A direct tilted-ring fitting method allows us to investigate kinematic structure of spiral galaxies. By employing the method to high-resolution HI data cubes, we can more easily trace warp characteristics of spiral galaxies than ever. In this contribution, we make use of TiRiFiC to VLA HI data cube of spiral galaxies in Virgo cluster, and present our preliminary yet interesting results. The TiRiFiC (Tilted-Ring-Fitting-Code) is publicly available code that provides 'best-fit' tilted-ring parameters (i.e. position angle and inclination) via chi-square minimization technique. We also discuss possible biases (e.g., resolution dependency) and its effect on our conclusions.

We propose the Bayesian testing for the equality of K-exponential populations means. Specially we use the intrinsic Bayesian factors suggested by Beregr and Perrichi (1996,1998) based on the noninformative priors for the parameters. And, we investigate the usefulness of the proposed Bayesian testing procedures via simulations.

Specially we use the fractional Bayesian factors suggested by O'Hagan (1995) based on the noninformative priors for the parameters. In order to investigate the usefulness of the proposed Bayesian testing procedures, we compare it with classical tests via both real data analysis and simulations.

As laser cutting process is widely used in industry, an automated on-line process control system has become very important. In this paper, development of a laser cutting monitoring system, which is regarded as the fundamental step toward automation of the process, is presented. Acoustic emission and an artificial neural network were used for the monitoring system. With given process Parameters including laser power and scanning speed the system can predict the suitability of laser beam for the cutting or a stainless steel (STS304) plate.

In the hot forging process, The forging defects that are caused by metal were strain, temperate, and inclusion. In this paper, the computer simulation analyzed the effective plastic strain and temperature behaviors. The quantitative analyses which proposed the effective mold design of S/CAM shaft was executed. The parameters of forging shape that affected on the optimize conditions that was calculated with simple equation were investigated. it is expected that the developed analysis model and design technique would greatly contribute to the drum brake optimal design considering temperature affected and material behaviors. This development could save more than 20% of production cost and reduced failure rate to more than 30%. By improving the life span of mold from 15,000 to 25,000, financial difficulty of company imposed on a mold manufacture could be overcome.

The oxidation of carbon monoxide on a catalyst, $LaSrNiCoO_3$ was investigatigated with a plug flow system. Kinetic quantities such as reaction-rate, reaction order and Arhenius-parameters at various reactor temperature from 200$^\circ$C to 300$^\circ$C were determined. Also, the optimum condition for the oxidation of carbon monoxide with this catalyst was determined and are as follows. Partial pressure of oxigen ; 428mmHg Partial pressure of carbon monoxide ; 332mmHg Mixed moral ratio of oxigen and Carbon monoxide ; 1.3 : 1 Total gas flow ; 224ml/min Reaction temperature ; 340$^\circ$C The reaction kinetic equation at the optimum condition, temperature range from 200$^\circ$C to 340$^\circ$C, are as follow. $$ $v = Ae^{6.5Kcal/RT} [CO]^{0.93 \sim 0.98} [O_2]^{0.42 \sim 0.50}$ $$ In addition to this, numerical calculation were performed to evaluate the mass and heat transfer effect on this system.

융설 모형의 중요 매개변수인 적설분포면적은 실제 우리나라에서 적설과 관련한 관측 자료의 부족으로 인해 매개변수 추정이 어렵다. 이러한 문제점 해결을 위해 원격탐사기법을 활용하여 적설분포면적을 추출하였다. 본 연구에서는 1997년부터 2006년까지의 겨울철 NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration)의 AVHRR(Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer) 위성영상의 8 sets의 총 108개 영상을 이용하여 적설분포면적을 추출하였고, 기상청의 지상기상관측소의 최심적설심 자료를 이용하여 GIS 자료를 구축함으로써 적설심의 공간적 분포를 추출하였다. 이를 국내 5대유역인 한강, 낙동강, 금강, 영산강, 섬진강 유역에 대하여 융설모형의 주요 매개변수인 적설분포면적, 유역 평균, 최대 적설심과 적설분포감소비곡선을 구축하였다. 그 중 적설분포면적감소곡선 (SDC : Snow cover Depletion Curve)는 적설분포면적의 감소형태를 나타내주는 지표로써 융설의 가장 민감한 매개변수이다. 이를 국내 5대강 유역에 대해 구축하여 정량화하였다.

In this paper, we propose an improved distributed multi-view video coding method that is robust to illumination changes among different views. The use of view dependency is not effective for multi-view video because each view has different intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameters. In this paper, a modified distributed multi-view coding method is presented that applies illumination compensation when generating side information. The proposed encoder codes DC values of discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients separately by entropy coding. The proposed decoder can generate more accurate side information by using the transmitted DC coefficients to compensate for illumination changes. Furthermore, AC coefficients are coded with conventional entropy or channel coders depending on the frequency band. We found that the proposed algorithm is about 0.1~0.5 dB better than conventional algorithms.

Purpose: This study examined the demographic and lifestyle differences between women with osteopenia and those with normal bone mineral density (BMD) to identify risk factors for osteopenia. Method: Participants comprised 381 women age 40-64 years. Data were collected using surveys, BMD measures, and anthropometric parameters. Results: Prevalence of osteopenia was 29.1%; significant differences in age group, job, age at menarche, age at menopause, and body mass index were found between women with osteopenia and those with normal BMD. Logistic regression analysis indicated that advanced age, unemployment, lower body mass index, and lack of exercise in women were significantly associated with osteopenia. Conclusion: This study suggests the need for strategies to improve bone health and continuous cohort studies to identify risk factors.
