Analysis of error factors of the Fall-of-potential test method in measurements of grounding impedance (전위강하법에 의한 접지임피던스 측정 시 오차요인 분석)

  • This paper presents the error factors of Fall-of-potential test method used in measurements of the grounding-system impedance. This test methods inherently can introduce two possible errors in the measurements of grounding-system impedance: (1) ground mutual resistance due to current flow through ground from the ground electrode to the current probe, (2) ac mutual coupling between the current test lead and the potential test lead. The errors of ground mutual resistances and ac mutual coupling are expressed by the equation in calculating grounding impedance. These equations were calculated by Matlab that is commercial tool using mathematical calculation. The results of calculation were applied to correct grounding impedance.

  • NDI technique system using AC current is newly developed for inspection of defects. This technique is non-contact measurement system and can be applied for locating and sizing of surface defects in components. In this paper, the technique was applied for evaluating the location and size for 2-dimensional surface cracks and we had investigated the influence of frequency and lift-off. The results show that defects are able to detect with the variety of voltage, and the measuring voltage for the depth of defects are under the influence of the measuring frequency and the lift-off.

  • In this paper discusses winding methode of single phase AC-DC reversible power converter The reversible power converter driven by multi Tap winding at both side switching control. It has a advantage that simple drive of main switching device. and obtain load current of good quality without filter circuit and free from noise or isolation for lower switching frequency. In this research, study on current type converter and inverter circuit that consist for possibility of AC-DC/DC-AC multi-level reversible converter.

  • HTS(High Temperature Superconductor) tapes have dependence on critical characteristics such as electric, magnetic field and temperature. In order to confirm these effects, we examined the current transport characteristics of HTS tapes. First, after being fed DC and AC, the dependence of HTS tapes of 10cm on external magnetic field was investigated. On centeral region of HTS tape, about 1cm, external magnetic field was applied. Second, after applying DC of 50A to HTS tapes, we applied time variable magnetic field about 100mT and investigated the quench characteristics. Finally, AC, which is about 10 times of I$_{c}$, was applied to HTS tapes and over current characteristics were investigated. The data acquired in this study will be used as a source for the study of HTS cable conductor which is supposed to carry on.n.

Flux Loss and Neutron Diffraction Measurement Ag-sheathed Bi-2223 Tapes in terms of Flux Creep

  • Alternating current (AC) losses of two Bi-2223 ([Bi, Pb]: Sr: Ca: Cu: O = 2:2:2:3) tapes [(Tape I, un-twist-pitch) and the other with a twist-pitch of 10 mm (Tape II)] were measured and compared. These samples, produced by the powder-in-(Ag) tube (PIT) method, are multi-filamentary. Also, it's produced by non-twist and different twist pitch (8, 10, 13, 30, 50 and 70 mm). The critical current measurement was carried out under the environment in liquid Nitrogen and in zero-field by 4-probe method. Susceptibility measurements were conducted while cooling in a magnetic field. Flux loss measurements were conducted as a function of ramping rate, frequency and field direction. The AC flux loss increases as the twist-pitch of the tapes decreased, in agreement with the Norris Equation. Neutron-diffraction measurements have been carried out investigate the crystal structure, magnetic structures, and magnetic phase transitions in Bi-2223([Bi, Pb]:Sr:Ca:Cu:O)

  • The surface discharge type ac plasma display panel(ac PDP) is a flat display devices using gas discharge. In ac PDP, parallel electrodes covered with dielectric layer are on a substrates. The discharge current characteristics are affected by cell structure. In this study, the relationship between the principal design factor and discharge characteristics is discussed, based on experiment, and the current waveform is measured by voltage detector and storage O.S.C. as a parameter of design factor, e.g., electrode gap and width.

  • In order to measure the superconducting transition temperature, the critical current and the alternating current(AC) loss on short samples of high temperature superconductor, a cryocooler cooled cryostat has been designed and built. Two closed-cycle coolers provide cooling with an ultimate sample temperature below 16K. Temperature regulation is provided by 50W of electrical heater that opposes the cooling power from the cold heads. Temperature control feedback is by means of a cernox temperature sensor co-located with the heaters on the second stage of the cold head. Additional temperature sensors are located on the sample mount(B1), on the CVI cold head(B2) and on the Dakin cold head(B3). AC losses on the sample high temperature superconductor were measured at 30K so that the developed device performance was evaluated. In this paper, the design, fabrication and test results on the cryocooler cooled cryostat are presented.

  • This paper proposed the single phase multi-level PWM AC/DC converter using binary combine which controls input current by combining buck converters to improve input current characteristic, and confirmed its validity throughout simulation and experiment. This method, which is multiplying and duplicating output of converter of equal capacity, has the advantage of being able to control unit power factor of input current and reducing of the problem caused by high frequency switching, and appling to high power converter because filter is not necessary etc.

  • In this paper, we proposed AC/DC boost converter to improve input current harmonic reduction in SMAW(shielded metal-arc welding). The proposed harmonic reduction with the boost converter design and the UC2854 integrated circuit which controls the converter, The topology of welding power supply is made of a pair of boost converter and welder half-bridge IGBT inverter. The voltage arc is modeled by a variable resistance in series with a voltage source. The results has been confirmed by PSIM simulation tool. The simulation results show that input at current is nearly sinusoidal with low harmonic contents and sinusoidal input current waveform at high power factor.

  • Many new electronic products are required to have a near unity power factor and a distortion free input current waveform. In this paper, a high performance single phase PWM AC/DC converter with input power factor correction is proposed. This proposed control strategy has many advantages which include one semiconduction switch, simplified control circuit, high performance features and continuous input current. The experimental results are included to verify the validity of this approach.
