Printed Type Half-wavelength Small Loop Antenna (프린트형 반파장 소형 루프 안테나)

  • In this paper, small sized half-wavelength circular loop antenna which attached beneath a visor of helmet is designed and fabricated at the resonant frequency of 449MHz. To reduce the size of the antenna, double series-shorted stubs are inserted inside the loop for practical use of a vacant space of loop inside. Also, It is designed for the printed type to install the helmet easily. The size of antenna on helmet is reduced to 87.75%(diameter : 70mm, height :.36mm) compare with general type antenna(diameter : 200mm height 101mm). The return loss, -10dB bandwidth and gain are -13.2dB, 17.6MHz(3.9%), and -1.78dBd. And, radiation pattern is omni-directional pattern at H-plane. Therefore, it can be seen that the half-wavelength circular loop antenna using double series-shorted stubs is proper structure for the miniaturization and the installed antenna of the helmet.

Compact Broad Band-pass Filter of Parallel Coupled Structure with SIR (SIR을 이용한 평행결합 선로의 소형 광대역 대역통과 필터)

  • In this paper, the reduced size of broad bandpass filter with parallel coupled line structure is presented. This proposed filter can control bandwidth of narrow to broadband by adjusting the coupling coefficient. The conventional filter is operated with a narrow band. If a higher bandwidth is desired than the conventional narrow bandwidth, it is hard to realize due to the coupling coefficient between feeding line and resonator. In this paper, to overcome this limitation, a proposed bandpass filter is designed with reduced size due to SIR (Stepped Impedance Resonator), U-shaped open stub with hair-pin and vertical-type structure than conventional one, and it has characteristics of adjusting bandwidth freely as per quantity of coupling coefficient. The proposed bandpass filter that, experimental results of insertion and return losses are 0.42 dB and 24.5 dB with bandwidth of 60 % at the center frequency of 5.8 GHz, respectively.

A Study on the Design of the Low Noise Amplifier for 2.4GHz wireless LAN using LICC Passive Components (LTCC 적층소자를 이용한 2.4GHz 무선랜 대역 LNA의 설계에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a small size, $7{\times}6\;mm^2$, Low Noise Amplifier(LNA) using LTCC process was fabricated with multi-layer structure for 2.4GHz wireless LAN. The measured results demonstrate that the bandwidth is 130 MHz, and the operating frequency is from 2.39GHz to 2.52GHz. The power gain is above 7.3 dB in the operating frequency range and the gain flatness is 0.5 dB. The maximum S11 is -4 dB and the maximum S22 is -7.5 dB. The noise figure is less than 1.83 dB. The measured power gain, S11 and S22 were had poorer performance than the simulation results. The reason for this discrepancy is that the input and output matching was not performed exactly. However, the noise figure of the LTCC low noise amplifier is better than simulation result. It is found that it is possible to fabricate a LTCC low noise amplifier in a small size.

  • The motion compensated coding (MCC) technique, which exploits the temporal redundancies in the moving images with the motion estimation technique,is one of the most popular techniques currently used. Recently, a variable block size(VBS) motion estimation scheme has been utilized to improve the performance of the motion compensted coding. This scheme allows large blocks to the used when smaller blocks provide little gain, saving rates for areas containing more complex motion. Hence, a new VBS motion estimation scheme with a hierarchical structure is proposed in this paper, in order to combine the motion vector coding technique efficiently. Topmost level motion vector, which is obtained by the gain/cost motion estimation technique with selective motion prediction method, is always transmitted. Thus, the hierarchical VBS motion estimation scheme can efficiently exploit the redundancies among neighboring motion vectors, providing an efficient motion vector encoding scheme. Also, a restricted search with respect to the topmost level motion vector enables more flexible and efficient motion estimation for the remaining lower level blocks. Computer simulations on the high resolution image sequence show that, the VBS motion estimation scheme provides a performance improvement of 0.6~0.7 dB, in terms of PSNR, compared to the fixed block size motion estimation scheme.

  • One widely used algorithm for image recognition and pattern detection is the convolution neural network (CNN). To efficiently handle convolution operations, which account for the majority of computations in the CNN, we use hardware accelerators to improve the performance of CNN applications. In using these hardware accelerators, the CNN fetches data from the off-chip DRAM, as the massive computational volume of data makes it difficult to derive performance improvements only from memory inside the hardware accelerator. In other words, data communication between off-chip DRAM and memory inside the accelerator has a significant impact on the performance of CNN applications. In this paper, a simulator for the CNN is developed to analyze the main memory or DRAM access with respect to the size of the on-chip memory or global buffer inside the CNN accelerator. For AlexNet, one of the CNN architectures, when simulated with increasing the size of the global buffer, we found that the global buffer of size larger than 100kB has 0.8x as low a DRAM access count as the global buffer of size smaller than 100kB.

An Algorithm for Estimating Ep/No of UWB Signals (UWB 신호의 Ep/No 추정 알고리즘)

  • Recently, the UWB (ultra wide-band) wireless communication technology, which provides high data transmission and is capable of linearly trading between throughput and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), has drawn much attention for short-range wireless networks. Fully exploiting its notable features and minimizing its interference to coexisting other systems require the knowledge of SNR's at receivers In this paper, we propose an algorithm for estimating the pulse energy to noise ratio Ep/No of UWB signal with utilization of outputs from a correlator at a receiver, and evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm through computer simulation. According to simulation results, the maximum standard deviation is about 1 13 dB with a block size of 500. Except for Ep/No=O and 2 dB cases with a block size of 500, no errors greater than 3 dB were observed in all the remaining experiments. Generally speaking, it improves as the true Ep/No, increases and as the block size increases A notable feature of the proposed algorithm is that it does not reduce the effective throughput because the estimation process does not require sending additional training signal of any specific format.

  • In this paper, we discuss the differences between an ordinary B-tree and B-tree implemented by NTFS. There are lots of distinctions between the two B-tree, if not understand the distinctions fully, it is difficult to utilize and analyze artifacts of NTFS. Not much, actually, is known about the implementation of NTFS, especially B-tree index for directory management. Several items of B-tree features are performed that includes a node size, minimum number of children, root node without children, type of key, key sorting, type of pointer to child node, expansion and reduction of node, return of node. Furthermore, it is emphasized the fact that NTFS use B-tree structure not B+structure clearly.

  • In the paper, the influence of different particle size $D:D>125{\mu}m$, $D<50{\mu}m$ and between on magnetic properties of a standardized dielectromagnetic is presented. The tests were taken at frequencies of between 50Hz, and 500Hz. Presented in the paper results provide important materials property data to allow the selection of the most appropriate dielectromagnetic particle size for different applications.
