  • This study is to answer the following three questions: (1) What is SPICE? (2) Is it flexible enough to be applied to the small projects such as the ones owned by local companies and government agencies. The standards and models which comprise SPICE (Software Process Improvement and Capability dEtermination) or IS0/IEC 15504 were thoroughly reviewed first Based on the standards, we developed a methodology for the assessment of software processes was developed. Then the methodology is applied for the assessment for three projects in Kwangju area. For this experiment, a university, a district office, and a IT company were selected. Both the development application of the methodology was considered to be successful. As we go through the assessment, we can be convinced that the foundation of the SPICE is very sound. As we stick to the principles of SPICE, the assessment methodology that we developed worked well. The study suggests several implications for the policy making.

  • Serious game played with a computer in accordance with specific rules, that uses entertainment to further government or corporate training, education, health, public policy, and strategic communication objectives. The main goal of a serious game is usually to train or educate users while giving them an enjoyable experience. Serous games are video games with serious purposes such as teaching or training and whose principal aim is education. The major characteristics of serious games involve pedagogy which are all of the activities that educate, train, or instruct the player. Other characteristics of serious games are that they use entertainment principles, creativity and technology to build games that carry out serious purposes. This study is to introduce a serious game for the military training and to describe the elements of game design for developing it.

  • The purpose of this study is to renovate a closed school to a artist studio complex applying sustainable principles and methods. Through the case study, the principle and methods of sustainable renovation is investigated and following strategies are extracted as a frame of renovation. First, atrium space with thermal mass using existing wall is proposed as a public gathering space. Second, light shelves for effective lighting and shading device for protecting and allowing sun light is proposed to renovate existing classroom. Third, double skin system is proposed with reflection pool to activate heating and ventilation for passive solar as well as passive cooling. Finally, simulation programs such as energy-10 and Form-Z is used to confirm the validity of the sustainable design.

  • The half-metallicity and magnetism for compounds of the $N_{(2-0.5n)}O_{0.5}nKCa$ (n = 0~4), which was based on the $d^0$ Heusler half-metals of $N_2KCa$ and $O_2KCa$, were investigated by means of first-principles band calculation method. From the calculated total magnetic moments and the density of states, we found that these three compounds have the half-metallicity. The magnetic moments of the N and O atoms in these compounds were considerably increased compared to those of pure $N_2KCa$ and $O_2KCa$. The K atoms have a large negative magnetic moments. The relationship between the value of magnetic moments for each atom and density of states are discussed.

A First-principles Study on the Electronic Structures and Magnetism of Antiperovskite Ti0.96Co0.02Fe0.02O2 (페로브스카이트 구조를 가지는 Ti0.96Co0.02Fe0.02O2의 전자구조와 자성)

  • We calculated the electronic structures of substituted cobalt nitrides, that is $FeCo_3N$ and $NiCo_3Ni$, by using the all electron fullpotential linearized augmented plane-wave (FLAPW) energy band method, and investigated the influence on the magnetic properties of $Co_4N$ due to the substitution of Co atom located at corner sites by iron and nickel atoms. We found that the magnetic moments of CoII atoms located at the face-center positions in these compounds are almost same to that of $Co_4N$. The magnetic moments of Fe and Ni atoms in $FeCo_3N$ and $NiCo_3Ni$ are 3.086 and $0.795\;{\mu}_B$, and they have the localized nature of magnetism.

  • Recently multiferroic materials have attract great interest for the applications on memorial, spintronic and magneto-electric sensor devices for their spontaneous magneto-electric coupling properties. Research and development of the various kinds of multiferroics are indispensable factor for a new generation multifunctional materials. In this research, mechanical, electronic, magnetic and nonlinear optical properties of La modified $BiLaFe_2O_6$ (BLFO) and Mn modified $Bi_2FeMnO_6$ (BFMO) were studied as new members of multiferroic $BiFeO_3$ (BFO) series by first-principles calculations, and compared with the pure BFO to discover the optimized properties. Our results show that BLFO and BFMO have good mechanical stability as revealed by elastic constants that satisfy the stability criteria. All these compounds exhibit anisotropic and ductile nature. The enhanced properties by La and Mn substitution, such as increased hardness, improved magnetism, decreased band gap and comparable second harmonic generation responses reveal that the new multiferroic members of BLFO and BFMO would get wider application than their BFO counterpart. Our study is expected to providing an appropriate mechanical reference data as guidance for engineering of high efficiency multifunctional devices with the BFO series.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of expression and formal principle of universalism in Architectural Composition. Theorical category is to find universal system with the connection between idea of society and tradition in compositional frame the results were as follows : First it is the pursuit of divine. Through Middle Age and Renaissance universalism of principles in Architectural Composition is appeared a numerical order and human proportion with applying of cosmology. Second it is the pursuit of schema. With the simplicity of formal image it represented to the geometrical form for its clearness. Third it is the pursuit of typology. As to play a role of decisive factor in formal construction type represented the model with abstraction of shape.

  • In this paper we develop textbook 'Modem Algebra' for training mathematics teacher of secondary schools. In order to understand mathematics teacher's viewpoint about desirable textbook 'Modem Algebra' we created a Questionnaire related with curriculum and textbook for training mathematics teacher of secondary schools. We analyze the result of the questionnaire along with recent studies on teacher education and come up with basic principles of developing textbook 'Modern Algebra'. The first version of 'Modern Algebra for Mathematics Teachers' that we have developed based on our study can be found in website 'www.teacheredu.co.kr'.

Magnetic Properties of Fe/Ni Thin Films: First Principles Study

  • This study examined the magnetic properties of ultrathin Fe/Ni films on a Cu(001) surface using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FLAPW) method. The magnetic moment of Fe/Ni films was found to be insensitive to strain. Nevertheless, strain had a significant influence on the magnetization direction. For example, Fe/Ni films showed a thickness-dependent spin reorientation transition in the presence of strain, while the Fe/Ni films grown pseudomorphically on Cu(001) always showed perpendicular magnetization. In addition, the theoretically calculated X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) was examined.

  • Until now, Many studies on the traditional landscape architecture were approached to the interpretation of meanings and symbolism in terms of the traditional ideology and the view of nature. The purpose of this study was to research the principle of form included in the space planning by the analysis of the drawing figure. The principes of figure were presented in the space planning as the field of art. In the pavillion and square pond, drawing figure, based on the principle of simple proportions, shall be assured the value of being as a role of functions for planning first of all. Such principles of the functional aspect are in hormony and balance by proportion and thus a visual and structural aesthetic will be abled to refer.
