  • Due to the advance of ICT, a variety of attacks have been developing and active. Recently, APT attacks using malicious codes have frequently occurred. Advanced Persistent Threat means that a hacker makes different security threats to attack a certain network of a company or an organization. Exploiting malicious codes or weaknesses, the hacker occupies an insider's PC of the company or the organization and accesses a server or a database through the PC to collect secrets or to destroy them. The paper suggested a countermeasure to cope with APT attacks through an APT attack process. It sought a countermeasure to delay the time to attack taken by the hacker and suggested the countermeasure able to detect and remove APT attacks.

  • Advanced persistent threats (APTs) are constant attacks of specific targets by hackers using intelligent methods. All current internal infrastructures are constantly subject to APT attacks created by external and unknown malware. Therefore, information security officers require a framework that can assess whether information security systems are capable of detecting and blocking APT attacks. Furthermore, an on-line evaluation of information security systems is required to cope with various malicious code attacks. A regular evaluation of the information security system is thus essential. In this paper, we propose a dynamic updated evaluation framework to improve the detection rate of internal information systems for malware that is unknown to most (over 60 %) existing static information security system evaluation methodologies using non-updated unknown malware.

  • Recent high profile attacks have brought the attention of governments, corporations, and the general public towards the dangers posed by Advanced Persistent Threats. This paper provides an analysis of the attack vectors employed by these actors by studying several recent attacks. We present recommendations on how to best defend against these threats by better classification of critical information infrastructure and assets, people protection, penetration tests, access control, security monitoring, and patch management.

  • Recent changes in the information security environment have led to persistent attacks on intelligent assets such as cyber security breaches, leakage of confidential information, and global security threats. Since existing information security systems are not adequate for Advanced Persistent Threat; APT attacks, bypassing attacks, and attacks on encryption packets, therefore, continuous monitoring is required to detect and protect against such attacks. Accordingly, this paper suggests an operation plan for managing an information security system to block the attack routes of advanced persistent threats. This is achieved with identifying the valuable assets for prevention control by establishing information control policies through analyzing the vulnerability and risks to remove potential hazard, as well as constructing detection control through controlling access to servers and conducting surveillance on encrypted communication, and enabling intelligent violation of response by having corrective control through packet tagging, platform security, system backups, and recovery.

  • The APT attacks are hackers created a variety of security threats will continue to attack applied to the network of a particular company or organization. It referred to as intelligent sustained attack. After securing your PC after a particular organization's internal staff access to internal server or database through the PC or remove and destroy the confidential information. The APT attack is so large, there are two zero-day attacks and rootkits. APT is a process of penetration attack, search, acquisition, and is divided into outlet Step 4. It was defined in two ways how you can respond to APT through the process. Technical descriptions were divided into ways to delay the attacker's malicious code attacks time and plan for attacks to be detected and removed through.

  • The need for cyber resilience is increasingly important in our technology-dependent society where computing devices and data have been, and will continue to be, the target of cyber-attackers, particularly advanced persistent threat (APT) and nation-state/sponsored actors. APT and nation-state/sponsored actors tend to be more sophisticated, having access to significantly more resources and time to facilitate their attacks, which in most cases are not financially driven (unlike typical cyber-criminals). For example, such threat actors often utilize a broad range of attack vectors, cyber and/or physical, and constantly evolve their attack tactics. Thus, having up-to-date and detailed information of APT's tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) facilitates the design of effective defense strategies as the focus of this paper. Specifically, we posit the importance of taxonomies in categorizing cyber-attacks. Note, however, that existing information about APT attack campaigns is fragmented across practitioner, government (including intelligence/classified), and academic publications, and existing taxonomies generally have a narrow scope (e.g., to a limited number of APT campaigns). Therefore, in this paper, we leverage the Cyber Kill Chain (CKC) model to "decompose" any complex attack and identify the relevant characteristics of such attacks. We then comprehensively analyze more than 40 APT campaigns disclosed before 2018 to build our taxonomy. Such taxonomy can facilitate incident response and cyber threat hunting by aiding in understanding of the potential attacks to organizations as well as which attacks may surface. In addition, the taxonomy can allow national security and intelligence agencies and businesses to share their analysis of ongoing, sensitive APT campaigns without the need to disclose detailed information about the campaigns. It can also notify future security policies and mitigation strategy formulation.

  • Small and medium-sized companies lack countermeasures to secure the safety of a information system. In this circumstance, they have difficulties regarding the damage to their images and legal losses, when the information is leaked. This paper examines the information leakage of the system and hacking methods including APT attacks. Especially, APT attack, Advanced Persistent Threats, means that a hacker sneaks into a target and has a latency period of time and skims all the information related to the target, and acts in the backstage and neutralize the security services without leaving traces. Because he attacks the target covering up his traces not to reveal them, the victim remains unnoticed, which increases the damage. This study examines attack methods and the process of them and seeks a countermeasure.

  • Despite the increasing hacking threats and security threats as IT technology advances and many companies adopt security solutions, cyberattacks and threats still persist for years. APT attack is a technique of selecting a specific target and continuing to attack. The threat of an APT attack uses all possible means through the electronic network to perform APT for years. Zero-day attacks, malicious code distribution, and social engineering techniques are performed, and some of them directly invade companies. These techniques have been in effect since 2000, and are similarly used in voice phishing, especially for social engineering techniques. Therefore, it is necessary to study countermeasures against APT attacks. This study analyzes the attack cases of Korean-based APT groups in Korea and suggests the correct method of using intelligence to analyze APT attack groups.

  • Recently the paradigm of cyber attacks is changing due to the information security technology improvement. The cyber attack that uses the social engineering and targets the end users has been increasing as the organization's systems and networks security controls have been tightened. The 91% of APT(Advanced Persistent Threat) which targets an enterprise or a government agency to get the important data and disable the critical service starts with the spear phishing email. In this paper, we analysed the security threats and characteristics of the spear phishing in detail and explained why the technical solutions are not enough to prevent spear phishing attacks. Therefore, we proposed the administrative prevention methods for the spear phishing attack.

  • The recent trend of cyber attack threat is mainly APT (Advanced Persistent Threat) attack. This attack is a combination of hacking techniques to try to steal important information assets of a corporation or individual, and social engineering hacking techniques aimed at human psychological factors. Spear phishing attacks, one of the most commonly used APT hacking techniques, are known to be easy to use and powerful hacking techniques, with more than 90% of the attacks being a key component of APT hacking attacks. The existing research for cyber security threat defense is mainly focused on the technical and policy aspects. However, in order to preemptively respond to intelligent hacking attacks, it is necessary to study different aspects from the viewpoint of social engineering. In this study, we analyze the correlation between human personality type (DISC) and cyber security threats, focusing on spear phishing attacks, and present countermeasures against security threats from a new perspective breaking existing frameworks.
