In these days, many countries carry out many renewable energy policies to increase the renewable energy portion and to reduce the GHG(Green House Gas). In Korea, RPS(Renewable Portfolio Standards) focused on over 500MW power producers is conducting. And they are using the bio-fuel oil to meet their RPS quota. The oil is a mixture of animal and vegetable fat or fatty acid ester of them and should satisfy some specifications to use the power generation such as viscosity, pour point, acid number. Depends on the raw materials, quality characteristics of power bio-fuel oil are changed. By adding the power bio-fuel oil, pour point, density, sulfur content and viscosity are decreased and acid number, iodine number, oxygen content are increased. In this study, we test the quality characteristic of power bio-fuel oil and the property changes by the blending ratio of power bio-fuel oil & conventional fuel oil.
To design and construct a moving bed stoker incinerator for incineration treatment of the domestic oil fly ash, operating condition and moving bed area of incinerator were determined by performing incinerate experiment of the oil fly ash in the muffle furnace which simulates moving bed stoker incinerator in all conditions. Incineration process of the oil fly ash could be divided into 3 stages, every stage needs the appropriate operating condition for effective incineration. The optimum content of water in the heavy oil fly ash was found to be 20 wt% to prevent the ash from flying and reduce the volume. Science combustion rate of oil fly ash depends on the oxygen content, the incinerator must have a equipment to control the oxygen content in the combustion air. The optimum temperature was $750{\sim}800^{\circ}C$ in order to prevent adhesion to the stocker and evaporation of metal compounds of low melting point. Uniform combustion reaction and acceleration of combustion rate required agitation during the combustion of oil fly ash. The incineration rate was $12.53kg/m^2hr$ and the working area of moving bed incinerator was found to be $60m^2$ to incinerate 18 tons of oil fly ash per day.

Bio-heavy oil for power generation is a product made by mixing animal fat, vegetable oil and fatty acid methyl ester or its residues and is being used as steam heavy fuel(B-C) for power generation in Korea. However, if the fuel supply system of the fuel pump, the flow pump, the injector, etc., which is transferred to the boiler of the generator due to the composition of the raw material of the bio-heavy oi, causes abrasive wear, it can cause serious damage. Therefore, this study evaluates the fuel characteristics and lubricity properties of various raw materials of bio-heavy oil for power generation, and suggests fuel composition of biofuel for power generation to reduce frictional wear of generator. The average value of lubricity (HFRR abrasion) for bio-heavy oil feedstocks for power generation is $137{\mu}m$, and it varies from $60{\mu}m$ to $214{\mu}m$ depending on the raw materials. The order of lubricity is Oleo pitch> BD pitch> CNSL> Animal fat> RBDPO> PAO> Dark oil> Food waste oil. The average lubricity for the five bio-heavy oil samples is $151{\mu}m$ and the distribution is $101{\mu}m$ to $185{\mu}m$. The order of lubricity is Fuel 1> Fuel 3> Fuel 4> Fuel 2> Fuel 5. Bio-heavy oil samples (average $151{\mu}m$) show lower lubricity than heavy oil C ($128{\mu}m$). It is believed that bio-heavy oil for power generation is composed of fatty acid material, which is lower in paraffin and aromatics content than heavy oil(B-C) and has a low viscosity and high acid value, resulting in inhibition of the formation of lubricating film by acidic component. Therefore, in order to reduce friction and abrasion, it is expected to increase the lubrication of fuel when it contains more than 60% Oleo pitch and BD pitch as raw materials of bio-heavy oil for power generation.

Recently, the government is actively promoting the RFS(Renewable Fuel Standards) and RPS(Renewable Portfolio Standards). Therefore, the importance of renewable energy fuel is being highlighted more than ever. Now is the time required active research in Korea. Since power bio-fuel oil demonstration project is underway dissemination to meet RPS quota. In this study, we investigated emission performance to make the performance standard draft of bio-fuel oil. In addition, the quality properties of the fuel oil and bio-oil, and after combustion in industrial boilers and compared the amount of exhaust gas. It was reduced emissions of bio-oil in industrial boilers due to bio-fuel properties as compare with fuel oil.
Each of fuel consumption per hour was measured at the 320 MW and 380 MW generator output while changing mixing ratio of bio fuel oil to 50%, 80% and 100%. Fuel consumption per hour was increased from 11.0% to 20.4% as mixing ratio of bio fuel oil was changed from 50% to 100% at the 320 MW generator output comparing with fuel consumption per hour in case of bunker-C oil single firing. Fuel consumption per hour was also increased from 12.0% to 21.1% as mixing ratio of bio fuel oil was changed from 50% to 100% at the generator output 380 MW. Furthermore, it was confirmed that plant efficiency was decreased as mixing ratio of bio fuel oil was increased from 50% to 100% as a result that plant efficiency was calculated using the measured fuel consumption per hour, the generator output and the gross heating value.

In this study, the characteristics of the SRF (Solid Refuse Fuel) prepared by blending each of the additives (citrus peel, waste wood, coal) in the heavy oil fly ash, evaluating the heavy oil fly ash recyclability. Recycling SRFs were fabricated by pellet extruding method after blending the heavy oil fly ash and additives based on 30% moisture content. As a result, the formability of the SRFs was excellent under condition of blending heavy oil fly ash with coal or citrus peel and the highest calorific value was 4,274 kcal/kg at heavy oil fly ash mixed with coal. Therefore, the formability and calorific value were improved when the heavy oil fly ash was mixed with coal(20 wt%) at 30% moisture content. From these results, the applicability of SRFs with additives was confirmed by using the heavy oil fly ash from J thermal power plant.

As it carry out RPS(Renewable Portfolio Standards), power producers are using the power bio-fuel oil to meet their RPS quota. In this study, we test the quality characteristics of raw materials for power bio-fuel oil and the property changes of power bio-fuel oil by the kind of feedstocks. The power bio-fuel oil and feedstocks were analyzed for item of quality standard such as acid number, viscosity and metal contents. And it was analyzed for composition distribution by FT-IT and HPLC. Such as low priced palm oil series has high acid number and ash contents due to high free-fatty acid and metal contents. And by-product of biodiesel have a tendency of high viscosity. The fuel properties of power bio-fuel oil, such as viscosity, acid number and metal contents are correlated with the constituent and the mixing ratio of the feedstocks.
We tried to measure the fixed quantity of $Ni^{2+}$ion among the metals which were eluted by distilled water from the Fly Ash Leach Liquor(FALL) with a spectrophotometric method. In addition, we researched absorbance values which had different contained quantity of $V^{3+}$ion in contrast with $Ni^{2+}$ion ppm to find out the influence of the $V^{3+}$ion existed in the FALL on the spectrophotometric fixed quantity of $Ni^{2+}$ion. As a result, when $V^{3+}$ ion has below 50% of amount of $Ni^{2+}$ion, the fixed quantity of $Ni^{2+}$ion among the FALL was able to be confirmed by spectrophotometry.
The extration of vanadium and nickel from heavy oil fly ash was carried out by using water ans sulfuric acid as leaching agent. In the leaching with water, vanadium and nickel were extracted 86% and 88% respectively under pulp density of 25g/l, room temperature and leaching time of 60 minutes, but extraction of vanadium decreased with increasing leaching time. Addition of oxidant decreased the extractions of vanadium and nickel, and roasting of fly ash at temperature higher than $300^{\circ}C$ before water leaching decreased the vanadium extraction to about zero. In the leaching with 1N sulfuric acid, the extractions of vanadium and nickel both increased to 96% and the addition of oxidant did not affect the extraction of these metals.

Aqueous thermal liquefaction of rice, barley, wheat, and rapeseed straws was investigated to compare the amount of heavy oil with catalysts such as $K_2CO_3$, NaOH and KOH in the reaction temperature at $320^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes. The reaction was carried out in a 5,000ml liquefaction system with dispenser and external electrical furnace. Raw materials (160g), 2,000ml of distilled water and 10% (wt/wt) of catalyst to plant residue were fed into the reactor. It was observed that the maximum heavy oil yield was about 29% from the feeding stock, barley straw, with addition of KOH. The caloric values of crude oil from different crop residues were ranged from 55% to 66% relative to the raw materials depend on crop residue. It was appeared that its maximum calorific value from wheat straw was approximately 6190 kcal/kg.
