportation effect was $CF_4>C_2F_6>SF_6>>C_3F_6$, and water proofing effect was $C_2F_6{\approx}CF_4>C_3F_6>SF_6$. It was observed by SEM that the thin film was formed on the surface of the treated substrate by the fluorocarbon plasma treatment.

  • The selective dry etching of GaAs to Al\ulcornerGa\ulcornerAs using $BCI_3/SF_6$ gas mixture in electron cyclotron resonance(ECR) plasma is investigated. A selectivity of GaAs to AlGaAs of more than 100 and maximum etch rate of GaAs are obtained at a gas ratio $SF_6/BCI_3+SF_6$ of 25%. We verified the formation of $AlF_3$ on $Al_{0.25}Ga_{0.75}As$from the Auger spectra which enhanced the etch selectivity. In order to investigate surface damage of AlGaAs caused by ECR plasma, we performed a low temperature photoluminescence(PL) measurement as a function of RF power. As the RF power. As the RF power increases, the PL intensity decreases monotonically from 50 to 100 Wand then repidly decreases until 250 W. This behavior is due to surface damage by plasma treatment. This dry etching technique using $BCI_3/SF_6$ gas mixture in ECR plasma is suitable for gate recess formation on the GaAs based pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor(PHEMT)

  • Alachlor, 2-chloro-2, '6'-diethyl-N-(methoxymethyl) acetanilide, which had been incubated in the flooded paddy soils yielded 1-formyl-2,3-dihydro-7-ethylindole, 2,6-diethylaniline, 2,6-diethylacetanilide, 2,6-diethyl-N-(methoxymethyl) acetanilide, 2-hydroxy-2, '6'-diethyl-N-(methoxymethyl) acetanilide, and three unidentifiable compounds as its degradation products. The water-soluble products of Alachlor in soil suspensions increased with incubation periods and similar results were obtained from the incubation of Rhizoctonia solani, as verified by use of the ring $-^{14}C-$labeled Alachlor. Streptomyces lavendulae Ru 3340-8 produced 2-hydroxy-2, '6'-diethyl-N-(methoxymethyl) acetanilide as the major degradation product as much as 25%, whereas Bacillus brevis IFO 3331, Bacillus cruciviae, and Pseudomonas putida did not produce it.

  • This experiment was conducted to find out the response of orchardgrass (Dactylis glorneruta L.) varieties to grazing at the condition of monocultures and mixed pastures on the field of Livestock Experiment Station at Suwon from Sep. 1989 to Oct. 1991. The varieties of orchardgrass used in this experiment were Potomac, Hallmark and Syn. No. 2 as a early maturing type, and Lidacta, Rancho and Syn. No. 10 as a late maturing type. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Herbage utilization of mixture with Hallmark variety(T2) was the highest as 78.2% and that with Rancho variety(T5) was the lowest as 70.2%. but there was no difference(P>0.05). Mixtures with early maturing varieties(T1, T2 and T3) were higher as 77.4% than those with late varieties(T4, T5 and T6) as 72.9% in herbage utilization. In monocultures Rancho variety(T5) was the highest as 68.6% and Lidacta variety(T4) was the lowest as 58.8%, and mixtures with early maturing varieties(T1, T2 and T3) as 66.6% were higher than those of late(T1, 72 and 73) as 64.6%. 2. The content of crude protein of 6 mixed pastures ranged from 19.7% to 22.8%, and those of ether extracts, crude fiber, crude ash and nitrogen free extract were 6.6 to 7.5%, 24.9 to 26.2'76, 1 1.5 to 1 1.9% and 33.6-35.4 8, respectively, But there were not different significantly(P>0.05). In monocultures, significant difference by variety was observed in crude protein content(P<0.05). 3. In botanical composition, there was just a little different among 6 mixtures, having 90% or more in grass percentage. The percentages of each orchardgrass varieties were decreased, but those of perennial ryegrasses were increased as grazing sesson was progressed in all treatment.

저진공 펄스 직류 전원 $BCl_3/SF_6$ 플라즈마를 이용한 GaAs/$Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$ 화합물 반도체의 선택적 식각 연구

  • 펄스 직류 전원 $BCl_3/SF_6$ 플라즈마를 이용하여 GaAs/$Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$의 선택적 식각을 연구하였다. 식각 주요 공정 변수는 $BCl_3/SF_6$ 플라즈마에서 $SF_6$ 가스 유량(0~50%)이었다. $BCl_3/SF_6$의 총 가스 유량은 20 sccm이었다. 다른 공정 조건인 공정 압력(100 mTorr), 펄스 파워(500 V), 펄스 주파수(200 kHz), 리버스 시간 (0.7 ${\mu}s$)은 일정하게 고정시켰으며 기계적 펌프만을 이용하여 공정을 진행하였다. 오실로스코프(Oscilloscope) 데이터에 의하면 가스의 조성 변화에도 척에 걸리는 입력 전압과 전류가 거의 변화가 없었다. $BCl_3/SF_6$ 가스가 10%의 조성에서 GaAs와 $Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$의 식각 선택비가 약 48 : 1로 우수한 결과를 나타내었다. 그러나 $BCl_3/SF_6$ 가스의 증가는 GaAs의 식각율과 선택도를 감소시켰다. 그리고 $SF_6$ 가스의 조성비가 30% 이상일 경우에는 GaAs와 $Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$가 식각되지 않았다. 식각 후에 GaAs의 표면 거칠기(RMS surface roughness)는 0.7~1.3 nm로 나타났다. 위의 결과들을 종합적으로 보면 펄스 직류 전원 $BCl_3/SF_6$의 조성비가 10%일 때 가장 좋은 식각 선택비를 얻을 수 있었다.

Functional Immunity to Cross-Reactive Serotype 6A Induced by Serotype 6B in Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Vaccine (폐구균 다당질 백신 내 혈청형 6B에 의해 유도되는 교차 반응 혈청형 6A에 대한 기능적 면역)

  • Purpose : Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 6B and 6A are important pathogens in pneumococcal infections. It is commonly assumed that the 6B vaccines elicit antibodies cross-reacting with the 6A serotype and the cross-reactive antibodies protect against infections of 6A. To examine this assumption, we measured the opsonophagocytic capacity to serotype 6A and 6B in adults. Methods : Twenty-four adults were immunized with pneumococcal PS vaccine that contains 6B PS. Their preimmune and postimmune sera were studied for the capacity to opsonize 6B and 6A serotypes with opsonophagocytic killing assay. Results : Opsonization titers to 6B were significantly higher than those to 6A in preimmune and postimmune sera. Because significant increasesof opsonization titers were observed in adults with polysaccharide vaccines for 6A(cross-reactive) serotype as well as for 6B(vaccine) serotype, 6B PS in vaccine elicited cross-protective antibodies to 6A, but not in all cases. One adult did not have detectable levels of opsonization titers to 6A after immunization. Conclusion : Although 6B PS in pneumococcal PS vaccine elicits antibodies cross-reacting with 6A serotype in some adults, it may not occur always. This study should be extended to other age groups such as children and elderly people. The presence of the cross-protection should be directly determined in clinical trials of the pneumococcal vaccines as well as during the postlicensure monitoring surveys by serotyping the clinical isolates of pneumococci.

Effect of Cytosine Analogues on Cytosine Deaminase from Aspergillus fumigatus IFO 5840 (Aspergillus fumigatus IFO 5840의 Cytosine Deaminase에 미치는 Cytosine Analogue의 영향)

  • In this study investigated the effect of cytosine deaminase activity from Aspergillus fumigatus IFO 5840 by cytosine analogues. The results were as follows. The enzyme was strongly inibited by 2-thiouracil, 2-thiocytosine, 6-azacytosine and 2-mercaptopyrimidine. The half inhibitory concentration(HIC) of 2-thiocytosine and 6-azacytosine on cytosine deaminase was 0.80mM and 1.15mM, respectively. The enzyme was inhibited at a certain level by addition of 2-thiocytosine immediately, but was maintained to some extend under the inhibited state by 6-azacytosine in proportion to reaction time. Regardless of kinds of substrate such as cytosine and 5-fluorocytosine, 2-thiocytosine and 6-azacytosine showed action as inhibitors, 2-thiocytosine inhibited cytosine deaminase activity about twice as strong as 6-azacytosine. The enzyme, when cytosine was used as a substrate, was revealed the pattern of competitive inhibition by 2-thiocytosine and 6-azacytosine, The ki value for these compounds was 4.5$\times$10-4M and 1.756$\times$10-3M, respectively. At this point, the Hill coefficient for cytosine, 2-thiocytosine and 6-azacytosine was 1.80, 1.81 and 2.45, respectively.

The geometry change of carbon nanofilaments by SF6 incorporation in a thermal chemical vapor deposition system

  • Carbon nanotilaments (CNFs) could be synthesized on nickel catalyst layer-deposited silicon oxide substrate using $C_2H_2$ and$H_2$ as source gases under thermal chemical vapor deposition system. By the incorporation of $SF_6$ as a cyclic modulation manner, the geometries of carbon coils-related materials, such as nano-sized coil and wave-like nano-sized coil could be observed on the substrate. The characteristics (formation density and morphology) of as-grown CNFs with or without $SF_6$ incorporation were investigated. Diameter size reduction for the individual CNFs-related shape and the enhancement of the formation density of CNFs-related material could be achieved by the incorporation of $SF_6$ as a cyclic modulation manner. The cause for these results was discussed in association with the slightly increased etching ability by $SF_6$ addition and the sulfur role in SF 6 for the geometry change.

Importance of C-26 Demethylation for Homeostatic Regulation of Brassinosteroids in Seedling Shoots of Zea mays L (옥수수 유식물 신초에서 Brassinosteroids의 항상성 조절을 위반 C-26 탈메틸 반응의 중요성)

  • Regulatory mechanism for endogenous levels of castasterone (CS) and its biosynthetic precursors in shoots of maize was investigated by the use of enzyme solution prepared from the plant tissue. When [$^2H_0$]- and [$^2H_6$]-CS was used as substrates, [$^2H_0$]-26-norCS and [$^2H_3$]-28-norCS were identified as products, indicating that [$^2H_0$]- and [$^2H_6$]-CS are differently metabolized into [$^2H_0$]-26-norCS and [$^2H_3$]-28-norCS by C-26 and C-28 demethylation, respectively. This suggests that both C-26 and C-28 demethylation can be involved in CS catabolism. In fact that C-28 demethylation only occurred when isotope labeled substrate was used, however, C-26 demethylation is thought be a natural reaction occurred in the maize shoots. When 6-deoxoteasterone (6-deoxoTE) was used, 6-deoxo-26-norTE and 3-dehydro-6-deoxo-26-norTE as well as 6-deoxo-3-dehydroTE and 6-deoxotyphasterol (6-deoxoTY) were identified as enzyme products. When 6-deoxoTY was added, 6-deoxo-26-norTY as well as 6-deoxo-3-dehydroTE and 6-deoxoTE was identified as products. These indicate that C-26 demethylation of 6-deoxoTE, 6-deoxo-3-dehydroTE and 6-deoxoTY as well as a reversible C-3 epimerization from 6-deoxoTE to 6-deoxoTY intermediated by 6-deoxo-3-dehydroTE are operative in the maize shoots, demonstrating that endogenous levels of biosynthetic precursors of CS are also controlled by C-26 demethylation. Therefore, it is thought that C-26 demethylation is an important and a common deactivation process which functions to maintain steady state levels of endogenous brassinosteroids in the maize shoots.

  • IPv6 and Ubiquitous Healthcare Environment (UHE) has become a main stream of the next generation technologies. IPv6 is designed in many ways with enhanced features such as a routing, mobility, scalability, QOS and security as a replacement of IPv4. Also, UHE is developed to provide patients with convenience and efficient healthcare services using the remote home healthcare system. However, IPv4 currently used as an Internet protocol does not have enough capability to fully support UHE. It may result in a restricted implementation of UHE. As a result, research on IPv6 implementations in UHE is increasingly becoming an issue within the healthcare industry. IPv6 has enhanced features to implement the remote healthcare system such as Neighbour Discovery process and address auto-configuration. In this paper, a basic of IPv6 and UHE will be firstly introduced and secondly, benefits brought by IPv6 in UHE will be discussed. In addition, security issues in IPv6 will be analysed to conclude this paper.
