A Minimized Test Pattern Generation Method for Ground Bounce Effect and Delay Fault Detection (그라운드 바운스 영향과 지연고장을 위한 최소화된 테스트 패턴 생성 기법)

  • An efficient board-level interconnect test algorithm is proposed considering both the ground bounce effect and the delay fault detection. The proposed algorithm is capable of IEEE 1149.1 interconnect test, negative ground bounce effect prevention, and also detects delay faults as well. The number of final test pattern set is not much different with the previous method, even our method enables to detect the delay faults in addition to the abilities the previous method guarantees.

  • A novel quantified method based on requirement analysis of image quality to improve display image quality was proposed. Nowadays, the image quality was limited by the poor understanding of the image quality requirement, which led to the critical factors of image quality could not be controlled during display development. Our method was set up to resolve this problem by clarifying the relationship between the image quality level and the effect factors in image processing. Moreover, the subjective factors were eliminated extremely by the image quality quantification. The method was applied in the RPTV development life cycle and its efficiency was demonstrated.

BRIEF REVIEW OF LATEST DIRECT NUMERICAL SIMULATION ON POOL AND FILM BOILING

  • Despite extensive research efforts, the mechanism of the nucleate boiling phenomena is still not clear. A direct numerical simulation of the boiling phenomena is one of the promising approaches in order to clarify its heat transfer characteristics and discuss their mechanism. Therefore, many DNS procedures have been developed based on recent highly advancing computer technologies. This brief review focuses on the state of the art in direct numerical simulation of the pool boiling phenomena over the past two decades. In this review, the fundamentals of the boiling phenomena and the bubble departure and micro-layer models are briefly introduced, and then the numerical procedures for tracking or capturing interface/surface shape such as the front tracking method, level set method, volume of fluid treatments, and other methods (Lattice Boltzmann method, phase-field method and so on) are briefly reviewed.

  • In this investigation, experimental attempts were made to observe and determine the variations in elastic of the PVC depending on the amounts of MBS added to the mixture, PVC/MBS, and also on the thicknesses of the specimens. An acoustic resonance technique was used for the tests in this investigation. It serves as a method to characterize properties of materials set in vibrational motions, which is initiated by low level stresses generated by externally supplied acoustic energy. Substantial variations were observed in the test results with the addition of the MBS to the PVC. It was found that the magnitudes of elastic constants decrease when MBS rubber was added in the range up to 9 phr and the shape factor effect in torsional vibration is more significant than the shape factor effect in flexural vibration.

  • The storage function method(SFM) is one of hydrologic flood routings which has been used most widely in Korea and Japan. This paper presents a storage function method using multiple model adaptive estimation(MMAE), in which a model set is generated by partitioning storage parameters over feasible range, and each storage function model is estimated, and then the weighted average of them is calculated. Finally, the future runoff is predicted in real time by means of observed data of water level at dam and rainfall. Simulation results applied to actual data show that the proposed method has much better performance than that of conventional SFM.

A smooth boundary scheme-based topology optimization for functionally graded structures with discontinuities

  • This paper presents a novel implicit level set method for topology optimization of functionally graded (FG) structures with pre-existing discontinuities (pre-cracks) using radial basis functions (RBF). The mathematical formulation of the optimization problem is developed by incorporating RBF-based nodal densities as design variables and minimizing compliance as the objective function. To accurately capture crack-tip behavior, crack-tip enrichment functions are introduced, and an eXtended Finite Element Method (X-FEM) is employed for analyzing the mechanical response of FG structures with strong discontinuities. The enforcement of boundary conditions is achieved using the Hamilton-Jacobi method. The study provides detailed mathematical expressions for topology optimization of systems with defects using FG materials. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the efficiency and reliability of the proposed methodology.

  • This study is about constructing L2 pronunciation correction system for L1 speakers using speech technology. Chinese pronunciation system consists of initials, finals and tones. Initials/finals are in segmental level and tones are in suprasegmental level. So different method could be used assessing Korean users' Chinese. The recognition rate of initials is 81.9% and that of finals is 68.7% in the standard acoustic model. Differ from native speech recognition, nonnative speech recognition could be promoted by additional modeling using L2 speakers' speech. As a first step for the those task we analysed nonnative speech and then set a strategy for modeling Korean speakers'.

  • In this paper, active control of vibrational intensity at a reference point in an infinite, elastic plate was discussed. The plate is excised harmonically by a vibrating source, which has a vertical point force. The optimal condition of controller was investigated to minimize the vibrational intensity being transmitted from the vibrating source to a reference point. Hence the method of feedforward control was employed for the control strategy and then the cost function was evaluated to find the optimal control force. Three types of control force (Vertical force, Moment, and Coupling force (a set of vertical force and moment) ) and controller's positions were examined to define the optimal condition of the controller. The vibrational intensity at a reference point was found to be reduced down to a zero level, compared with the uncontrolled case. Especially maximum reduction of vibrational intensity was achieved when the controller was collinearly positioned between a vibrating source and a reference point.

  • Microarray data, obtained from DNA chip technologies, is the measurement of the expression level of thousands of genes in cells or tissues. It is used for gene function prediction or cancer diagnosis based on gene expression patterns. Among diverse methods for data analysis, the Bayesian network represents the relationships among data attributes in the form of a graph structure. This property enables us to discover various relations among genes and the characteristics of the tissue (e.g., the cancer type) through microarray data analysis. However, most of the present microarray data sets are so sparse that it is difficult to apply general analysis methods, including Bayesian networks, directly. In this paper, we harness an efficient structural learning algorithm and data dimensionality reduction in order to analyze microarray data using Bayesian networks. The proposed method was applied to the analysis of real microarray data, i.e., the NC160 data set. And its usefulness was evaluated based on the accuracy of the teamed Bayesian networks on representing the known biological facts.

A Study on FMEDA Process for SIL Certification : A Case Study of a Flame Scanner (SIL 인증을 위한 FMEDA 프로세스 연구 : 화염검출기 사례를 중심으로)

  • In this article, we introduced the estimation method by 'Safety Integrity Level'(SIL) for the criterion of safety assurance and performed a case study on a flame scanner. SIL requires probabilistic evaluation of each set of equipment used to reduce risk in a safety related system. FMEDA(Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis) method is widely used to evaluate the safety levels and provides information on the failure rates and failure mode distributions necessary to calculate a diagnostic coverage factor for a part or a component. Basically, two parameters resulting from FMEDA are used for SIL classification of the device : SFF(Safe Failure Fraction) and PFD(Probability of Failure on Demand). In this case study, it is concluded that the flame scanner is designed to fulfill the condition of SIL 3 in the aspect of SFF and PFD.
