Research on the Design and Use of Digital Badges to Increase Educational Value (교육적 가치를 높이는 디지털배지 설계와 활용 연구)

  • The rapid change in industry and the technological gap give rise to social demand for upskilling and reskilling and spread of alternative education. Against this backdrop, digital certification and career management tools can be used to manage various types of learning activities comprehensively. Digital badges provide various kinds of history information related to individual learning, and the reliability and transparency of the issued information can be strengthened by applying blockchain technology. There have been various discussions about digital badges for a long time, but due to the lack of standards to support the issuance and distribution of digital badges, they have been partially used in some areas. However, interest in digital badges is increasing due to the development of related technologies, establishment of standards, paradigm changes in higher education, and government policies related to nurturing digital talent. This paper deals with the use of digital badges for efficient and transparent learning management and career management in an online learning environment. The researcher analyzes the technical characteristics and use cases of digital badges, and proposes a plan for use in online higher education based on them.

Optimizing Mobile Educational Content Layout Using AI Technology: Focusing on Vertical Aspect Ratio Design

  • This study focuses on optimizing the layout of mobile educational content using AI technology, with a particular emphasis on vertical aspect ratio design. Against the backdrop of changing educational content consumption patterns due to the increased mobile device usage and advancements in AI technology, this research analyzes the characteristics and effects of vertical aspect ratio design and explores its potential combination with AI technology. The research methodology combines John Yablonski's UX laws and the concept of human effective field of view with AI technology to analyze the impact of vertical aspect ratio design on the educational content user experience and learning effectiveness. Results show that vertical aspect ratio design effectively focuses users' attention, reduces cognitive load, and contributes to increased learning immersion. Specifically, when combined with AI technology, vertical aspect ratio design proves effective in providing personalized learning experiences, enhancing learning abilities, developing creativity, and optimizing data analysis across various domains. This study is expected to contribute to the qualitative improvement of educational content by emphasizing the importance of vertical aspect ratio design in mobile learning environments and proposing optimization methods using AI technology. Future studies are anticipated to further develop these findings, providing important guidelines for mobile educational content development and the advancement of AI educational technology.

Elementary School Teachers' Perception of New Informatics Subject according to Computing Competency

  • In this study, we analyzed elementary school teachers' perception and method of establishing a new subject according to their computing competency. First, we developed a survey on the need to establish a new elementary school informatics. We also collected data from 166 elementary school teachers. As a result of the analysis, opinions differed on the establishment of information subjects depending on teachers' computing competencies. Teachers also showed differences in the characteristics of their subjects, number of class hours, and methods of organizing classes. As the results, we found that in order to establish a new information subject, a plan must be prepared to raise awareness and the need for informatics subjects among teachers who have low computing compency or no major in computer-related fields. We hope that many elementary school teachers will recognize the necessity and importance of establishing a new information subject.

A Study on the Application of Innovative Teaching Method in Tourism in the Generation AI Era (생성형 AI 시대의 관광 분야 혁신교수법 적용에 관한 연구)

  • This study conducted an empirical study on the application of innovative teaching methods in the tourism field in a situation where innovative teaching methods suitable for the AI era are required. It was intended to provide exploratory basic data on the application of a wide range of innovative teaching methods through actual verification of the educational effectiveness before and after the application of the innovative teaching method. To this end, the effectiveness before and after education was empirically verified with 60 students who majored in tourism at Y University in the metropolitan area. Reliability analysis, corresponding sample t-test, and map analysis using graphs were performed on the collected data to increase visibility. As a result of the study, it was found that all the competencies of the innovative teaching method had a statistically significant influence after the application of the innovative teaching method. In addition, by increasing the effect of interaction between instructors and learners acting as facilitators, exploratory results were derived for potential benefits and areas that could be improved.

Vocabulary Improvement Class Design Linking Elementary School AI Education and Writing Education using 'Machine Learning for Kids' (머신러닝 포키즈를 이용한 초등 AI 교육과 글쓰기 교육을 연계한 어휘력 향상 수업설계)

  • 최근 인공지능의 새로운 기술들이 하루가 다르게 발전하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 인공지능 교육과 글쓰기 교육을 연계하여 초등학생들의 어휘력 향상을 위한 수업을 설계하고자 한다. 그 방법으로는 본 수업에 앞서 어휘 10문제를 테스트하여 실험에 참가하기 전의 어휘력을 점검한다. 그 후 머신러닝 포키즈를 이용하여 여러 감정에 해당되는 단어들을 다양하게 훈련하도록 하였고, 그 후 관련된 어휘 10문제를 다시 테스트 하였다. 실험 결과 실험에 참가하기 전에는 100점 만점에 58.8점으로 나왔으나 훈련 후의 결과는 평균 68점으로 모든 학생의 성적이 좋아지는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 어휘력 문항수가 적은 점과 10명의 실험참가자로 일반화할 수 없는 한계가 있다. 향후 초등교재 한권을 선정하여 어휘를 모두 분석한 후 가장 많이 등장하는 어휘를 골라내어 테스트하여 좀 더 통계적으로 의미 있는 분석을 하고자 한다.

  • Due to digitization, data has become a tsunami in almost every data-driven business sector. The information wave has been greatly boosted by man-to-machine (M2M) digital data management. An explosion in the use of ICT for farm management has pushed technical solutions into rural areas and benefited farmers and customers alike. This study discusses the benefits and possible pitfalls of using information and communication technology (ICT) in conventional farming. Information technology (IT), the Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics are discussed, along with the roles of Machine learning (ML), Artificial intelligence (AI), and sensors in farming. Drones are also being studied for crop surveillance and yield optimization management. Global and state-of-the-art Internet of Things (IoT) agricultural platforms are emphasized when relevant. This article analyse the most current publications pertaining to precision agriculture using ML and AI techniques. This study further details about current and future developments in AI and identify existing and prospective research concerns in AI for agriculture based on this thorough extensive literature evaluation.

  • Recently, basic literacy education related to digital literacy and data literacy has been emphasized for students who will live in a rapidly developing future digital society. Accordingly, demand for education to improve big data and data literacy is also increasing in general universities and universities of education as basic knowledge. Therefore, this study designed and applied big data analysis courses for pre-service teachers and analyzed the impact on data literacy. As a result of analyzing the interest and understanding of the input program, it was confirmed that it was an appropriate form for the level of pre-service teachers, and there was a significant improvement in competencies in all areas of 'knowledge', 'skills', and 'values and attitudes' of data literacy. It is hoped that the results of this study will contribute to enhancing the data literacy of students and pre-served teachers by helping with systematic data literacy educational research.

A Study on the Work Process of Creating AI SORA Videos (AI SORA 동영상 생성 제작의 작업 과정에 관한 고찰)

  • The AI program Sora is a video production model that can be used innovatively and is the starting point of a major paradigm shift in video planning and production in the future. In this paper, through consideration of the characteristics, application, and process of the AI video production program, the characteristics of the AI design video production method were understood, and the production algorithm was considered. The detailed consideration and characteristics of the work creation process for the video graphic AI video generation program that will be intensified every year were examined. Next, the method of generating a customized video with a text prompt and the process of innovative production results different from the previous production method were considered. In addition, the design direction through the generation of AI images was studied through the review of the strengths and weaknesses of the image details of the recently announced AI music video results. By considering the security of the AI generation video Sora and looking at the internal process of the actual AI process, it will be possible to present indicators for the future direction of AI video model production and education along with the direction of the design designer and education system. In the text and conclusion, we analyzed the strengths and weaknesses and future status of OpenAI Sora image, concluded how to apply the Sora model's capabilities, limitations, quality, and human creativity, and presented problems and alternatives through examples of the Sora model's capabilities and limitations to increase human creativity.

In the Digital Big Data Classroom Reality and Application of Smart Education : Learner-Centered Education using Edutech (디지털 빅데이터 교실에서 스마트교육의 실제와 활용 : 에듀테크를 활용한 학습자 중심 교육)

  • In this study, we looked at the appearance of Edutech, which is being put into the educational field after Corona 19, with the advent of the 4th industrial revolution. In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, the infrastructure, data, and service of Smart Stick that actively utilized ICT became the main pillars of smart education. In particular, smart education is being implemented through e-learning, smart learning, and edutech, and on this basis, it has become possible through the expansion and use of the Internet and computers, the dissemination of smart devices, and a software foundation using big data. Based on this, it was confirmed that Edutech is being implemented through the establishment of a quarantine safety net, a learning safety net, and a care safety net for individual learners and safe life based on artificial intelligence. Lastly, in order for edutech education using big data to become a discourse for everyone, it is necessary to consider artificial intelligence and ethics in the use and application of edutech.

Prospects and Issues on the Expansion of AI Tech's Influence in Film Creation (AI 기술의 영상제작 분야 영향력 확대에 관한 전망과 쟁점)

  • One More Pumpkin won the grand prize at the 2023 Dubai International AI Film Festival, and new possibilities were also opened through the International AI and Metaverse Film Festival (GAMFF), which was held for the first time in Korea. Generative works began to stand out in earnest, with 527 diverse works from 42 countries at home and abroad using AI and metaverse technology submitted to this contest. AI is being used in a variety of fields, including the creation and implementation of digital characters through combination with VFX, improving the efficiency of video production, and managing the overall video production process. This contributes to saving human and material resources required for production and significantly improving the quality of produced videos. However, generative AI also has ambiguity in copyright attribution, ethical issues inherent in the learned dataset, and technical limitations that fall short of the level of human emotion and creativity. Accordingly, this study suggests implications at the level of production, screening, and use, as generative AI may have an impact in more areas in the future.
