A Case Study of Augmented Reality Marketing (증강현실 마케팅 사례 연구)

  • This study is intended to study the usage of augmented reality(AR) in the marketing field by classifying them into display and content types and analyzing the typical cases and characteristics. The market for AR has been on the increase and has been a big influence in the marketing field, resulting in the generalization of the term "AR marketing." By analyzing the marketing cases which use AR technology and organizing the frequency of use and characteristics, it is expected to contribute as a basic material for future studies on AR marketing. In this study, AR marketing cases are classified into different categories including display and contents. First, AR display category includes personal computers, mobile, public display, and projection display. AR contents category includes informative content, game contents, virtual experience, and visual effect. While investigating, it was found that the most used type of AR display was mobile, which has the advantage of not being limited by time and place and is also capable of one-on-one marketing with customers. The most used type of AR content was visual effect type, which evokes curiosity and is easily shared among people.

  • In this paper, we proposed a software framework structure to apply ORB-SLAM, the most representative of SLAM algorithms, so that map creation and location estimation technology can be applied through tethered AR glasses. Since tethered AR glasses perform only the role of an input/output device, the processing of camera and sensor data and the generation of images to be displayed through the optical display module must be performed through the host. At this time, an Android-based mobile device is adopted as the host. Therefore, the major libraries required for the implementation of AR contents for AR glasses were hierarchically organized, and spatial recognition and location estimation functions using SLAM were verified.

  • As AR display virtual technology enters public learning life extensively, the way in which reality and virtual connection are connected is also changing. The purpose of this paper is to study the expression between the 3D connection sensory information visualization experience and virtual reality enhancement through the visual direction sensory information visualization experience of the plane. It is analyzed by examining the basic setting method compared to the current application of AR display and flat visualization cases. The scope of this paper is to enable users to have a better experience through the relationship with sensory visualization, centering on eye tracking technology in the four categories of AR display connection design: gesture connection, eye tracking, voice connection, and sensor. Focusing on eye tracking technology through AR display interaction and current application and comparative analysis of flat visualization cases, the geometric consistency of visual figures, light and color consistency, combination of multi-sensory interaction methods, rational content display, and smart push presented sensory visualization in virtual reality more realistically and conveniently, providing a simple and convenient sensory visualization experience to the audience.

Fabrication of anti-reflection thin film by using sol-gel hybrid solution (Sol-gel 하이브리드 용액을 이용한 반사방지막 제조)

  • Anti-reflection (AR) thin films were fabricated on a glass substrate by using an ultrasonic spray. Glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) and tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) were used to synthesize a sol-gel hybrid coating solution. The moving speed of spray nozzle was changed from 15~25 mm/s to control the coating thickness of AR thin film. As the moving speed of spray nozzle increased, the thickness of AR thin film decreased from 138 nm to 86 nm. When the AR thin film was fabricated by nozzle moving speed of 20 mm/s, the refractive index and thickness of AR thin film was measured to be 1.31 and 104 nm, respectively. The average reflectance and transmittance of AR thin film coating glass was measured to be 0.75 % and 94 %, respectively into the visible light range of 380~780 nm.

  • In Color AC Plasma Display Panel(PDP). Low luminous efficiency is a major problem. We measured luminous efficiency of PDP as a function of the Ar mixing ratio. Our results show that efficiency has improved by $5{\sim}10%$ at the condition of 0.5% Ar mixing ratio, compared with Ne-Xe(4%) or He-Ne-Xe(4%) (He:Ne = 7:3) gas.

  • Augmented reality (AR) using a head mounted display (HMD) is used in various fields such as military, medicine, manufacturing, gaming, and education. In this paper, we discuss the design and fabrication of the AR optical system, which is most essential for HMD. The AR optical system for HMD requires a wide transparent area in which the augmented image of the display and the real world can be viewed at the same time. To this end, an AR optical system was designed and manufactured by dividing it into three parts according to each characteristic. Also, the refractive index of the ultra-violet (UV) adhesive layer required to make the three optical systems into one complete AR optical system was considered from the design stage to minimize the optical path shift phenomenon when the input light source passes through the UV adhesive layer. In addition, when designing the AR optical system, two aspheric surfaces were used to compensate for off-axis aberration and to be suitable for mass production. Finally, for HMD mass production, an aspheric AR optical system with a thickness of 11 mm, a diagonal field of view of 40°, and a weight of 11.3 g was designed and manufactured.

  • 다수의 미디어와 기술 시장 보고서가 2016년을 가상현실(Virtual Reality: VR) 기술이 대중화되는 원년으로 전망하고 있다. 착용형 디스플레이는 컴퓨터로 시뮬레이션되는 가상의 콘텐츠 세계와 현실의 사용자를 연결하는 대표적인 VR 인터페이스 장치이다. 일정 수준 이상의 사용성을 제시하는 데에 필요한 기술의 진입 장벽이 낮아지면서 다양한 소비자 제품들의 시장 출시가 진행 중이고, 주요 업체들은 킬러 콘텐츠 발굴과 함께 새로운 산업 생태계 구축에 역량을 집중하고 있다. 선도적인 연구그룹들은 차세대 가상/증강현실(VR/AR) 인터페이스의 구현 목표를 가볍고 휴대성이 우수한 안경형 디스플레이에 두고 있으며, 모니터 및 키보드와 마우스를 벗어난 다양한 입출력 기술을 개발하고 있다. 본고에서는 VR 시장의 중심이 되고있는 완전몰입형 디스플레이(Head Mounted Display: HMD) 현황을 정리하고, 향후 AR 시장으로의 확대에 기반이되는 안경형 디스플레이(Eye Glasses-type Display: EGD) 기술의 연구개발 동향을 정리한다.

In-Vehicle AR-HUD System to Provide Driving-Safety Information

  • Augmented reality (AR) is currently being applied actively to commercial products, and various types of intelligent AR systems combining both the Global Positioning System and computer-vision technologies are being developed and commercialized. This paper suggests an in-vehicle head-up display (HUD) system that is combined with AR technology. The proposed system recognizes driving-safety information and offers it to the driver. Unlike existing HUD systems, the system displays information registered to the driver's view and is developed for the robust recognition of obstacles under bad weather conditions. The system is composed of four modules: a ground obstacle detection module, an object decision module, an object recognition module, and a display module. The recognition ratio of the driving-safety information obtained by the proposed AR-HUD system is about 73%, and the system has a recognition speed of about 15 fps for both vehicles and pedestrians.

  • We propose a three-dimensional (3D) streaming system based on a lamina display that can convey field information in real-time by creating floating 3D images that can satisfy the accommodation cue. The proposed system is mainly composed of three parts, namely: a 3D vision camera unit to obtain and provide RGB and depth data in real-time, a 3D image engine unit to realize the 3D volume with a fast response time by using the RGB and depth data, and an optical floating unit to bring the implemented 3D image out of the system and consequently increase the sense of presence. Furthermore, we devise the streaming method required for implementing augmented reality (AR) images by using a multilayered image, and the proposed method for implementing AR 3D video in real-time non-face-to-face communication has been experimentally verified.

  • The optimal mixing condition of four components gas(Ne,Xe,He,Ar) in PDPs was caculated by a numerical simulation method. The dominated reactions in which $Xe^*(^3P_1)$ is produced and decays were investigated in three components gas (Ne,Xe,He) and our new components gas (Ne,Xe,He,Ar). A peak point of $Xe^*$ density appears in the range of 0.1% to 2% of Ar mixture ratio. The results of simulation show that the direct exitation of Xe by electrons has the greatest influence on the inceasing $Xe^*$ density in both gas mixtures.
