The Effects of Air Injection in Compressor Exit on the Response Performance of a Turbocharged Diesel Engine under the Operating Conditions of Rapid Acceleration. (터보과급디젤기관의 급가속 운전시 압축기출구에의 공기분사가 응답성능에 미치는 영향)

  • In this paper, an experimental study is carried out under the operating conditions of low speed and rapid acceleration in order to investigate and improve the response characteristics of a turbocharged diesel engine with radial turbine driven by exhaust gas. A rapid acceleration for investigating the response performance is applied to the fuel-pump rack of the engine from 0-10% to 0-40% in steps of 10%, and accelerating time of 1, 2 and 3 seconds is applied to the engine. Further experiment for improving the low speed torque and acceleration performance is also performed by means of injecting air into the inlet manifold at compressor exit during the period of low speed and application of a rapid acceleration. The effects of air injection on the response performance are represented at subjected engine speed with the changes of response performance factors such as air injection pressure, air injection period, accelerating rate, accelerating time and load. From the experimental results obtained throughout this study, it is shown that air injection into the inlet manifold at compressor exit is closely related to the improvement of low speed and acceleration performance of a turbocharged diesel engine.

  • The classical Kalman filter (KF) can provide effective state estimation for structural identification and vibration control, but it is applicable only when external inputs are measured. So far, some studies of Kalman filter with unknown inputs (KF-UI) have been proposed. However, previous KF-UI approaches based solely on acceleration measurements are inherently unstable which leads to poor tracking and fictitious drifts in the identified structural displacements and unknown inputs in the presence of measurement noises. Moreover, it is necessary to have the measurements of acceleration responses at the locations where unknown inputs applied, i.e., with collocated acceleration measurements in these approaches. In this paper, it aims to extend the classical KF approach to circumvent the above limitations for general real time estimation of structural state and unknown inputs without using collocated acceleration measurements. Based on the scheme of the classical KF, an improved Kalman filter with unknown excitations (KF-UI) and without collocated acceleration measurements is derived. Then, data fusion of acceleration and displacement or strain measurements is used to prevent the drifts in the identified structural state and unknown inputs in real time. Such algorithm is not available in the literature. Some numerical examples are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

DIFFUSIVE SHOCK ACCELERATION BY MULTIPLE WEAK SHOCKS

  • The intracluster medium (ICM) is expected to experience on average about three passages of weak shocks with low sonic Mach numbers, M ≲ 3, during the formation of galaxy clusters. Both protons and electrons could be accelerated to become high energy cosmic rays (CRs) at such ICM shocks via diffusive shock acceleration (DSA). We examine the effects of DSA by multiple shocks on the spectrum of accelerated CRs by including in situ injection/acceleration at each shock, followed by repeated re-acceleration at successive shocks in the test-particle regime. For simplicity, the accelerated particles are assumed to undergo adiabatic decompression without energy loss and escape from the system, before they encounter subsequent shocks. We show that in general the CR spectrum is flattened by multiple shock passages, compared to a single episode of DSA, and that the acceleration efficiency increases with successive shock passages. However, the decompression due to the expansion of shocks into the cluster outskirts may reduce the amplification and flattening of the CR spectrum by multiple shock passages. The final CR spectrum behind the last shock is determined by the accumulated effects of repeated re-acceleration by all previous shocks, but it is relatively insensitive to the ordering of the shock Mach numbers. Thus multiple passages of shocks may cause the slope of the CR spectrum to deviate from the canonical DSA power-law slope of the current shock.

  • In this paper the effect of frequency domain on the estimation of acceleration of high-speed railway bridges was investigated. Field test was conducted for two bridges. One bridge has ballasted tracks, the other slab tracks. Acceleration and displacement were measured. Effect of filtering on acceleration and displacement was analyzed.

  • We discuss the effects of the ${\delta}^2$ and Lubkin acceleration methods on the partial sums of Fourier Series. We construct continuous, even H$\ddot{o}$lder continuous functions, for which these acceleration methods fail to give convergence. The constructed functions include some interesting trigonometric series whose properties were investigated by Hardy and Littlewood.

  • During normal operation of 100% FP Reactor power(TBN/GEN output:690MWe), several times of acceleration phenomena has been generated on the turbine generator-of Wolsong #1 NPP. It was concluded that the acceleration occured following big sudden drop of the terminal voltage of main generator due to AVR potentiometer fault. The cause of turbine acceleration is reviewed with a several records and demonstrated by computer simulation, also presents a countermeasure of its trouble.

  • This research analyzed dynamic responses of the preflex railroad bridge. Vertical deflection and acceleration induced by operating train loads and test train loads were measured. Deflection of bridge by train traveling satisfies deflection limitation regulation (L/800) about the concrete bridge, but compare with UIC standard, vibration acceleration happened fairly greatly. Also test result show that acceleration receives greatly effect about the speed than deflection. It must discuss about vibration acceleration problems for speed elevation hereafter.

  • A robust position control scheme for DC Motor is proposed based on Fuzzy Acceleration Control. Proposed control system has the similar structure that Y. Hori proposed. But the PI type acceleration controller of it is replaced by Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC) which is known to be robust to the operating point and parameter variations. By the simulation study for a real DC Motor, we have slowed the superiority to the continuous PI acceleration controller in the view point of robustness to the operating point and parameter variations.

  • This paper concerns on a non-rotating single-DOF beam-active magnetic bearing(AMB) system subject to arbitrary shaped base motion. In such a system, it is desirable to retain the beam within the predetermined air-gap under foundation excitation. Motivated form this, an adaptive acceleration feedforward control is proposed to reduce the base motion response without deteriorating other feedback control performances. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the acceleration feedforward control.
