인진청간탕으로 호전된 스테로이드 부작용을 동반한 자가면역성 간염-원발성 담즙성 간경변증 중복증후군 1례 (Effects of Herbal Medicine Injinchunggan-tang on Steroid-induced Symptoms in a Patient with Autoimmune Hepatitis-Primary Biliary Cirrhosis Overlap Syndrome: A Case Report)

  • Objectives: The medical records, including laboratory test results, of a patient with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH)-primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) overlap syndrome were reviewed to observe changes in steroid-induced adverse reactions before and after herbal medicine treatment.Methods: We investigated the records of a 44-year-old female patient with AIH-PBC overlap syndrome treated at the Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital. Injinchunggan-tang and its modified decoctions were administered, and any changes inclinical manifestations as well as laboratory test results were monitored.Results and Conclusions: Significant decreases in ALP, GGT, ALT, and AST levels were observed after oral administration of the herbal medicines. Improvements in steroid-induced symptoms (hyperglycemia, fatigue, and moon face) were also observed. Injinchunggan-tang and its modified prescriptions are promising candidates for proper management of AIH-PBC overlap syndrome.

인공수정에 의한 역류성 사정불임증환자의 임신 및 분만성공례 (A Successful Pregnancy and Delivery Case by AIH(Artificial Insemination Homologous) in Retrograde Ejaculation Patient)

  • Retrograde ejaculation, an infrequent cause of male infertility, may be the sequala of prostate or bladder neck surgery or the result of interruption in the sympathetic innervation, the diagnosis is established by history and examination of urine. Infertile couple artificial insemination homologous(AIH) using retrograde ejaculate recovered from bladder has been successfully acomplished. In this case, ovulation was induced by clomiphene citrate, osmorality and pH of urine was controlled by buffer solution and immediately specimen collection, to improve sperm mobility. We had experienced a successful pregnancy and delivery case by above method. So here reported with brief review of literature.

  • Artificial insemination with donor sperm(AID) or husband sperm(AIH) has been a major form of treatment for the infertile couples with severe male factors. The conception rate in oligoasthenoteratozoospermia is very low. Therefore the aim of this study was to examine those factors associated with improved success rate. The results are obtained as the follows; 1. The husband semenalysis(n=639) revealed normal findings in 32.2%. The abnormal findings included the oligospermia(18.5%), oligoasthenospermia(20.7%), oligoasthenotetatozoospermia(8.5%) and azoospermia(20.1 %). 2. The causes of abnormal semenalysis are idiopathic(most common), varicocele, congenital anomalies, vaso-vasostomy, etc.. 3. The semen washing to improve sperm motility and concentration was effective in case of over 20 ${\times}lO^6$/ml sperm count, but there was no significant improvement in case of be low 10-5${\times}lO^6$/ml sperm count. 4. The improvement of motility after cryopreservation depended on the initial sperm concentration. 5. The pregnancy rates following AIH are higher in normospermia than oligospermia.

Effects of fermentation on protein profile of coffee by-products and its relationship with internal protein structure measured by vibrational spectroscopy

  • Objective: To our knowledge, there are few studies on the correlation between internal structure of fermented products and nutrient delivery from by-products from coffee processing in the ruminant system. The objective of this project was to use advanced mid-infrared vibrational spectroscopic technique (ATR-FT/IR) to reveal interactive correlation between protein internal structure and ruminant-relevant protein and energy metabolic profiles of by-products from coffee processing affected by added-microorganism fermentation duration. Methods: The by-products from coffee processing were fermented using commercial fermentation product, called Saus Burger Pakan, consisting of various microorganisms: cellulolytic, lactic acid, amylolytic, proteolytic, and xylanolytic microbes, for 0, 7, 14, 21, and 28 days. Protein chemical profiles, Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System crude protein and CHO subfractions, and ruminal degradation and intestinal digestion of protein were evaluated. The attenuated total reflectance-Ft/IR (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy was used to study protein structural features of spectra that were affected by added microorganism fermentation duration. The molecular spectral analyses were carried using OMNIC software. Molecular spectral analysis parameters in fermented and non-fermented by-products from coffee processing included: Amide I area (AIA), Amide II (AIIA) area, Amide I heigh (AIH), Amide II height (AIIH), α-helix height (αH), β-sheet height (βH), AIA to AIIA ratio, AIH to AIIH ratio, and αH to βH ratio. The relationship between protein structure spectral profiles of by-products from coffee processing and protein related metabolic features in ruminant were also investigated. Results: Fermentation decreased rumen degradable protein and increased rumen undegradable protein of by-products from coffee processing (p<0.05), indicating more protein entering from rumen to the small intestine for animal use. The fermentation duration significantly impacted (p<0.05) protein structure spectral features. Fermentation tended to increase (p<0.10) AIA and AIH as well as β-sheet height which all are significantly related to the protein level. Conclusion: Protein structure spectral profiles of by-product form coffee processing could be utilized as potential evaluators to estimate protein related chemical profile and protein metabolic characteristics in ruminant system.

인삼에서 Putrescine 합성에 관련된 효소활성에 관한 연구 (Studies on Enzyme Activities Responsible for Biosynthesis of Putrescine in Ginseng(Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer))

  • Specific activities of ADC and ODC from 2-4 year old ones were higher than that from seedlings whereas those activities were not changed significantly from 2 to 4 years. Generally, activity of ADC was predorminant compared to that of ODC. Free arginine content in roots was much higher than that of leaves. And arginase specific activity from roots was higher than that of leaves. Cumulative results suggest that putrscine formation from ornithine in roots may be more effective than leaves and contribute to putrescine biosynthesis to some extract.

p-Mentha-8-ene-2-one계 향료합성 (Synthesis of Odorants p-Mentha-8-ene-2-one Derivatives by the Reaction of Dihydrocarvone with Formaldehyde)

  • The synthetic product of 1-hydroxymethyl-p-mentha-8-ene-2-one was afforded by the reaction between dihydrocarvone and formaldehyde. This reaction involves the aldol condensation. The preferential position of formaldehyde is methyl substituted .alpha.-carbon atom where these enols are regiospecifically formed. The hydroxymethylation of dihydrocarvone was also proved to happen regiospecifically in the position of .alpha.-methyl substituted ketone. When 1-hydroxymethyl-p-mentha-8-ene-2-one reacted with LiAIH$_{4}$, 1-hydroxymethyl-p-mentha-8-ene-2$\beta$-ol obtained. 1-Hydroxymethyl-p-mentha-8-ene-2-one reacted with PDC and chromic acid to give 1-formyl-p-mentha-8-ene-2-one and 1-carboxy-p-mentha-8-ene-2-one. When the hydroxymethyl group of 1-hydroxymethyl-p-menta-8-ene-2-one was reducted to methyl group, 1-methyl-p-menta-8-ene-2-one was obtained. Some of these new compound have certain odor. I, II have woody aroma and IV, V have camphory odors. IX has flowery minty odor.

골격성 II급 성인 부정교합자에서 혀와 두개안면골격 및 악간공간과의 상관관계에 관한 연구 (A study on correlations between tongue with skeletal pattern and intermaxillary space in Class II malocclusion adult patients)

  • 골격성 II급 부정교합자 중 성장이 완료되었다고 생각되는 만 18세 이상의 여자 37명, 만 20세 이상의 남자 23명을 선정하여 정상 성인의 안면비를 기준으로 hyperdivergent group(n=30)과 hypodivergent group(n=30)으로 나누어 두부방사선규격사진의 투사도를 작성하였으며 두개안면골격 및 혀의 크기, 높이 그리고 자세를 나타내는 항목을 계측하였고, 두 군간의 차에 대한 유의성 검정 및 혀와 두개안면골격 그리고 악간공간 사이의 상관관계를 조사하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 두 군의 혀와 악간공간의 계측항목 비교시 악간공간에 대한 혀의 면적비(TS/IS)는 hyperdivergent group에서 더 크게 나타났으며, PIH(posterior intermaxillary height)와 IS(intermaxillary space)는 hypodivergent group에서 더 크게 나타났으나 혀의 높이와 자세를 나타내는 항목에서는 두 군간에 유의할 만한 차이가 없었다. 2. 혀와 두개안면골격의 상관관계 비교시 두 군 모두에서 혀의 면적(TS), 길이(TGL) 그리고 높이(TH)를 나타내는 계측항목이 전안모고경 (AFH)과 가장 높은 상관관계를 나타냈으며, 또한 hypodivergent group에서는 후안모고경(PFH)과도 높은 상관성을 보였다(p<0.01). 3. 혀와 악간공간의 상관관계 비교시 두 군 모두 혀에 관한 대부분의 항목(H-P제외)이 악간공간(IS)과 가장 높은 상관성을 보였으며, 혀의 높이 (TGH)와 면적 (TS)을 나타내는 항목은 악간공간의 AIH 및 PIH와 높은 상관성을 보였다(p<0.01).

Long-Term Follow-Up Results of Anterior Cervical Inter-Body Fusion with Stand-Alone Cages

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to evaluate long-term follow-up radiologic/clinical outcomes of patients who underwent anterior cervical discectomy and inter-body fusion (ACDF) with stand-alone cages (SAC) in a single academic institution. Methods : Total 99 patients who underwent ACDF with SAC between February 2004 and December 2012 were evaluated retrospectively. A total of 131 segments were enrolled in this study. Basic demographic information, radiographic [segmental subsidence rate, fusion rate, C2-7 global angle, and segmental angle changes)/clinical outcomes (by Odom's criteria and visual analog score (VAS)] and complications were evaluated to determine the long-term outcomes. Results : The majority were males (55 vs. 44) with average age of 53.2. Mean follow-up period was 62.9 months. The segmental subsidence rate was 53.4% and fusion rate was 73.3%. In the subsidence group, anterior intervertebral height (AIH) had more tendency of subsiding than middle or posterior intervertebral height (p=0.01). The segmental angle led kyphotic change related to the subsidence of the AIH. Adjacent segmental disease was occurred in 18 (18.2%) patients. Total 6 (6%) reoperations were performed at the index level. There was no statistical significance between clinical and radiological outcomes. But, overall long-term clinical outcome by Odom's criteria was unsatisfactory (64.64%). The neck and arm VAS score were increased by over time. Conclusion : Long-term outcomes of ACDF with SAC group were acceptable but not satisfactory. For optimal decision making, more additional comparative long-term outcome data is needed between ACDF with SAC and ACDF with plating.

메밀의 다당류 추출과 구성당 분석 (Extraction and Component Sugar Analysis of Polysaccharides from Buckwheat)

  • 처리 방법을 달리한 메밀(날메밀, 볶은메밀, 찐메밀)에서 효소적 방법으로 비소화성 다당과 가용성 다당을 분리하였다. 가용성 다당은 저분자 가용성 다당과 고분자 가용성 다당으로 비소화성 다당은 crude hemicellulose(CH)와 alcohol insoluble hemicellulose(AIH), residue 그리고 저분자 불용성 다당으로 각각 분리하였다. 다당의 함량은 조리방법에 따라 차이를 나타냈으며 가용성 다당 중 고분자 가용성 다당의 함량은 $5.5{\sim}9.4%$였으며, 저분자 가용성 다당의 함량은 $75.9{\sim}84.2%$였다. 비소화성 다당 중 CH는 $3.2{\sim}9.6%$, AIH는 $0.9{\sim}1.7%$, residue는 $2.0{\sim}2.4%$, 저분자 불용성 다당은 $0.8{\sim}4.2%$였다. 가용성 다당에서는 유리당이 검출되었으나 비소화성 다당에서는 유리당이 검출되지 않았으며 모든 다당 분획에서 단백질이 검출되었다. 가용성 다당의 주요 성분당은 glucose였으며, 비소화성 다당에서는 glucose 이외에 rhamnose, arabinose, xylose, galactose, mannose가 확인되었다.

알루미늄 합금의 레이저 용접시 유기하는 플라즈마의 스펙트럼 분석 (Spectral Analyses of Plasma Induced by Laser Welding of Aluminum Alloys)

  • The paper describes spectroscopic characteristics of plasma induces in the pulsed YAG laser welding of alloys containing a large amount of volatile elements. The authors have conducted the spectroscopic analyses of laser induced Al-Mg alloys plasma in the air and argon atmosphere. In the air environment, the identified spectra were atomic lines of Al, Mg, Cr, Mn, Cu, Fe and Zn, and singly ionized Mg lines, as well as the intense molecular spectra of A10 and Mg0 formed by chemical reactions of evaporated Al and Mg atoms from the pool surface with oxygen in the air. In argon atmosphere, Mg0 and AI0 spectra vanished, but AIH spectrum was detected. The hydrogen source was presumably hydrogen dissolved in the base metals, water absorbed on the surface oxide layer, or $H_2$ and $H_2O$ in the shielding gas. The resonant 1ines of Al and Mg were strongly self-absorbed, in particular, self-absorption of the Mg 1ine was predominant. These results show that the laser induced plasma was made of metal1ic vapor with relatively low temperature and high density.
