The present study is intended to comparatively investigate the changes in microstructure and tensile properties at room and elevated temperatures in commercial AM50(Mg-5%Al-0.3%Mn) and 0.3 wt%CaO added ECO-AM50 alloys produced by permanent mould casting. The typical microstructure of AM50 alloy was distinctively characterized using two intermetallic compounds, ${\beta}(Mg_{17}Al_{12})$ and $Al_8Mn_5$, along with ${\alpha}$-(Mg) matrix in an as-cast state. The addition of a small amount of CaO played a role in reducing dendrite cell size and quantity of the ${\beta}$ phase in the AM50 alloy. It is interesting to note that the added CaO introduced a small amount of $Al_2Ca$ adjacent to the ${\beta}$ compounds, and that inhomogeneous enrichment of elemental Ca was observed within the ${\beta}$ phase. The ECO-AM50 alloy showed higher hardness and better YS and UTS at room temperature than did the AM50 alloy, which characteristics can be mainly ascribed to the finer-grained microstructure that originated from the CaO addition. At $175^{\circ}C$, higher levels of YS and UTS and higher elongation were obtained for the ECO-AM50 alloy, demonstrating that even 0.3 wt%CaO addition can be beneficial in promoting the heat resistance of the AM50 alloy. The combinational contributions of enhanced thermal stability of the Ca-containing ${\beta}$ phase and the introduction of a stable $Al_2Ca$ phase with high melting point are thought to be responsible for the improvement of the high temperature tensile properties in the ECO-AM50 alloy.

Pathogenic infection in tasar silkworm, Antheraea mylitta Drury is common and there is a breed specific response regarding tolerance. Hence, the tolerance level of three eco-races of tasar silkworm viz. Daba, Sarihan and Raily to Antheraea mylitta cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus (AmCPV) infection was tested. The survival of Daba, Sarihan and Raily eco-races was significantly different (p<0.05) when challenged with the same concentration ($1{\times}10^5$ polyhedra/ml) of AmCPV. Daba eco-race was more tolerant to the AmCPV infection having higher survival (65.7%) and $LC_{50}$ values (1000893.17 polyhedra/ml) of AmCPV followed by Sarihan eco-race (50.7% survival and $LC_{50}$ value of AmCPV 187203.6168 polyhedra/ml) and Raily eco-race (24.3% survival and $LC_{50}$ value of AmCPV 5176.37 polyhedra/ml). The tolerance level of Daba and Sarihan eco-races against AmCPV was more than two times than Raily eco-race.

Experiments were performed on male Sprague-Dawley rats to investigate the immunobiological effects on route of administration of amygdalin(AM). Rats were administered orally at 12.5, 25, or 50mg/kg/day of AM or injected wtih 25,50, or 100mg/kg/day of AM intravenously for 2 weeks. Rats were immunized and challenged with sheep red blood cells(SRBC). The results of this study were summarized as follows;(1) In oral administration of AM, body weight gains were significantly increased by 50mg/kg AM as compared with controls, the relative weights of liver and thymus also were significantly increased by 12.5 and 25mg/kg AM. However, 2-mercaptoethanol-resistant hemagglutination titier (2-MER HA), Plaque forming cells (PFC) and rosette forming cells (RFC) were non-dose dependently decreased. Phagocytic activity and delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) reaction also were significantly decreased by 50mg/kg AM. (2) In intravenous injection of AM, body weight gains, hemagglutination titer (HA), 2MER-HA, DTH reaction, PFC, RFC and circulating leukocytes were not influenced by AM. However, the relative weights of liver, spleen and thymus were significantly enhanced 100mg/kg AM. These results indicated that oral administration of AM non-dose dependently suppresses humoral and cell-mediated immunity in SD rats, and that intravenous injection of AM is unaffected humoral and cell-mediated immunity, however, the high dose of it significantly enhances phagocytic activity.
We have studied initial oxidation of the alkali metal(AM)/Si(111) surface using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and reflection high energy electron diffraction(RHEED) at room temperature(RT) and high temperature(HT)(300~50$0^{\circ}C$). The oxidation of the Si(111)7$\times$7 surface was promoted by the adsorption of 1 momolayer(ML) AM, whereas no promotion occurred for submonolayer(<0.5 ML) adsorbed Si(111)7$\times$7 surface at RT. O Is core level spectra were measured with increasing oxygen exposure. It was found that the oxygen adsorbed on the Si(111)7$\times$7-AM surface have two different bond configuration, Si-O and Am-O, respectively. From these results, we discussed the role of AM-O bonding in the promoted oxidation. At HT(300~50$0^{\circ}C$), the AM-adsorbed surface became very inactive with the structural transformation to the 3$\times$1-AM. We present the results of the oxidation of the Si(111)3$\times$1-AM(Na, K, Cs) surface.
In order to develop the vacuum distillation process of magnesium alloy scrap, a fundamental study on the evaporation behavior of magnesium alloy (AM50) scrap melt was carried out. Melt temperature, pressure, reaction time, and initial specific surface area of melt were considered as experimental variables. The evaporation rate of magnesium increased with the increase of melt temperature and initial specific surface area of melt, and with the decrease of the pressure. The activation energy of magnesium evaporation reaction calculated by an Arrhenius plot decreased with the decrease of the pressure and with the increase of the initial specific surface area of melt. An empirical equation was derived for the evaporation rate of magnesium from AM50 alloy melt.

The purpose of this study was to research for anti-oxidation and anti-wrinkle effects of Acar mono Sap (AM). To cosmetic effect of AM, safety effect (MTT assay), anti-wrinkle effect (elastase, MMP-1 inhibition assay) and anti-oxidant effect (DPPH assay) were measured. When water extract of AM was used for cell viability, it was over 100% at 6% (6 ml/100 ml in phosphate buffer) concentration. AM showed 45.7% elastase inhibition and 23.7% MMP-1 inhibition at 50% (50 ml/100 ml in phosphate buffer) concentration so that it had good anti-wrinkle characteristic. And AM showed 68.9% antioxidation capacity at 50% concentration by using a DPPH assay. Consequently, AM can be used as natural materials or additives for human skin owing to their beneficial biologic functions, including the anti-wrinkle effect, for cosmetic compositions.
The effect of arbuscular mycorrhizae(AM) on the growth of trifoliate orange seeding were investigated in volcanic ash soil. Trifoliate orange is used as a root stock of citrus in Cheju island. Seedings innoculated with AM fungi were grown for 16 weeks in pots of various levels of fertilizer. Growth characteristics and mineral nutrient contents were measured and spores of AM fungi colonized were identified. Seventy % of the replicsted pots of seedings were colonized by AM in the treatment of high level fertilizer and additional phosphate (40g of 21-17-17 complex fertilizer and 50g of fused phosphate added to 50L of soil). In treatments of low levels fertilizer or without fused phosphate addition, the pots colonized were less than 20 %. Colonization of trifoliate seedings with AM fungi greatly increased the growth of seedings. Shoot length and weight of shoot and root positively regressed on AM colonization ratio. AM colonization caused higher concentrations of P, Cu and Mg in plant, and the relations were significant at 5 % level. Contents of N and Zn in plants also tended to increase, while that of Ca to decrease, with increasing colonization ratio. Four species of AM fungi - Glomus deserticola, G. rubiforme, G. vesiculiferum and Acaulospora sp, - were found in the soil where roots of trifoliate orange as an innoculation materials were collected. All of the 4 species were found in the inoculated pot soils after the seedling growth, indicating that these species can be colonized in trifoliate orange roots.
3D printing AM processes have advantages in complex shapes, customized fabrication and prototype development stage. However, due to various parameters based on both the machine and the material, the AM process can produce finished output after several trials and errors in the initial stage. As such, minimizing or optimizing negative factors for various parameters of the 3D printing AM process could be a solution to reduce the trial-and-error failures in the early stages of such an AM process. In addition, this can be largely solved through software simulation in the preprocessing process of 3D printing AM process. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate a simulation technology for the AM software, especially Ansys Inc. The metal 3D printing AM process, the AM process simulation software, and the AM process simulation processor were examined. Through this study, it will be helpful to understand 3D printing AM process and AM process simulation processor.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of feeding acidified milk on the growth and fecal microbial diversity of dairy calves. Methods: Twenty healthy 3-day-old female Holstein calves with similar body weights were selected and randomly divided into two groups. One group was fed pasteurized milk (PM, Control), while the other was fed acidified milk (AM) ad libitum until weaned (day 60). The experiment lasted until day 180. Results: There was no difference in the nutritional components between PM and AM. The numbers of Escherichia coli and total bacteria in AM were lower than in PM. At 31 to 40 and 41 to 50 days of age, the milk intake of calves fed AM was higher than that of calves fed PM (p<0.05), and the solid feed intake of calves fed AM was higher than that of calves fed PM at 61 to 90 days (p<0.05). The average daily gain of calves fed AM was also higher than that of calves fed PM at 31 to 60, 61 to 180, and 7 to 180 days (p<0.05). The calves fed AM tended to have a lower diarrhea rate than those fed PM (p = 0.059). Bacteroides had the highest abundance in the feces of calves fed AM on day 50, while Ruminococcaceae_UCG_005 had the highest abundance in the feces of calves fed AM on day 90 and calves fed PM on days 50 and 90. At the taxonomic level, the linear discriminant analysis scores of 27 microorganisms in the feces of calves fed AM and PM on days 50 and 90 were higher than 4.0. Conclusion: Feeding AM increased calf average daily gain and affected fecal bacterial diversity.
Foamed metal has become an attractive material, which has unique physical, thermal, acoustic, damping and mechanical properties, because large amount of pores are distributed in the metal matrix. Therefore, metal foam can be used for the light weight application in automotive, locomotive, aerospace fields. Aluminum foams have been developed successfully and will be employed in the next generation of energy absorption boxes. Magnesium alloys are most eligible candidate to substitute aluminum alloy, especially for lower density and higher damping properties in wide industrial fields. Magnesium alloy foams are expected to be particularly advantageous due to two thirds the density of aluminum. However, foaming magnesium have been weakness of high activity, difficult processing and very dangerous. In order to upgrade this problem, AM50 magnesium alloy which has better characteristic is safe to use through foaming time and alloying element in this study.
