  • The clear and mechanical definition of quality is the key success factor for its wide adoption across various industries and non-profit organizations and its popularity as a managerial goal. However, 'Quality of Life'(QOL) which is a common research subject for the various social science fields seems to require a quite different conceptualization of quality. The paper is a conceptual paper which identifies the compatibility and differences between a traditional quality concept and quality in QOL studies. Also, demonstrating from the social systems perspective how quality is conceptualized in measuring the social dimensions of consumption environmental quality, the paper argues the necessity of a broadened concept regarding quality.

  • Background and objective: Instagram, an image-based social media, is being used as an important outlet for the communication and place marketing of public spaces. The purpose of this paper was to analyze how types of place-based content affect user reactions (Likes and Comments) on Instagram in order to provide basic data on the operation and utilization of social media by public places such as botanical gardens and arboretums. Methods: A total of 850 posts uploaded to the Instagram account of Kew Gardens from November 6, 2014 to July 3, 2020 were classified using 14 subject codes. Multiple regression analysis was performed to evaluate the user's reaction between the dependent variables ("Likes", "Comments") and the independent variables (14 subject codes). Results: The findings showed that user reactions appear to differ depending on the typology of the content, and "Likes" and "Comments" were presented in independent behavioral reactions. In particular, "close-ups of plants (botanic, macro)," "plant colony (botanic, wide)," "place-specific landscape (building, landscape)," "anniversary" and "information" showed positive impacts on both "Likes" and "Comments"which could lead to electronic word-of-mouth and content sharing. Conclusion: Based on these findings, it can be argued that the typology of a botanical garden's content can be used to determine factors that affect the immediate reactions and enhance engagement with users.

  • This study is an attempt at developing an organizational model for collection development a n.0, pplicable to Korean university libraries at their present stage of development. An emphasis is placed on the discussion of the 'subject a n.0, pproach' as compared to 'functional a n.0, pproach' in collection development work. The case history of Pusan National University Library is extensively used. The proposed collection development model consists of the following elements : - To form a collection development team and to place under the team leader subject bibliographers as follows: Bibliographer for Serials Bibliographer for Humanities Bibliographer for Social Sciences Bibliographer for Sciences and Technologies - Collection development team could operate as a separate department or as part of other departments, i. e., Deputy Director's office, Acquisitions and Processing Department, or Resources Management Department. - Collection development team takes up the responsibility for policyrelated collection work, i. e., budget allocation, evaluation of existing collection, building core collection, preservation, weeding and cooperation. - Designated certified librarians located at the(planned) subject libraries take up the responsibility for selection. Subject bibliographers cooperate with selection librarians and coordinate their work. - Certified librarians at the Acquisitions and Processing Department are assigned subject areas. They operate as acquisitions librarian and processing librarian simultaneously with their assigned subject materials.

  • Death of a Salesman is centered on Willy Loman trying to achieve the American dream and taking his family along for the ride. This paper explores the meaning of his suicide in the work through the Adorno's theory on the individual's reification and commodity by an exchange value in the capitalism and argues that Bourdieu's capital classification shows the cause of his tragic decision. Reification refers to "the structural process whereby the commodity form permeates life in capitalist society." and Adorno called the reification of consciousness an epiphenomenon. The social-psychological level in Adorno's diagnosis serves to demonstrate the effectiveness and pervasiveness of late capitalist exploitation. According to Bourdieu, cultural capital can exist three forms: in the embodied state, in the objectifed state and in the instituionalized state. He states embodied capital is argued to be the most significant influence; however unlike other forms of capital (social, economic, etc.) obtaining embodied capital is largely out of the individuals' control as it is developed from birth. In conclusion, I suggest Death of a Salesman can be interpreted as a text criticizing the internalization of the subject, which is the result of the self-destructive mechanism of the subject in the logic of modern subject formation.

  • Epistemology in which only subject and object of cognition exist can't play a role well in the society. In this paper we analyze structuralism which discusses linguistic and social conditions that make subject of cognition possible and semiologic epistemology's philosophical base with three keywords: subject, structure and discourse. Signification by the signs' relation not object of cognition and construct of subject make meaning of sign in network of signs. The construct exists before subject and subject can exist in the structural order. In understanding and analyzing learning of mathematics, this point of view makes you consider the other problems besides construction by subject.

  • As information systems are introduced in organizations, user attitudes toward IS are crucial factors for the success of such systems. Hence, understanding what affects user attitudes should be a major concern in MIS research. The purpose of this study is to improve the understanding of social influence on IS adoption. Social influence construct is stretched to include four items: subject norm, image, visibility, and voluntariness. Also, this paper examines the roles of two moderators regarding social influence: user characteristics and IT maturity. We could find that 1) social influence has a significant impact on perceived usefulness(PU), perceived ease of use(PEU), and intention, 2) the social influence on PU is more noticeable for knowledge worker than for undergraduate student, and 3) social influence on knowledge worker's PU is stronger for emerging IT(e.g., wireless internet services) than for mature IT(e.g., spreadsheet software).

  • Social services are divided into care services and other support services for the elderly, children and the disabled. These social services are the subject of great policy interest in that they can create two effects at the same time: increase in labor demand for service providers and increase the possibility of long-term accumulation of human capital for service recipients. Therefore, this study aims to confirm the hypothesis according to whether the use of social services affects family relationships and the effects of social service users' psychological adaptation on marital and parent-child relationships even when other related variables are controlled. The final result of this thesis is a regression analysis to find out the effect of psychological adaptation on the family relationship, spouse relationship, and relationship with children of subjects who have experience using social services. -.661, p=0.001), the higher the psychological adaptation, the higher the spouse satisfaction (β=.465, p=0.001) and relationship satisfaction with children (β=.360, p=0.001). In other words, it was found that the more depressed the psychologically, the more negative the relationship with spouse and children.

  • This paper is a philological and epistemological study of the concept of the unconscious envisaged in Saussure. The study investigates whether the unconscious in Saussure can be put to question. Most Saussurian specialists have not as of yet raised any questions on this subject. The researches were simply limited to various comparisons between Saussurian concepts with those of Freud. The paper reconstructs the very concept of the unconscious in the Course in General Linguistics, using Lacan as a mediator between Saussure and Freud. Special attention is given to the linguistic subject who is unconscious about the law of langue, which contrasts it to the conscious of other social subjects and can be observed in the semiotic change of a social system. While not suggesting a hasty comparison between Saussure and Freud the paper draws an epistemological point of convergence. In other words, the paper tries to prove that the descriptive unconsciousness operates and intervene in the paradigmatic function of langue and that the topical unconsciousness operates to the syntagmatic function.

  • This study investigated the utilization and interrelatedness of Scopus subject categories. To conduct this study, major and minor subject categories of journals listed in the 2017 Scopus index were used. The results showed varying degrees of interrelatedness of subject categories. At the major subject category level, the utilization was the highest in Medicine, while Social Sciences showed a greater degree of interrelatedness in comparison to Medicine. Yet, at the minor subject level, 2700 General Medicine was particularly dominant in terms of utilization and interrelatedness. Moreover, co-occurrences of minor subject categories showed varying degrees of interrelatedness between pairs of minor subject categories. Pairs of minor subject categories showed the following characteristics: a) two subject categories having identical or closely identical descriptions, b) two different categories having an interrelationship by subject areas, and c) one category conceptually encompassing another category. Due to varying degrees of utilization and interrelatedness among subject categories, minor subject categories that may greatly influence the major subject categories in conducting research studies should be investigated in detail.
