  • ProfiBus provides real-time data communication among field devices in the EMU(Electrical Multiple Unit) and TCMS(Train Control Monitoring System). This paper presents an adapt to Train Communication Network for EMU using ProfiBus DP(Decentralized Periphery) method, which is the layer 2 DDLM (Direct Data Link Mapper) protocol of ProfiBus.

A Study on the Direct connection Service Effectiveness in Gyeongbu(KTX) (경부선(KTX) 직결운행 도입 효과에 관한 연구)

  • This study suggests direct connection service which has advantage of high-speed operation of KTX and access convenience of general train, and Pre-feasibility studies on the direct connection service. And analyze transportation demand change by the method as follows; It is to analyze the demand change of before and after KTX operation by previous transport data of Gyeongbu line, and calculate the coefficient of utilization using triggering demand by opening the 2nd phase of Gyeongbu line (Dongdaegu${\sim}$Busan). Through Pre-feasibility analysis, reduction $70{\sim}100$ minutes of train travel time and total revenue will increase about $100 thousand per day. Also, there will be environment-friendly effects of decreasing $CO_2$ emissions. But, Direct connection service need to highly cost ; Buying and Operation cost of KTX train. Therefore, we will be get more correct result of Pre-feasibility study on direct connection service, if there are concrete on buying the KTX action plans.

  • In order to get the maintenance work for the normal operation of rail vehicles made safe maintenance training, which looked suffered direct physical train maintenance environment, gain experience to get out foster the practical skills, but experience the real maintenance in operational problems the maintenance procedures followed are difficult to be. So it can gain experience and knowledge of the actual maintenance work in safe conditions if you apply a simulation experience in a similar environment as possible to the actual train maintenance training can also reduce operational training costs. For a description of the current domestic and simulation programs of the railway sector it has been operating in overseas and is designed to train intensive training, maintenance and maintenance-related information is scarce situation. In this study, the contents of the theory of educational technology for effective training of train maintenance elements exhibit theory, theory of learning situations, designed to train maintenance training simulation through a previous study that investigated the problem-based learning theory.

  • The determination of the direct kinematics of the parallel mechanism is a difficult problem but has to be solved for any practical use. This paper presents the efficient formulation of the direct kinematics for double parallel robot arm. The robot arm consists of two parallel mechanism, which generate positional and orientational motions, respectively. These motions are decoupled by a passive central axis which is composed of four revolute joints and one prismatic joint. For a set of given lengths of linear actuators, the direct kinematics will find the joint displacements of th central axis from geometric constraints in each parallel mechanism. Then the joint displacements will be converted into the position and the orientation of the end effector of the robot arm. The proposed formulation is decoupled and compacted so that it will be implemented as a real-time direct kinematics. With the proposed formulation, we analyze the motion of the double parallel robot and show its characteristics. Specially, we investigate the workspace in terms of positional space as well as orientational space.

Evaluation of Behavior of Direct Fixation Track and Track Girder Ends on Yeongjong Grand Bridge (영종대교 강직결 궤도 및 종형거더 단부의 거동 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of train-induced end rotation of simple supported track girder on the performance of a direct fixation track system (DFTS) in Yeongjong grand bridge. In this study, the influences of deflection of a DFTS and track girder on dynamic rail-track girder interaction forces for the track girder ends currently employed in airport express lines were assessed by performing field tests using actual vehicles running along the service lines. Therefore, the dynamic displacement of rail and track girder and the fastener stress on the center and ends sections of DFTS were measured for two different trains (AREX and KTX) running in Yeongjong grand bridge. A three-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA) model using the time-history function based on the design wheel load was used to predict the train-induced track and track girder displacement, and the FEA and field test results were compared. The analytical results reproduced the experimental results well within about 3-7% difference in the values. Therefore, the FEA model of DFTS on track girder is considered to provide sufficiently reliable FEA results in the investigation of the behavior of DFTS. Using the analytical and experimental results, the influence of train-induced end rotation of simple supported track girder on the interaction behavior of rail and track girder installed on a simple supported track girder ends, i.e., upward displacement of rail-track girder and the fastener stress, was investigated. It was found that the train-induced end rotation effect of track girder was not significantly affected by the upward displacement of rails and the fastener stresses of track girder ends. Further, the interaction behavior of rail and track girder were similar to or less than that of the general railway bridge deck ends, nevertheless the vertical displacement of track was higher than that of conventional DFTS on the general railway bridge. From the results, the dynamic responses of the DFTS on track girder ends were not significantly affected by the safety and stability of DFTS ends.

  • Railway signaling system in a rapid transit using the ATC system the approved a speed limit to a train and a part of signaling system in a metro approved a distance which is possible to move. Referring to the way of transmitting train control information, there are the one transmitting it to the on-board system of a train using the direct track, the another transmitting it establishing an instrument, and the other transmitting an instrument by a railway track. The one is the method using the direct track as a conductor for composing the part of the track and attaining the information controlling a train by transmitting a signal to the track. It is used for the high-speed railway and the subway. The method using the track attains information by transmitting it to returned information, and the on-board system of a train attains it by magnetic coupling. Because many reinforcing bars on the concrete slab track are used, interaction between a rail and a reinforcing bar that is not produced on ballast track is made. Due to the interaction, the electric characteristic of rail is changed. In the current paper, we numerically computed the coupling coefficient between the rail and the reinforcing bar based on the concrete slab track throughout the model related to the rail and the reinforcing bar using the concrete slab track that is used in the second interval of the Gyeongbu high-speed railway, and we defined the coupling coefficient not changed in the electric characteristic of rail in the condition that there is no interaction between the rail and the reinforcing bar.

  • TETRA communication system is very versatile system which can transmit voice + data and packet data optimized. Direct mode operation permits to connect between mobiles when mobile stain is out of coverage of networks. It can be more secure communication channel for railway signaling systems. Railway signaling systems use many of wayside signal equipment, which require many maintenance efforts and budget. Many railway authorities want to reduce and replace the wayside equipment. Radio based signaling systems are one of candidate for replacing the conventional signaling systems. The radio based signaling systems can replace track circuit and wayside signal. The radio systems permit to connect between control centers and trains. The radio systems have to ensure high quality of the connectivity more or equal to the existed track circuits. We studied the application of TETRA systems for railway radio systems for bridging between train control centers and trains. We provide an operation scenario for radio based train control system to ensure the safety require to the existed trains control system and satisfied the existed operational availability. We showed the data transmission speed, maximum bit error rate, and data coding for the radio-based signal system using TETRA systems.

  • To stop the train safely within the limited traveling distance and reduce its speed to the desired speed, it is necessary to guarantee the correct braking force. Presently, most trains have electric propulsion system and have adopted combined electrical and mechanical(friction) braking system. The friction coefficient between brake disc and pad is an important parameter in determining the mechanical braking force. In general, friction coefficient data of braking material have been taken through the dynamo-test in a laboratory. This study have suggested two methodologies that can measure friction coefficient of braking material on the train's actual operating condition. The first is the direct method; measure the brake force and the clamping force applied on the mechanical brake by using strain gauges installed at the brake disk, and then calculate it. The second method is the indirect method; obtain the friction coefficient by using the train load and the equivalent brake force which is deducted the longitudinal force, such as resistance to motion, gradient resistance and curved resistance, from the inertia force applied to the train.

  • Railway construction in the random vibration natural phenomena, as well as a relatively regular train loads for dynamic loads, such as a usability and safety should be ensured. Vibration due to train loads and seismic vibrations caused by wind compared to the typically very small in size, rather than the safety of the structure affects the usability. Recently in the downtown area, ground and underground facilities, such as a permanent facility that may cause excessive vibration increases, associated with the construction of these transportation facilities on ground vibrations of structures has been increasing concern and complaint. More recently, high-speed train vibration and noise due to furnace is increasing. In order to solve this problem, such as soundproof considering several feet, but by applying the vibration and noise reduction measures insufficient for the study is Free. In this study, track structure, track, and the inside of the building to support the system, the different forms of neurological history and share about the history cheonanahsan high-speed rail, if passed by the bus stop on the train loads of noise, and the history of interior noise and vibration measurement / analysis of measurement results to assess the relative comparison with the relevant provisions were reviewed. Based on this history, future plans for the design of the bridge to reflect the results of a study is intended to provide information. Waiting for the analysis of vibration and noise reduction, cheonanahsan history passed quietly in the train, on average, appeared to 67.53dB and 65.41dB nervous week on average, were measured with the history.   • In This paper, we have analyzed the power spectrum of DS-TH Ulhawideband (Direct Sequence-Time Hopping UWB) system which used pseudo-noise (PN) code. The DS-TH UWB system proposed in this paper multiplies the information signal with PN code to construct pulse train with random pattern and then the chips in pulse train are bundled into several groups to map to the particular value. The (+)/(-) pulse is tented in the time slot of frame by comparing a particular value with timing information that was stored in the lookup table. Thus, the energy spark (Comb Line) which is generated certainly in convantional system can be suppressed efficiently by PN code. And we knew that the proposed DS-TH UWB System even could have very smoothing power spectrum ctaracteristic without applying high speed Time-Hopping code.
