Recently, the collision problems between a bridge and a navigating ship are frequently issued at the stage of structure design. Even the many study results about vessel to vessel collision are presented, but the collision studies between vessel and bridge structure have been hardly presented. In this study, nonlinear dynamic analysis of vessel and fender system carry out using ABAQUS/Explicit commercial program with consideration of some parameters, such as bow structure we composed to shell element also ship's hull is modeling to beam element. Also, buoyancy effect is considered as spring element. The two types of fender systems was comparable with both collision analysis about steel materials fender system and rubber fender system On the purpose of study is analyzed the plasticity dissipated energy of vessel and fender system. We blow characteristic that kinetic energy is disappeared by plastic large deformation in case of collision. Also, We considered dissipated kinetic energy considering friction effect.
This paper describes a reinforced concrete crack model, which utilizes a strain decomposition technique. The strain decomposition technique enables the explicit inclusion of physical behavior across the cracked concrete surface such as aggregate interlock and dowel action rather than intuitively defining the shear retention factor. The proposed concrete crack model is integrated into the commercial finite element software ABAQUS shell elements through a user-supplied material subroutine. The FE results have been compared to experimental results reported by other researchers. The proposed bridge FE model is capable of predicting the initial cracking load level, the ultimate load capacity, and the crack pattern with good accuracy.
Mechanical systems with rubber parts have been used widely in industry fields. The evaluation of the physical characteristics of rubber is important in rubber application. Rubber material is useful to machine component for excellent shock absorbing characteristics. The impact characteristics of rubber were examined by experimental and finite element method. The impact test was conducted with a free-drop type impact tester. The ABAQUS/Explicit was used for finite element analysis. The effects of thickness and diameter of the cylindrical rubber structures were investigated. The impact absorbing ratio of the rubber material was studied order to compare the peak reaction force of the specimen which only contained aluminum against the specimen with the inserted rubber part.
When ultrasound propagates to a crack, transmitted and reflected waves are generated. These waves have useful information for the detection of the crack lying in a structure. When a crack is under residual stress, crack surfaces will contact each other and a closed crack is formed. For closed cracks, the fundamental component of the reflected and transmitted waves will be weak, and as such it is not easy to detect them. In this case, higher harmonic components will be useful. In this paper, nonlinear characteristic of a closed crack is modeled by a continuum material having a tensile-compressive unsymmetry, and the amplitude of the second harmonic wave was obtained by spectrum analysis. Variation of the second harmonic component depending on the nonlinearity of the inclusion was investigated. Two-dimensional plane strain model is considered, and finite element software ABAQUS/Explicit is used.
The Aerospace and automobile industries have need to avoid sheet-metal forming problem such as incorrect springback after forming and trimming process, excessive thinning/tearing, wrinking/perkering. It is common practice to use costly trial-and-error experimental methods to develop tooling and manufacturing process parameters. Experimentation should be complemented with computer simulation to reduce cost and leadtime in manufacturing and to influence the design of components. In this study, firstly we solved the springback problem after drawing and trimming process of KFP(F100-229) engine airsealing bearing support part(53H00) forming and studied on the effect of several process parameters on the gap between the formed blank and punch shape using the implicit F.E.M code(ABAQUS). Secondly by the three dimensional dynamic analysis using the explicit. F. E. M code (LS-DYNA3D), we studied on the effect of several process parameters which can be used for avoid tearing and wrinking during the drawing process.
The super convergent laminated composite beam element is newly derived for the lateral stability analysis. For this, a theoretical model of the laminated composite beams is developed based on the first-order shear deformation beam theory. The present laminated beam takes into account the transverse shear and the restrained warping induced shear deformation. The second-order coupling torque resulting from the geometric nonlinearity is rigorously derived. From the principle of minimum total potential energy, the stability equations and force-displacement relationships are derived and the explicit expressions for the displacement parameters are presented by applying the power series expansions of displacement components to simultaneous ordinary differential equations. Finally, the member stiffness matrix is determined using the force-displacement relationships. In order to show accuracy and superiority of the beam element developed by this study, the critical lateral buckling moments for bisymmetric and monosymmetric I-beams are presented and compared with other results available in the literature, the isoparametric beam elements, and shell elements from ABAQUS.
For the spatially coupled free vibration analysis of shear deformable thin-walled non-symmetric curved beam subjected to initial axial force, an exact dynamic element stiffness matrix of curved beam is evaluated. Firstly equations of motion and force-deformation relations are rigorously derived from the total potential energy for a curved beam element. Next a system of linear algebraic equations are constructed by introducing 14 displacement parameters and transforming the second order simultaneous differential equations into the first order simultaneous differential equations. And then explicit expressions for displacement parameters are numerically evaluated via eigensolutions and the exact $14{\times}14$ dynamic element stiffness matrix is determined using force-deformation relations. To demonstrate the accuracy and the reliability of this study, the spatially coupled natural frequencies of shear deformable thin-walled non-symmetric curved beams subjected to initial axial forces are evaluated and compared with analytical and FE solutions using isoparametric and Hermitian curved beam elements and results by ABAQUS's shell elements.
In the present paper, finite element analyses were carried out to evaluate the most important feature of a stent, that is. high radial strength and flexibility. Palmaz-Schatz 154 stent and two new models(stent A, stent B) were selected because they are the most representatives of tubular stents. Finite element analyses for the stent system were performed using ABAQUS/Explicit code. As a result, Palmaz-Schatz 154 stent shows sufficient radial strength but it needs some improvement in general properties such as high flexibility, low elastic recoil, low longitudinal contraction and low metal coverage area. Other two models show that sufficient flexibility, foreshortening and longitudinal recoil.
This paper present the results of finite element analysis to examine the sloshing characteristics of the cylindrical and rectangular tank partially fluid-filled. The sloshing characteristic for the existence and the non-existence of the baffle are investigated and the results compared with the references. For the rectangular tank, the vertical displacements are used to study of the sloshing characteristics. But for the cylindrical tank, the damping factors obtained from the vertical displacements of free surface with the depth of ring baffle are usedto study of the sloshing characteristics. The adaptive meshing method in the ABAQUS 5.8/Explicit is used for the sloshing analysis.
