Mutual Separation of Am and Eu by Solvent Extraction with di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid Containing Zirconium(III) (Zr을 함유한 di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid에 의한 Am과 Eu의 상호분리(III))

  • This study was carried out to elucidate the chemical characteristics of mutual separation for Am and Eu, which were selected as a stand-in from minor actinide and rare earth elements, by solvent extraction with di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid containing zirconium at batch system. As results, 92.3% of Am and 99.1% of Eu were coextracted with 1M DEHPA/n-dodecane containing zirconium (Zr $concentration=8.7g/{\ell}$) at 0.5M $HNO_3$ in the extraction step. The extraction yields of Am and Eu were proportionally increased with the concentration of Zr in Zr salt of 1M DEHPA/n-dodecane having the synergistic effect. In the lst stripping step for the selective separation of Am, 38.1% of Am and 3% of Eu were stripped with the mixed solution of 0.05M DTPA and 1M lactic acid adjusted pH of 3.0. At that time, the separation factor calculated from the distribution coefficients of Am and Eu was 14.2. In the 2nd Stipping step to remove the Eu remained the organic phase after the lst stripping step, 94.4% 0f Eu was stripped into aqueous phase with 6M $HNO_3$.

Mycorrhizae Effects on N Uptake and Assimilation Estimated by 15N Tracing in White Clover under Water-Stressed Conditions (15N 추적에 의한 화이트 클로버에서 마이코라이자 접종이 수분 스트레스 조건하에서 질소 흡수 및 동화의 평가)

  • To investigate the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) symbiosis on N uptake and its assimilation under drought-stressed conditions in white clover, total $^{15}N$ amount and $^{15}N$ amount incorporated into $NO_3^-$, amino acids and soluble proteins were quantified by $^{15}N$ tracing during 7 days of water treatment. Under well-watered conditions, there were no significant effects of AM symbiosis on all parameters analyzed in this study. Drought stress decreased total $^{15}N$ amount both in AM and non-AM plants, with a lower rate in AM plants (-13.8%) relative to non-AM plants (-28.5%) at day 7. Drought significantly increased $^{15}N-NO_3^-$ amount in non-AM plants. The amount of $^{15}N$-amino acids was 1.26-fold and 1.33-fold higher, respectively, in leaves and roots of AM plants compared to those of non-AM ones. Drought decreased the amount of $^{15}N$-soluble proteins in leaves at day 7, with a higher rate in non-AM plants than in AM ones. These results clearly indicate that AM colonization effectively alleviating the decrease in N uptake, amino acids and proteins synthesis caused by drought stress.

Antioxidant Effect of Atractylodes macrocephala Koidzumi in DSS-induced Ulcerative Colitis Model (백출(白朮)의 항산화 효과가 DSS 유발 궤양성 대장염 모델에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : Although the pharmacological effects of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant action of Atractylodes macrocephala Koidzumi water extract (AM) have been proven from many studies, reports on the antioxidant effect of AM on ulcerative colitis (UC) are scarce. Therefore, we aimed at evaluating the anti-oxidant effect of AM on the DSS-induced UC model. Methods : To induce ulcerative colitis, 8-week-old male Balb/c mice received 5% DSS in drinking water for 1 week. After 1 week of adaptation, mice were divided into four groups (n=8 each) for use as normal (Normal), DSS Control (Control), DSS + AM 100 mg/kg (AM100)-treatment, DSS + AM 200 mg/kg (AM200)-treatment. After 1 week of the experiment, the animals were sacrificed, and the extracted colon tissue was analyzed for protein through western blot. Results : As a result of confirming the macroscopic changes in colon tissues to confirm the therapeutic effects of AM, the decrease in colon length was suppressed in the AM treatment group compared to the control group. In addition, as a result of biochemical analysis, AM administration significantly reduced serum glutamic oxalacetic transaminase, glutamic pyruvate transaminase levels and tissue malondialdehyde levels. As a result of confirming the protein expression level through western blot, AM administration significantly decreased the expression of NADPH-related proteins such as NOX2, p22phox, and iNOS, but significantly increased the expression of SOD, catalase, and GPx-1/2. Conclusions : AM may improve DSS-induced UC in mice by modulating NADPH and antioxidant-related proteins. In conclusion, AM showed an antioxidant effect through the improvement of oxidative stress on UC.

  • It is very important that we try to keep our traditional historical assets in the original form for a long time. Seoggur-Am has a very long and old history of about 1200 years. Yet, for the past several years there are many factors ruinning this historical treasure. Recently, specialist are new scientifically examining Seoggur-Am and evaluating its current condition, If you only judge these historical assets from the exterior structural environmental approach your scientific conclusion will not be complete. No one has studied Seoggur-Am from the viewpoint of indoor environmental climate. Therefore, I have surveyed and prepared a report of investigation as well as countermeasure so to understand the impact of indoor environmental climate on Seoggur-Am. The purpose of this paper is to first survey the existing research data based on exterior structural environment. Secondly, closely evaluate the new data of Seoggur-Am from the viewpoint of indoor environmental climate.

  • Ochrobactrum anthropi AM3 was isolated for the ability to utilize lignin as a sole carbon and energy source from compost in South Korea. Here we report the 5.11 Mb draft genome of strain AM3 with a G+C content of 56.2%, which is helpful for understanding the genetic diversity among Ochrobactrum spp. and the mechanism of lignin degradation.

  • Power amplifier linearity plays a major role in the design of RF communication systems. In this paper, predistortion type linearizer was designed an independently controllable AM/AM and AM/PM predistortion linearizers. This linearizer allows independent adjustment of the AM/AM and AM/PM curves by using two adjustable voltages to compensate the power amplifier non-linearities. The predistortion linearizer was improved the ACPR by 6dB with cdma2000 multi carrier signals. Applying this linearizer to two-tone 880MHz power amplifier, an improvement of adjacent channel leakage power up to 5dBm has been achieved.

  • The Korean folk medicine 'Am Cho' has been used as the folk remedy for diuretic, stomach and liver cancer. The botanical origin of the crude drug has not been studied pharmacognostically. To clarify the botanical origin of 'Am Cho', the comparative morphological and anatomical characteristics have been studied of Lepisorus species growing wild in Korea, i.e. L. annuifrons, L. onoei, L. thunbergianus, L. ussuriensis and 'Am Cho' form Korea. As a result, it was clarified that 'Am Cho' from Korea was derived from Lepisorus onoei.

  • Physicochemical properties of aspalatone (acetylsalicylic acid maltol ester, AM), which has been recently found to have an antithrombotic effect, were studied in terms of solubility, dissolution, partition coefficient (Pc) and stability. The solubility of AM at 37$^{\circ}C$ was about 1.2 mg/ml and the P$_{c}$ value for n-octanol/water and chloroform/water was 11.4 and 382.6, respectively. Dissolution rates of AM at pH 1.2 and 6.8 were more than 80% within 30 min. The degradation of AM followed apparent first-order kinetics, and was dependent on temperature, pH and ionic strength. From the pH-rate profile, the optimal pH was found to be at around 4.0. Half-lives at pH 1.2 and 6.8 were 33.5 and 44.4 hr, respectively. The degradation rate of AM at pH 1.2 was somewhat faster than that of aspirin, but at pH 7.0, the degradation rate of AM was slower than that of aspirin.n.

  • The Service area in AM Broadcast Changes according to its transmitting frequency. It is also reduced by increase of the citizen noise. As a result, the efficency of transmitting Antenna should be higer in a low noise region as long as AM Broadcast does not build up its transmitting power. The efficiency of transmitting Antenna can also function as a low resistance connection to earth. Most Vertical Antenna used in the AM standard Broadcast band in the Korea have extensive radial ground systems beneath them which serve as image plane.

  • Objectives & Methods : This study aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of the cervical lymph node in the application of large intestine tonification of Sa-Am acupuncture. Results & Conclusions : Cervical lymph node appeared in 76% of the cases for which large intestine tonifying Sa-am acupuncture was used in ${\ulcorner}$Sa-Am-Do-In-Chim-Gu-Yo-Kyul(舍岩道人鍼灸要訣)${\urcorner}$. We suggest that cervical lymph node can be used as an important diagnostic point for the application of large intestine tonification of Sa-Am acupuncture.
