Technology Competitiveness in the AI-Edutech Field: Using Patent Indice and Hurdle Negative Binomial Model (특허 자료를 활용한 AI-에듀테크 분야 국가 간 기술 경쟁력 분석: 특허 통계 지표와 허들 음이항 모델의 활용)

  • Recently, interest in edutech has been focused on its fusion with AI technology, and the market in this field is expanding. This study aims to analyze the technological competitiveness and key technological areas of major countries in the AI-edutech field. Additionally, considering that AI-edutech is a convergence of AI technology and edutech, the study seeks to examine the path dependence of AI-edutech in each country to determine whether they are based on existing AI technologies or edutech. To this end, AI-edutech patents were collected and competitiveness was analyzed using patent activity, patent impact, and market acquisition indicators. Path dependence for each country was analyzed using the hurdle negative binomial regression model. The analysis results indicate that the major countries in the AI-edutech field are China, South Korea, the United States, India, and Japan. In terms of patent activity, China had the highest level, followed by South Korea. In terms of patent impact and market securing power, the United States was high in both aspects, Japan had high market securing power, and South Korea had high patent influence. The results of the hurdle negative binomial analysis presented unique findings. The logit part results indicated that the possession of existing AI and edutech did not positively affect the emergence of current AI-edutech, but the count part results showed a positive influence. This suggests that, overall, it is difficult to assert that current AI-edutechs are based on past AI and edutechs. However, once some AI-edutechs based on existing AI and edutechs emerge, they are influenced by the existing technologies. These findings provide implications for future research and technological strategies in this field.

A Study on Major Issues of Artificial Intelligence Using Keyword Analysis of Papers: Focusing on KCI Journals in the Field of Social Science (논문 키워드 분석을 통한 인공지능의 주요 이슈에 관한 고찰 : 사회과학 분야의 KCI 등재학술지를 중심으로)

  • Today, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a key driver of national competitiveness, but it is also causing unexpected side effects in society. This study intends to examine major social issues by collecting papers on AI targeting KCI journals in the field of social science. Therefore, we conducted keyword analysis of papers from 2016 to 2020. As a result of the analysis, the keywords for 'robot' and 'education' appeared the most, and the top six clusters (issues) were derived through the keyword network. The main issues are as follows: the background and/or basic concept of AI, AI education, side effects of AI, legal issues of AI-based creations, intention to use AI products/services, and AI ethics. The results of this study can be used to expand the discussion on the social aspects of AI and to find policy directions at the national level.

  • In this paper, we introduce ETRI AI Strategy #1, "Proactively Securing AI Core Technologies." The first goal of this strategy is to innovate artificial intelligence (AI) service technology to overcome the current limitations of AI technologies. Even though we saw a big jump in AI technology development recently due to the rise of deep learning (DL), DL still has technical limitations and problems. This paper introduces the four major parts of the advanced AI technologies that ETRI will secure to overcome the problems of DL and harmonize AI with the human world: post DL technology, human-AI collaboration technology, intelligence for autonomous things, and big data platform technology.

  • There is no denying that computing power has been a crucial driving force behind the development of artificial intelligence today. In addition, artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors and computing systems are perceived to have promising industrial value in the market along with rapid technological advances. Therefore, success in this field is also meaningful to the nation's growth and competitiveness. In this context, ETRI's AI strategy proposes implementation directions and tasks with the aim of strengthening the technological competitiveness of AI semiconductors and computing systems. The paper contains a brief background of ETRI's AI Strategy #2, research and development trends, and key tasks in four major areas: 1) AI processors, 2) AI computing systems, 3) neuromorphic computing, and 4) quantum computing.

A Study on AI Evolution Trend based on Topic Frame Modeling (인공지능발달 토픽 프레임 연구 -계열화(seriation)와 통합화(skeumorph)의 사회구성주의 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to explain and predict trends the AI development process based on AI technology patents (total) and AI reporting frames in major newspapers. To that end, a summary of South Korean and U.S. technology patents filed over the past nine years and the AI (Artificial Intelligence) news text of major domestic newspapers were analyzed. In this study, Topic Modeling and Time Series Return Analysis using Big Data were used, and additional network agenda correlation and regression analysis techniques were used. First, the results of this study were confirmed in the order of artificial intelligence and algorithm 5G (hot AI technology) in the AI technical patent summary, and in the news report, AI industrial application and data analysis market application were confirmed in the order, indicating the trend of reporting on AI's social culture. Second, as a result of the time series regression analysis, the social and cultural use of AI and the start of industrial application were derived from the rising trend topics. The downward trend was centered on system and hardware technology. Third, QAP analysis using correlation and regression relationship showed a high correlation between AI technology patents and news reporting frames. Through this, AI technology patents and news reporting frames have tended to be socially constructed by the determinants of media discourse in AI development.

Analysis of the possibility of utilizing customized video production using generative AI

  • As generative AI technology develops, the paradigm of video production is also changing. After going through an initial stage where it could not be used as actual video footage due to low quality and difficulties with consistency and continuity, various videos produced with generative AI are being used in the video industry. Following these changes, this paper identifies the potential of customized generative AI. It examines the direction of technological development of generative AI in the video industry and analyzes recent cases in advertising, film, and animation to reveal that the reason for the increased utilization of generative AI is to achieve the essential purpose of content as well as quality results. Through this process, we expect the potential of generative AI in the video industry.

Effectiveness analysis based on PJBL of Liberal Arts Computing (PJBL기반의 교양컴퓨터 수업의 효과성 분석)

  • Currently, many universities are implementing software-oriented universities and artificial intelligence-oriented universities to foster software-oriented manpower. We are educating students to design and produce computational thinking and coding directly with their major knowledge. However, computer education is not easy for non-majors, and there are many difficulties in coding. The results of responses from 104 students from the College of Health Sciences and College of Social Management who took the liberal arts computer at University H were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 version. In the liberal arts computer class for non-majors, a PJBL-based class plan was proposed. The effectiveness of PJBL-based classes was confirmed through a questionnaire for the improvement of artificial intelligence liberal arts courses. As a result, PJBL-based education showed statistically significant results in terms of satisfaction, effectiveness, and self-efficiency of classes regardless of major.

  • With the aim of an intelligent world in the age of individual customization through decentralization of information and technology, sharing/opening, and connection, we often see a tendency to cross expectations and concerns in the technological discourse and interest in artificial intelligence more than ever. Recently, it is easy to find claims by futurists that AI singularity will appear before and after 2045. Now, as part of preparations to create a paradigm of coexistence that coexists and prosper with AI in the coming age of artificial intelligence, a standard framework for setting up more correct AI ethics and regulations is required. This is because excluding the risk of omission of setting major guidelines and methods for evaluating reasonable and more reasonable guideline items and evaluation standards are increasingly becoming major research issues. In order to solve these research problems and at the same time to develop continuous experiences and learning effects on AI ethics and regulation setting, we collect guideline data on AI ethics and regulation of international organizations / countries / companies, and research and suggest ways to set up a standard framework (SF: Standard Framework) through a setting research model and text mining exploratory analysis. The results of this study can be contributed as basic prior research data for more advanced AI ethics and regulatory guidelines item setting and evaluation methods in the future.

A Research on Curriculum Design for Artificial Intelligence Liberal Arts Education by Major Category : Focusing on the Case of D University (전공계열별 인공지능 교양교육을 위한 교육과정 제언 : D대학 교양필수 교과목 사례를 중심으로)

  • Purpose This study explores the development direction of the artificial intelligence curriculum as a universal education that enhances the ability of college students to flexibly use artificial intelligence these days, where artificial intelligence education is spreading, and the educational components based on this are subdivided according to the characteristics of each major. Design/methodology/approach In order to develop the educational purpose of the subject and the detailed educational curriculum suitable for the subject of education, we first analyzed domestic and foreign prior research related to artificial intelligence liberal arts education. As the main components derived by experts, the basic concept of artificial intelligence converges to literacy to read and write for everyday problem solving, as well as problem-solving ability to manipulate real data and software. Findings The results showed that In the artificial intelligence literacy module, trends and prospects of artificial intelligence and necessary competencies were checked, and cases applied to major fields were examined. In the AI utilization and application part, basic data analysis items and content composition were composed through creative thinking, logical thinking, and intelligence. In order to design the curriculum, a software development language suitable for each major area was first selected, and AI education content areas, elements, and packages were defined and designed for each major area to meet the objectives of the subject.

  • With the advent of deep learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has experienced rapid advancements, extending its application across various industrial sectors. However, the focus has shifted from the independent use of AI technology to its dispersion and proliferation through the open AI ecosystem. This shift signifies the transition from a phase of research and development to an era where AI technology is becoming widely accessible to the general public. However, as this dispersion continues, there is an increasing demand for the verification of outcomes derived from AI technologies. Causal AI applies the traditional concept of causal inference to AI, allowing not only the analysis of data correlations but also the derivation of the causes of the results, thereby obtaining the optimal output values. Causal AI technology addresses these limitations by applying the theory of causal inference to machine learning and deep learning to derive the basis of the analysis results. This paper analyzes recent cases of causal AI technology and presents the major tasks and directions of causal AI, extracting patterns between data using the correlation between them and presenting the results of the analysis.
