Design of an 8051 Microcontroller With Application-Specific Instructions and I/O Ports for Data Transmission (데이터 전송을 위한 전용 명령어 및 I/O 포트를 탑재한 8051 마이크로콘트롤러의 설계)

  • In this paper, an 8051 microcontroller with application-specific instructions and I/O ports for data transmission is designed. The designed microcontoller includes two UART ports and one SMBus port to control external devices and to transmit data with them. Application-specific instruction is developed and added to the instruction set to exploit these I/O ports. So the designed microcontroller can perform multi-device control and multi-byte transmission. Also, it can reduce the code size of the application program. Especially, the designed microcontroller does not stall and can execute other programs during data transmission, which significantly increases its efficiency. Synthesized in 0.18 um technology, the area overhead due to application-specific instructions was negligible. Operations of all instructions and I/O ports were verified to run correctly on a FPGA board.

  • 본 논문에서는 TCP/IP 기반에서 JPEG 변환과 마이크로프로세서 8051을 이용 원거리에 있는 Device를 PDA로 제어하는 영상감시 시스템에 대해 연구하였다. 우선 서버는 카메라를 이용하여 영상을 획득하고 획득한 영상에 대해 JPEG Encoding을 한 후, 인터넷을 통해 PDA로 전송한다. PDA는 수신한 JPEG Data를 가지고 Decoding을 하고 사용자에게 영상을 보여주게 된다. Device는 카메라, 서보모터, 마이크로프로세서 8051로 구성되어 있으며 8051에 의해서 서보모터를 제어해서 카메라의 방향을 변경한다. 사용자는 서버에서 보내는 영상을 PDA로 수신 실시간으로 영상을 감시한다. 그리고 용 원거리에 있는 서버에 제어신호를 보내 자신이 원하는 방향으로 카메라의 위치를 제어 할 수 있는 시스템을 구현하였다.

Instruction-level Power Model for Asynchronous Processor (명령어 레벨의 비동기식 프로세서 소비 전력 모델)

  • This paper presents the new instruction-level power model for an asynchronous processor. Until now, the various power models for estimating the power dissipation of embedded processor in SoC are proposed. Since all of them are target to the synchronous processors, the accuracy is questionable when we apply those power models to the asynchronous processor in SoC. To solve this problem, we present new power model for an asynchronous processor by reflecting the behavioral features of an asynchronous circuit. The proposed power model is verified using an implementation of asynchronous processor, A8051. The simulation results of the proposed model is compared with the measurement result of gate-level synthesized A8051. The proposed power model shows the accuracy of 90.7% and the simulation time for estimation the power consumption was reduced to 1,900 times.

  • Radioactive materials need to control, measure and protect precisely the overflow because they are dangerous. In this paper, GM-counter type radiation detector system, that can precisely measure the quantity of radioactivity using improved counting program is designed and program that can store and transfer the counted data is studied. The manufactured system, counting system of GM-counter type radiation detector, and counter program can be utilized to measure them at various methods in an atomic power plant and research centers.

  • 본 논문에서는 차세대 통신 플랫폼을 위한 PCI 익스프레스의 전송계층과 데이터 연결계층의 모든 기능을 지원하는 PCI 익스프레스 컨트롤러를 설계하였다. 설계된 컨트롤러를 효과적으로 제어하기 위해 8051 마이크로프로세서를 이용하였다. 또한, 본 논문에서는 PCI 익스프레스 컨트롤러와 8051 마이크로프로세서의 통합 검증을 위한 방법으로 벡터 생성 부분, 테스트 벤치, 그리고 메모리로 구성된 테스트 벤치를 하나의 가상 마이크로프로세서로 가정하였다. 그리고 PCI 익스프레스의 모든 프로토콜을 지원할 수 있는 어셈블리 수준의 명령어들을 테스트 벤치에 적용되도록 하였다. 특히 일반적인 기본 동작 검증과 설계 기반 검증에서 찾지 못한 특수 경우의 에러를 찾기 위한 검증을 위해 랜덤 검증 환경 및 테스트 파라미터를 정의 하였다. 제안된 검증 환경과 명령어를 통해 설계된 PCI 컨트롤러의 검증 결과 랜덤 테스트 검증을 통해 효과적으로 오류를 찾을 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 Home Automation을 위한 하드웨어와 제어용 프로그램의 개발에 목적을 두었다. Home Automation에 쓰인 하드웨어 부분에서는 8051 마이크로 컨트롤러를 사용했다. 본 논문에서 가장 중요한 부분은 플랜트끼리의 통신 알고리즘이며, 일반 가정용 IBM PC의 USB 포트를 이용한 화상 전달방법이다. 화상 전달에 필요한 DLL부분은 C++로 제작되었으며 전체적인 제어용 프로그램은 비주얼툴인 Visual Basic으로 제작하였다. 하드웨어는 각각의 플랜트에 따라 각각의 구동부가 있으며 몇몇 구동부에는 다중 통신을 위한 8051 마이크로 프로세서가 있다. 이 모든 장치의 데이터 흐름을 알 수 있도록 PC를 통해 디스플레이하며 PC와 직렬 통신을 통해 이 모든 것이 이루어진다.

  • Upon the changes of human life style due to the distribution of ultra-high speed internet services and the development of high-tech information equipment, the idea of necessity fer home networking has been widely accepted. Thus, "embedded ethernet module" was designed in this paper for the stabilization of home networking by using 8051 MCU, Hardwired TCP/IP (W3150A). By executing remote software on established simple web-server on the target machine, controlling electric equipment became available elsewhere. With this module, establishing a low-cost home automations system would become possible in a ubiquitous society.

  • In biometric and biomedical applications, a special transporting mechanism must be designed for the ${\mu}$TAS (micro total analysis system) to move samples and reagents through the microchannels that connect the unit procedure components in the system. An important issue for this miniaturization and integration is microfluid management technique, i.e., microfluid transportation, metering, and mixing. In view of this, this study presents an optimal fuzzy sliding-mode control (OFSMC) design based on the 8051 microprocessor and implementation of a complete microfluidic manipulated system implementation of biochip system with a pneumatic pumping actuator, a feedback-signal photodiodes and flowmeter. The new microfluid management technique successfully improved the efficiency of molecular biology reaction by increasing the velocity of the target nucleic acid molecules, which increases the effective collision into the probe molecules as the target molecules flow back and forth. Therefore, this hybridization chip was able to increase hybridization signal 6-fold and reduce non-specific target-probe binding and background noises within 30 minutes, as compared to conventional hybridization methods, which may take from 4 hours to overnight. In addition, the new technique was also used in DNA extraction. When serum existed in the fluid, the extraction efficiency of immobilized beads with solution flowing back and forth was 88-fold higher than that of free-beads.

  • This paper is mainly concerned with the state of the practical developments of a constants PWM bridge type resonants DC-DC suitable converter for Nd:YAG Laser with a Microprocessor. (PIC16C54 & 8051) The use of IGBT power supply with feedback control of flashLamp currents imparts a advantages to Nd:YAG Laser for materials processing. these include the alility to tailor the pulseshape and modify pulse parameters on a pulse- by pulse basis. And Correct choice of pulseshape can enhance the repeatability of the process. as higher power IGBT became available, act ive pulseforming power supplies will find greater user in deep hole drilling machine By Using certain control tecniques, utililized in designing Pic16c54 from Microchip technology and Intel 8051, also Mornitoring from Microsoft Visual Basic 5, And it allowed us to designed and fabricate ahigh repel it ion rate and high power(HRHP) pulsed Nd:YAG laser system, As a result of that, the current pulsewidth could be contort led 200s to 350s(step 50s) , and the pulse repetition rate could be adjusted 500pps to 1150pps. In addition, in the case of one laser head consisting of a Nd:YAG laser rod and two flashlamps , the maximum laser output of 240w was produced at the condition of 350s and 1150pps, and that of about 480w was generated at the same condition when two laser heads were arranged in cascade.

  • In order to support ultrawide-band signal generation for low rate WPAN, several types of signal generation mechanisms are suggested such as Chaos, Impluse, and Chirp signals by the activity of IEEE 802.15.4a. The communication system applied chaos theory may have ultrawide-band characteristics with spread spectrum and immunity from multipath effect. In order to use the advantage of chaotic signal generation, we introduce the system implementation of communication and networking systems with the chaos UWB signal. This system may be composed of mainly three parts in hardware architecture : RF transmission with chaotic signal generation, signal receiver using amplifiers and filters, and 8051 & FPGA unit. The most difficult part is to implement the chaotic signal generator and build transceiver with it. The implementation of the system is devidced into two parts i.e. RF blocks and digital blocks with amplifiers, filters, ADC, 8051 processor, and FPGA. In this paper, we introduce the system block diagram for chaotic communications. Mainly the RF block is important for the system to have good performance based on the chaotic signal generator. And the main control board functions for controlling RF blocks, processing Tx and Rx data, and networking in MAC layer.
