  • The purpose of this study was to find the distribution and measurement of compressive and tensile stress when intrusi- on arch wire is forced engage with upper canine and to analysis stress at each section through FEM. And we compare compressive and tensile ratio at each section. The results were as follows. 1. At FA point and cemento-enamel junction of upper canine, compressive and tensile force ratio is about the same. 2. At apex, compressive force is the four times as tensile force. ; In intrusion, we show root resorption at apex. 3. At Cemento-enamel junction, the compressive and tensile force show the maximun value except FA Point.

Responses of different phytoelements to habitat light level and their dynamic convergence towards crown development of Aucuba japonica Thunb. var. japonica

  • We analyzed crown development in Aucuba japonica Thunb. var. japonica resulting from the responses of phytoelements to habitat light conditions over a long period of time. Over the years, the degree of extension unit (EU) dimorphism and the degree of anisophylly were higher under shaded conditions than in brighter conditions. An overall temporally increasing pattern in the degree of EU dimorphism was found while no clear-cut trend was found in the case of anisophylly. EU length and number of leaves per EU co-varied in a spatio-temporal context. The number of terminal buds and their sizes acted as the key initiators of morphological differences of phytoelements which were further amplified following bud break. Leaf area density was displayed mostly in the apex peripheral layer of the crown and the apex layer received most of the incident light. There was a tradeoff between annual leaf production and mean leaf size. Depending on the heterogeneity of irradiance level within a crown, correlative growth inhibition caused higher EU mortality at brighter sites. Due to high mortality, shorter EUs had a mere role in the construction of structural framework of the crown except for the formation of some gaps. There was a strong convergence of EU dimorphism, anisophylly, EU extension growth and variations in leaf size towards formation of functional crown to reduce potential self-shading. Depending on the irradiance level, Aucuba japonica Thunb. var. japonica showed two different modes of crown expansion. At the brighter sites, individual crown expansion was progressive while at the darker sites, individual crown expanded in a diminishing manner and maintained a stable size. A plant's "growth diminishing phase" appeared earlier at shaded sites than brighter sites.

Radial Velocities of Galactic Planetary Nebulae (행성상성운의 분포와 시선속도 연구)

  • The distribution and kinematic information of the planetary nebula (PN) may provide a hint about the Galactic dynamics and evolutionary history. An analysis of the Galactic planetary nebular distribution and kinematics (distance, direction, velocity) is underwent, using the 502 PNs observational data given in the ‘THE STRASBOURG-ESO CATALOGUE OF GALACTIC PLANETARY NEBULAE.’ The representative average radial velocities, $(V_r)s$ is derived in six different directions of galactic latitudes, $l = 0^{\circ},\;90{\circ},\;180{\circ},\;270{\circ},$ plus apex and antapex $(56{\circ},\;236{\circ})$, respectively. The PNe near the apex approaches to the Sun with radial velocities, which values are $(V_r) = 69.0 km/s;$ whereas, those near the antapex recedes with $(V_r) = 64.1 km/s$, respectively. No particular trends are found along the z direction, although more PNs are found below the Galactic plane. This implies that the 3rd generation objects, PNs, move slowly on the galactic plane compared to the 4th generation stars like the Sun, indicative of possible interaction.

  • The concept and measuring activities of the height of figures are essential to find the areas or volumes of the corresponding figures. For plane figures, the height of a triangle is defined to be the line segment from a vertex that is perpendicular to the opposite side of the triangle, whereas the height of a parallelogram(trapezoid) is defined to be the distance between two parallel sides. For the solid figures, the height of a prism is defined to be the distance of two parallel bases, whereas the height of a pyramid is defined to be the perpendicular distance from the apex to the base. In addition, the height of a cone is defined to be the length of the line segment from the apex that is perpendicular to the base and the height of a cylinder is defined to be the length of the line segment that is perpendicular to two parallel bases. In this study, we discuss some pedagogical problems on the concepts and measuring activities of the height of figures to provide alternative activities and suggest their educational implications from a teaching and learning point of view.

Image Compression System Implementation Based on DWT (DWT 기반 영상압축 시스템 구현)

  • In this paper, a system which can compress and reconstruct the digital image was implemented using 2 dimensional DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform). The proposed system consists of the FPGA board tocompress the image and the application software(S/W) to reconstruct it. First the FPGA receives the image from AID converter and compresses the image using wavelet transform. The compressed data is transferred into the PC using the PCI interface. The compressed image is reconstructed by an application S/W inside the PC. The image compressor can compress about 60 fields per second, in which the image format was NTSC YCbCr(4:2:2) and the image size was 640${\times}$240 pixels per field. The designed hardware mapped into one FPGA occupying 11,120 LAB (Logic Array Block) and 27,456 ESB(Embedded System Block) in APEX20KC EP20K1000B652-7. It globally uses 33MHz clock and the memory control part uses 100MHz.

  • Recently, cybercrime has become increasingly difficult to track by applying new technologies such as virtualization technology and distribution tracking avoidance. etc. Therefore, there is a limit to the technology of tracking distributors based on malicious code information through static and dynamic analysis methods. In addition, in the field of cyber investigation, it is more important to track down malicious code distributors than to analyze malicious codes themselves. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose a next-generation malicious code information collection architecture to efficiently track down malicious code distributors by converging traditional analysis methods and recent information collection methods such as OSINT and Intelligence. The architecture we propose in this paper is based on the differences between the existing malicious code analysis system and the investigation point's analysis system, which relates the necessary elemental technologies from the perspective of cybercrime. Thus, the proposed architecture could be a key approach to tracking distributors in cyber criminal investigations.

  • From the necrotic stem of aquaculture Dracaena for living room decoration, we observed conidia on acervuli with occasional setae and perithecia in vivo. Morphological characters were; acervuli, dark brown and 300-500 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in diameter; conidia, hyaline, aseptate, cylindrical to slightly ellipsoid with rounded apex and narrow truncate base on phialidic conidiophores, 12.5-17.5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$; setae, variable in length 1-4 septate, slightly swollen at the base and tapered to the apex, 200 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$; appressoria, dark brown ovate to obovate irregular 5-12.5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, perithecia on decayed stem, globose, dark brown and black 85-300 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$; asci 8 spored, clavate to cylindrical; 50-62.5$\times$8-10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$; ascospores, oval to fusiform, sometimes slightly curved, aseptate, hyaline. Above characteristics were also confirmed in vitro. Colletotrichum state of this fungus was also compared with C. lindemuthianum and C. musae in terms of morphology of conidia and setae and growth on PDA etc. This fungus was identified as Glomerella cingulata(Stonem.) Spaulding & Schrenk(Colletotrichum gloeosporioides(Penz. Sacc.).

A Simple Method for the Assessment of Fusarium Head Blight Resistance in Korean Wheat Seedlings Inoculated with Fusarium graminearum

  • Fusarium head blight (FHB; scab) caused mainly by Fusarium graminearum is a devastating disease of wheat and barley around the world. FHB causes yield reductions and contamination of grain with trichothecene mycotoxins such as deoxynivalenol (DON) which are a major health concern for humans and animals. The objective of this research was to develop an easy seed or seedling inoculation assay, and to compare these assays with whole plant resistance of twenty-nine Korean winter wheat cultivars to FHB. The clip-dipping assay consists of cutting off the coleoptiles apex, dipping the coleoptiles apex in conidial suspension, covering in plastic bag for 3 days, and measuring the lengths of lesions 7 days after inoculation. There were significant cultivar differences after inoculation with F. graminearum in seedling relative to the controls. Correlation coefficients between the lesion lengths of clip-dipping inoculation and FHB Type II resistance from adult plants were significant (r=0.45; P<0.05). Results from two other seedling inoculation methods, spraying and pin-point inoculation, were not correlated with adult FHB resistance. Single linear correlation was not significant between seed germination assays (soaking and soak-dry) and FHB resistance (Type I and Type II), respectively. These results showed that clip-dipping inoculation method using F. graminearum may offer a real possibility of simple, rapid, and reliable for the early screening of FHB resistance in wheat.

Implementation of Channel Coding System using Viterbi Decoder of Pipeline-based Multi-Window (파이프라인 기반 다중윈도방식의 비터비 디코더를 이용한 채널 코딩 시스템의 구현)

  • In the paper, after we propose a viterbi decoder which has multiple buffering and parallel processing decoding scheme through expanding time-divided imput signal, and map a FPGA, we implement a channel coding system together with PC-based software. Continuous input signal is buffered as order of decoding length and is parallel decoded using a high speed cell for viterbi decoding. Output data rate increases linearly with the cell formed the viterbi decoder, and flexible operation can be satisfied by programming controller and modifying input buffer. The tell for viterbi decoder consists of HD block for calculating hamming distance, CM block for calculating value in each state, TB block for trace-back operation, and LIFO. The implemented cell of viterbi decoder used 351 LAB(Logic Arrary Block) and stably operated in maximum 139MHz in APEX20KC EP20K600CB652-7 FPGA of ALTERA. The whole viterbi decoder including viterbi decoding cells, input/output buffers, and a controller occupied the hardware resource of $23\%$ and has the output data rate of 1Gbps.

Performance Analysis of Access Channel Decoder Implemeted for CDMA2000 1X Smart Antenna Base Station (CDMA2000 1X 스마트 안테나 기지국용으로 구현된 액세스 채널 복조기의 성능 분석)

  • This paper presents an implementation and performance analysis of an access channel decoder which exploits a diversity gain due to the independent magnitude of received signals energy at each of antenna elements of a smart antenna BTS (Base-station Transceiver Subsystem) operating in CDMA2000 1X signal environment. Proposed access channel decoder consists of a searcher supporting 4 fingers, Walsh demodulator, and demodulator controller. They have been implemented with 5 of 1 million-gate FPGA's (Field Programmable Gate Array) Altera's APEX EP20K1000EBC652 and TMS320C6203 DSP (digital signal processing). The objective of the proposed access channel decoders is to enhance the data retrieval at co]1-site during the access period, for which the optimal weight vector of the smart antenna BTS is not available. Through experimental tests, we confirmed that the proposed access channel decoder exploitng the diversity technique outperforms the conventional one, which is based on a single antenna channel, in terms of detection probability of access probe, access channel failure probability, and $E_{b/}$ $N_{o}$ in Walsh demodulator.r.r.
