  • This paper proposes a wide output range AC/DC converter for a rechargeable battery of electric vehicle. In the proposed wide output range AC/DC converter for rechargeable battery of electric vehicle, the main transformer in the DC/DC stage is divided by two. Therefore, if the switch is connected to the middle tap, then half of the maximum voltage is applied. Otherwise, it can be applied the full range of the high voltage by connecting the switch to the whole tab. And also, it is designed to have a wide output voltage range by applying Vin/2 made by changing the full-bridge to half-bridge by using the bridge change switch of the input stage. As it can be supplied the wide range output voltage with a single module, it has the advantage of space utilization and cost reduction effect.

  • High frequency switching converters are becoming more popular because of several benefits which are essential in power conversion system. This paper introduces a high speed digital controller using TMS320C40 DSP chip which can be used for high frequency switching converters and demonstrates its performance by operating three-phase PWM AC/DC converter with unity power factor at 20kHz sampling frequency. TMS320C40 DSP chip operates with 40-ns instruction cycle times and is capable of 275 MOPS. The running time of real time control loop at the three-phase PWM AC/DC converter is $44.6{\mu}sec$.

  • This paper presents the single-stage High Power Factor AC/DC Two-Switch Forward Converter (TSFC). Recently, due to growing concern about the harmonic pollution of power distribution systems and the adoption of standards such as ICE 61000-3-2 and IEEE 519, There is a need to reduce the harmonic contents of AC line currents of power supplies. This research proposed the single-stage two switch forward circuit for low voltage and high current output. The principle of operation, feature and design considerations are illustrated and verified through the simulation with a 200W(5V, 40A) 200kHz MOSFET based experimental circuit.

  • This paper presents battery charging method using 3-phase AC-DC boost converter. General battery charging method is that charging the battery voltage to the reference voltage according to the constant current(CC) control, when it reaches the reference voltage, charging the battery fully according to the constant voltage(CV) control. However, battery chaging time is increased because of the battery impedance, constant current charging section which shoud take the large amount of charge is narrow, and constant voltage charging section which can generate insufficient charge is widen. To improve this problem, we proposes the method to reduce the charging time according to the SOC(State of Charge) estimation using battery impedance.

  • This paper is research result for a development of solar cell silicon ingot glowing(SCSIG) PWM converter system for 120[kW] 3[kA]. The system include 3-phase AC-DC rectifier diode converter of input voltage AC 460[V] and 60[Hz], DC-AC single phase full bridge PWM inverter of high frequency, AC-DC single-phase full wave rectifier using center-tapped of transformer for low voltage 50[V] and large current 3,000[A], carbon resistor load 0.2 [$m{\Omega}$]. PWM switching frequency for IGBT inverter control set 15KHz. The suggested researching contents are designed data sheets of power converter system, PSIM simulation, operating characteristics and analysis results of developed SCSIG system.

  • An interleaved single-stage power-factor-correction (PFC) AC/DC converter is presented in this paper. The proposed converter is combined by two single-stage AC/DC converters based on flyback converter Each PFC stage operates in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). By exploiting the interleaving technique, the input ripple current and output ripple voltage are reduced. The proposed converter complied with EN/1EC61000-3-2 harmonic regulations achieves high efficiency and low cost. The performance of the proposed converter was evaluated on a 180W $(90W\times2,\;24V,\;7.5A)$ experimental prototype.

  • This paper presents the single-stage high power factor AC to DC converter operated in active-clamp mode. The proposed converter is added active-clamping circuit to boost-flyback single-stage power factor corrected power supply. The active-clamping circuit limits voltage spikes, recycles the energy trapped in the leakage inductance, and provides a mechanism for achieving soft switching of the electronic switches to reduce the switching loss. The auxiliary switch of active-clamping circuit uses the same control and driver circuit as the main switch to reduce the additional cost and size. To verify the performance of the proposed converter, a 100W converter has been designed. The proposed converter gives good power factor correction, low line current harmonic distortions, and tight output voltage regulation, as used unity power factor.

  • In this paper, new high-efficiency zero voltage switching (ZVS) AC-DC boost converter is proposed to achieve power factor correction by simplifing energy recovery circuit. A lot of high power factor correction circuits have been proposed and applied to increase input power factor and efficiency. Most of these circuits may obtain unity power factor and achieve sinusoidal current waveform with zero voltage or/and zero current switching. However, it is difficult for them to obtain low cost, small size, low weight, and low noise. The topology proposed to improve these problems can compact the devices in circuit and can achieve high efficiency ZVS AC-DC boost converter. Simulation and experimental results show that this topology is capable of obtaining high power factor and increasing the efficiency of the system.

  • This paper proposes a bi-directional current switch with snubber regeneration using Power MOSFETs and this paper proposes to use a loss-less snubber with switching device to perform soft-switching. It results in not only decreasing switching loss in the device drastically, but also improving input ac current waveform distortion. The computer simulation results show that the input current waveform and show the requirements necessary for the elimination of the 3rd harmonic component. We also show the procedure to design the parameters of the converter.

  • In the AC module system, mismatch problem between AC power and constant input power is occurred. To solve this problem, electrolytic capacitor is utilized for diminishing power pulsation in PV side. However, it has disadvantages of low life span and weak in temperature. Decoupling method has been studied to reduce the capacitance and replaces electrolytic capacitor to film capacitor. This paper proposes design method for decoupling circuit which bidirectional DC-DC converter using soft switching. Proposed system is verified by design optimization and simulation results.
