  • Each feeding power is transformed 3 phases of KEPCO through SCOTT transformer and operate a electric train in AC Feeding system of electric railway. Nowaday a power conversion system, installed inside the train, generate a harmonics and has a effect on a power quality and it is necessary to install a countermeasures. This report is proposed a new technique to simulate a power system based on frequency model. The result is resonable relatively with a experimental one.

  • This paper describes the development of integrated simulator for traction power supply system with GUI (Graphic User Interface). This simulator consists of a lot of calculation modules such as TPS, time table, line constant, and power supply system analysis. Each module has input and output structure respectively. The proposed simulator is tested on both high speed railway line and metropolitan subway line. The test has confirmed the function of the developed simulator.

  • The rectifier for Electric railway is one of the most important facilities in DC urban railway which converts power from KEPCO(AC 22.9kV) to the electric mil car(DC 1.5kV), therefore it should be managed as the best condition for the drive. There are several things to cause performance degradation and deterioration of parts such as pollutants occurred by it established under the ground such as dust or foreign substances, rapid changes of driving current, and pyrogen which put the rectifier for Electric railway in malfunction. On the flow of time, the rectifier for Electric railway is causing a malfunction or failure which drive electric rail car in operations as well as loss of life. In this research we try to find the way of removing the various components of mal-functions in the performance of the rectifier for Electric railway by Over-Haul and reform itself, which gives us to get the chance investment of the reduction, the reliability of power supply to the electric rail car.

  • On AC railway systems, the neutral sections are installed in front of substations and sectioning posts in order to avoid crash between power that have differing phases. In case railway vehicles pass through these neutral sections, it is necessary for them to switch to coasting driving by notch-off. This may reduce speed of the vehicles, resulting lowered train operation efficiency. The usage of automatic power switching systems makes it possible to pass neutral sections at notch-on, enhancing operation efficiency so that it is appropriate for high-speed railway applications. This paper analyzed inrush current of main transformer that installed on the train while passing through the neutral section using the simulator.

  • This paper introduces an comprehensive monitoring and management program for implementation of a real-time monitoring system that monitors condition of urban railway AC/DC transformers, disconnecting switches, circuit breakers, regulators, and GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear). Especially, the system is applied to diagnose the overall condition of urban railway substations by sending acquired data through an OPC server to a database, effectively storing and monitoring conditions simultaneously. The above system is a management based system and is also applicable to small-scale systems.

  • In electric railways, high speed trains are normally supplied by AC 25kV power by contact between a pantograph contact strip and a contact wire. Advanced railway operating countries are actively researching various areas for the development of contact strips due to the reason that the properties of contact strips are one of the key factors of electric railways. This paper applied nano technology which is rapidly growing in many areas to the contact strip of a pantograph for current collection performance improvement considering speed up of electric railways. In detail, this paper proposes a method to dope nano particles of metal to a Korea Train eXpress(KTX) carbon pantograph and its measurement results. It is expected that the contents of this paper be used for preliminary study of high-speed railway current collection technologies.

  • With the development of high speed railway, traction motors play a critical role in the operation of railway vehicle. This paper describes the use of 1000 pF coupler as a on-line partial discharge (PD) measurement for the assessment of railway traction motor. The PD tests are performed with developed PD analyzer and the 5 model coils such as thermal, electrical, mechanical and environmental aging respectively at various AC voltages. On-line PD tests using 1000 pF couplers show that PD patterns can be detected successfully at 2.3 kV.

  • 본 논문은 철도차량의 추진용 유입식 변압기 및 AC/DC 컨버터를 대체하기 위한 지능형 변압기의 구조를 제안한다. 제안된 지능형 변압기는 반도체 스위칭 소자 및 고주파 변압기를 사용한 양방향 전력 변환 컨버터의 형태로써, 기존 변압기에 비해 경량화 되고, 역률 제어 등의 능동적인 제어 성능으로 인해 단상 계통 전원의 효율적인 활용을 가능하게 한다. 제안하는 지능형 변압기는 60Hz 교류 고전압을 직류 고전압으로 변환하기 위한 정류단으로 Neutral point clamped type 의 H-bridge 컨버터를 여러 개 직렬 연결해 구성했다. 직류로 변환된 입력단 전력은 고주파 변압기와 Neutral point clamped type H-bridge 컨버터 2개로 구성된 Dual-Active-Bridge 컨버터를 이용해 출력측에 필요한 저전압을 공급할 수 있도록 했다. 또한, 본 논문에서는 다수의 컨버터 모듈 내부 직류단 전압을 균형제어하며, 단상 교류 전원에서 직류 출력 전원간의 양방향 전력 제어를 가능하게 하는 제어 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안한 지능형 변압기의 구조 및 제어 시스템은 75kVA 급 3.3kVrms 입력, 750VDC 출력의 지능형 변압기를 설계 및 회로 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 검증했다.

교류전기철도 불평형 전력 개선을 위한 전력보상장치 제어 (Power Compensator Control for Improving Unbalanced Power of AC Electric Railway)

  • In this study, we propose a control algorithm to reduce the unbalanced characteristics of a three-phase system power caused by the unbalanced load of the AC electric railway. Then, we verify its performance through the design of a power compensator and experiments applying it. Like electric railway systems, a Scott transformer is applied, and the load and single-phase back-to-back converters are connected to the M-phase and T-phase outputs. The back-to-back converter monitors the difference in active power between the unbalanced loads in real-time and compensates for the power by using bidirectional characteristics. The active power is performed through PI control in the synchronous coordinate system, and DC link overall voltage and voltage balancing control are controlled jointly by M-phase and T-phase converters to improve the responsiveness of the system. To verify the performance of the proposed power compensation device, an experiment was performed under the condition that M-phase 5 kW and T-phase 1 kW unbalanced load. As a result of the experiment, the unbalance rate of the three-phase current after the operation of the power compensator decreases by 58.66% from 65.04% to 6.38%, and the excellent performance of the power compensator proposed in this study is verified.

교류 입력 전압 변동에 따른 사이리스터 듀얼 컨버터의 출력 특성 개선을 위한 알고리즘 개발 (Algorithm Development for Improving Output Characteristics of Thyristor Dual Converter with AC Input Voltage Variation)

  • Electric energy is consumed or regenerated according to an operation of electric rail cars in urban railway power substations. A thyristor dual converter system is used to deal with the electric energy. Since the AC input voltage of power substations is $22.9kV{\pm}10%$, the magnitude of the AC voltage fluctuates according to load conditions, so the secondary side voltage of the DDY transformer also fluctuates. In the thyristor dual converter, the response characteristics of the DC output voltage and the DC output current are changed based on an initial firing angle in the cross mode conversion between the forward mode and the reverse mode. Therefore, this paper proposes the initial firing angle tracking algorithm considering fluctuation of the AC input voltage. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by a simulation compared with the conventional algorithm.
