  • This study develops an empirical prediction equation of spectral acceleration responses of earthquakes which can induce structural damages. Ground motion records representing hazards of low-to-moderate seismic regions were selected and organized with several influential factors affecting the response spectra. The empirical equation and estimator coefficients for acceleration response spectra were then proposed using a robust nonlinear optimization coupled with a regression analysis. For analytical verification of the prediction equation, response spectra used for low-to-moderate seismic regions were estimated and the predicted results were comparatively evaluated with measured response spectra. As a result, the predicted shapes of response spectra can simulate the graphical shapes of measured data with high accuracy and most of predicted results are distributed inside range of correlation of variation (COV) of 30% from perfectly correlated lines.

  • In this paper, we propose algorithm for determining the static and dynamic posture using the acceleration sensor of smartphone. The measured acceleration values are then analyzed according to a preprocessing to the respective axis (X, Y, Z) and posture (standing, sitting, lying) presents static posture determination criterion. The proposed static posture determination condition is used for static posture determination and dynamic posture determination. The dynamic posture is determined by using regression linear equations. In addition, transition state can be grasped by SVM change in dynamic posture determination. Experimental results are presented using data and app. Experiments were performed using data collected from 10 adults.

  • In this paper, earthquake response of the Bangkok area in Thailand was analyzed in terms of the acceleration response spectrum and maximum acceleration of the computed surface motions. The program SHAKE was employed to analyse the ground motion. With increasing the maximum acceleration and predominant period of given base rock motion, the computed maximum ground surface acceleration increases. but converges on a maximum value of about 0.39. The characteristics of earthquake response spectrum in the Bangkok area are also discussed and illustrated.

  • This study provides floor vibration analysis for a factory constructed by ES-beam using field measured acceleration data. The natural frequencies of the first two modes of floor are extracted from measured data. With this information, a system identification has been performed to produce a numerical model representing existing floor. The peak magnitudes of acceleration for one man walking heel drop load from experiment and numerical model are analyzed using ISO vibration criteria and AIJ vibration performance criteria. The results show that there is no problem in use of ES-beam.

  • The integrated environment for the fuzzy logic controller with the acceleration converter to improve the dynamic characteristic of a one-axis moving table is proposed in the paper. The two inputs of the fuzzy logic controller are position error and velocity. The two inputs of the acceleration converter used to produce the acceleration input for the one-axis moving table are actual and setting rotational speeds. The proposed controller is implemented on a personal computer by using MATLAB and Visual Basic for a real time control via a motion control board. The position control results when the stair input is applied to control the position of the one-axis moving table, are shown. The experimental results of the proposed position control system are compared to the conventional PID ...

  • The intermittent characteristics of fluid particle accelerations near the wall are investigated with the higher-order statistics and the probability density functions (PDF) by using a direct numerical simulation of turbulent channel flow. Also, the behaviors of acceleration associated with the coherent structures are discussed. The flatness factor of wall-normal acceleration is extremely high near the wall and it exceeds the previously reported value obtained in isotropic turbulence. The presence of the wall seems to make the accelerations more intermittent and the associated mechanism is explained with the PDFs. The skewness factor of wall-normal acceleration indicates that accelerations are associated with the streamwise vortices.

  • In this study, the serviceability of Waffle shaped(WAS) and Double-Tee(DT) precast concrete slabs was evaluated and compared based on the vertical acceleration magnitude induced by walking and heel drop loads. Tests were conducted for practical building structures (a shopping mall in Hanam) of which floor systems used WAS and DT slabs. Natural frequencies of the slabs were similar to those obtained by using analytical models. The measured acceleration level was evaluated by vertical floor acceleration criteria presented by ISO-2631, AIJ(1991, Japan), and a previous study regarding floor vibration limit. Test results showed that both WAS and DT slabs satisfied all the criteria and the maximum acceleration level of WAS slabs was lower than that of DT slabs.

  • This paper concerns on one-DOF non-rotating active magnetic bearing (AMB) system subject to base motion. In such a system, it is desirable to retain the axis within the predetermined air-gap while the base motion forces the axis to deviate from the desired air-gap. Motivated from this, an optimal acceleration feedforward control is proposed to reduce the base motion response without deteriorating other feedback control performances. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed optimal feedforward control reduces the standard deviation of the air-gap to 29% that by feedback control alone.

  • By the reason of increased demand of high productivity and quality, the manufacturer have an effort in many directions of a machine tool industries. Among there, we proposed method of decreasing displacement in MC(machining center). In other words, Quality related with vibration of a tool cutting products. For decreasing it, improved by optimizing a shape of the column-part and acceleration curves of motors. In this paper we could find design factors has much influence on decreasing the displacement using the DOE(Design of Experiments) and optimized the level of the factors using $ADAMS^{(R)}$ and $MINITAB.^{(R)}$ And we suggest optimized a acceleration curve using $Matlab^{(R)}$.

  • Dynamic response of ground due to train loads is analyzed. A numerical procedure based on finite element method is used to solve two-dimensional ground response. Dynamic train loads assumed in analysis is the point acceleration on train rail with magnitude of 2330 gal and thickness of surface of soil layer assumed is 60cm. In order to consider the effect of acceleration point, dynamic responses such as response acceleration and displacement are computed as a function of distance from acceleration point on rail. In addition, simple methods which reduce dynamic effects on ground are also proposed.
