제조부문과 사무간접/서비스부문의 6시그마 프로세스 개선활동 비교분석 (A Comparative Analysis between Manufacturing and Transactional/Service Processes of Six Sigma Quality Improvement)

  • There are big differences in six sigma projects between manufacturing processes and transactional/service processes. This paper analyzed the differences between the two areas by examining 18 six sigma case studies in Korean companies. To characterize six sigma case studies, step-by-step questions and check criteria were developed based on 12 step DMAIC methodology. On the basis of those characterized data, the differences between two areas were analyzed. Significant differences were found in the number of CTQs, validation of measurement systems, methods to determine improvement objectives, the methods to elicit improvement plans and types of control systems. The most significant difference was that statistical tools were widely used in manufacturing processes, but qualitative tools were used in transactional/service processes during improvement phase.

  • Goal of "Single PPM Quality Innovation Movement" is to achieve perfect quality through participation of all members in the production line to achieve zero defects. Six Sigma has been used by many leading corporations as a tool for Management Innovation. Recently, the number of small and medium sized companies implementing Six Sigma has increased. Therefore, this research introduces the case of "S" company which utilized Six Sigma and Single PPM together to effectively implement Single PPM Quality Innovation Movement. This paper describes issues identified during the Single PPM Quality Innovation Movement implementation and also suggests improvement plans.

  • Since six sigma program was first introduced in late 1990's, it has been evolved in Korea. The number of six sigma adopting company are getting increased and diversify manufacturing, service, government. In these days, the rapid innovation of internet technology change the media industry's game rule. This paper is concerned with a six sigma applications to internet media portal service company. The main focus of this study is to introduce an empirical case study on the implementation of DMAIC procedures for internet media portal service company.

6 시그마와 총 오차 허용범위의 개발에 대한 연구 (A Study of Six Sigma and Total Error Allowable in Chematology Laboratory)

  • Those specifications of the CLIA analytical tolerance limits are consistent with the performance goals in Six Sigma Quality Management. Six sigma analysis determines performance quality from bias and precision statistics. It also shows if the method meets the criteria for the six sigma performance. Performance standards calculates allowable total error from several different criteria. Six sigma means six standard deviations from the target value or mean value and about 3.4 failures per million opportunities for failure. Sigma Quality Level is an indicator of process centering and process variation total error allowable. Tolerance specification is replaced by a Total Error specification, which is a common form of a quality specification for a laboratory test. The CLIA criteria for acceptable performance in proficiency testing events are given in the form of an allowable total error, TEa. Thus there is a published list of TEa specifications for regulated analytes. In terms of TEa, Six Sigma Quality Management sets a precision goal of TEa/6 and an accuracy goal of 1.5 (TEa/6). This concept is based on the proficiency testing specification of target value +/-3s, TEa from reference intervals, biological variation, and peer group median mean surveys. We have found rules to calculate as a fraction of a reference interval and peer group median mean surveys. We studied to develop total error allowable from peer group survey results and CLIA 88 rules in US on 19 items TP, ALB, T.B, ALP, AST, ALT, CL, LD, K, Na, CRE, BUN, T.C, GLU, GGT, CA, phosphorus, UA, TG tests in chematology were follows. Sigma level versus TEa from peer group median mean CV of each item by group mean were assessed by process performance, fitting within six sigma tolerance limits were TP ($6.1{\delta}$/9.3%), ALB ($6.9{\delta}$/11.3%), T.B ($3.4{\delta}$/25.6%), ALP ($6.8{\delta}$/31.5%), AST ($4.5{\delta}$/16.8%), ALT ($1.6{\delta}$/19.3%), CL ($4.6{\delta}$/8.4%), LD ($11.5{\delta}$/20.07%), K ($2.5{\delta}$/0.39mmol/L), Na ($3.6{\delta}$/6.87mmol/L), CRE ($9.9{\delta}$/21.8%), BUN ($4.3{\delta}$/13.3%), UA ($5.9{\delta}$/11.5%), T.C ($2.2{\delta}$/10.7%), GLU ($4.8{\delta}$/10.2%), GGT ($7.5{\delta}$/27.3%), CA ($5.5{\delta}$/0.87mmol/L), IP ($8.5{\delta}$/13.17%), TG ($9.6{\delta}$/17.7%). Peer group survey median CV in Korean External Assessment greater than CLIA criteria were CL (8.45%/5%), BUN (13.3%/9%), CRE (21.8%/15%), T.B (25.6%/20%), and Na (6.87mmol/L/4mmol/L). Peer group survey median CV less than it were as TP (9.3%/10%), AST (16.8%/20%), ALT (19.3%/20%), K (0.39mmol/L/0.5mmol/L), UA (11.5%/17%), Ca (0.87mg/dL1mg/L), TG (17.7%/25%). TEa in 17 items were same one in 14 items with 82.35%. We found out the truth on increasing sigma level due to increased total error allowable, and were sure that the goal of setting total error allowable would affect the evaluation of sigma metrics in the process, if sustaining the same process.

  • 제조업체의 성공은 고객의 요구를 파악하는 능력과 이들 요구를 만족시키면서, 얼마나 최소비용을 투자하여 제품화를 신속히 개발하는가에 달려있다. 기업의 목표를 달성하기 위해서 제조 판매 및 마케팅 그리고 제품 디자인 및 개발기간과 같은 여러 요소들이 복합적으로 적절히 조화를 이루어야만 한다. 이 논문에서는 여러 요소 중 신제품 개발기간에 초점을 맞추어 현재 각 기업에서 많이 사용되고 있는 6 시그마 기법을 적용하여 새로운 제품의 개발기간을 단축시키기 위한 방법론을 제시한다.

  • 지난 수년간 6시그마는 제조업의 주요 혁신 방법론으로, 품질개선과 경비 절감을 위해 사용되었다. 그러나 스마트공장 확산으로 인한 초 단위 데이터 생성 등, 방대한 양의 데이터를 분석하기 어려운 문제와,오랫동안 정착된 형식적 사용으로 인해, 6시그마의 한계가 지적되었다. 6시그마의 한계를 극복하기 위해, 최근에 빅데이터 기반 6시그마 기법이 연구되고 있다. 빅데이터 기반 6시그마는, 6시그마의 강점인 통계적 검증, 수학적 최적화, 높은 해석력과, 빅데이터 분석의 강점인 기계학습을 모두 활용할 수 있다. 그러나, 최근 연구된 빅데이터 기반 6시그마 기법이 제조공정 및 경영 성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 검증은 미비하다. 이러한 이유로 실무에서는, 빅데이터 기반 6시그마 기법에 대한 신뢰성이 높지 않아 제대로 활용하지 못하고 있다. 본 연구에서는, 빅데이터 기반 6시그마인 DX SS의 유효성 분석을 통해 제조공정의 효율성에 미치는 영향을 알아본다. 또한 기업에서 이 기법을 성공적으로 도입 및 정착시키기 위한 핵심 성공 정책을 도출한다. 추가적으로, 성공 정책에 대한 연구 없이 전 임직원의 참여가 수반되지 못한 잘못된 정책으로 방법론이 중단된 사례는, 핵심 성공 정책 연구에 대한 중요성을 보여준다. 제조기업들이 본 연구에서 제시하는 방법론을 적극 도입하고 사용하여 성공적인 성과를 거둘 수 있도록 본 연구가 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

  • In the last ten years, manufacturing companies like GE, IBM, Motorola and service companies like GE Capital and CITIBANK have realized that Six Sigma has standed for quality reform movemant. Six Sigma management which makes the critic effects on the quality management have enlarged and applied office indirect work process and service department as well beyond question manufacturing process. Then Can Six Sigma application methodology from manufacturing industry be applied to service industry without transformation? Can Six Sigma be applied on improvement of Information system quality which is the critic key figure of current successful companies? These questions would be resolved by conducting researches about application and evaluation of Six Sigma on manufacturing industry and service industry. This paper will furnish information of Six Sigma's new function for future business situation through comparing those researches

  • It is important to measure financial effect of six sigma projects accurately for successful implementation of six sigma in a company. However, researches on methods of six sigma financial effect measurement are relatively new. In this study, frequent error patterns of six sigma financial effect measurement are defined and accurate measurement methods are suggested. And a method of connecting six sigma financial effect to corporate income performance is also suggested which not only assures reliability of financial effect measurement but also helps to align with business strategy.

  • In this paper, we analyze and review introduction, implementation, and revision phases in the six sigma movement in LG Electronics. In LG Electronics, 6 sigma activities have been activated not only at manufacturing divisions but also in transactional processes, business, product R&D, marketing, and software development. At present, six sigma is a tool to improve processes and also become the engine of the business innovation. In this paper, concepts and contents of an on-going LG innovation process called TDR(Tear Down & Redesign) are explained in detail. We also propose important aspects and give the future prospect for six sigma.

6시그마 챔피언의 변혁적 리더십이 창의성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 내재적 동기와 프로젝트 학습과 성장성과의 매개효과를 중심으로 (A Study of the Effects of Champion's Transformational leadership on Belts' Creativity: Based on Mediate Effects of Belts' Intrinsic Motivation and Project's Learning and Growth)

  • The study attempts to propose and test a causal research model using SEM (Structural Equation Model) to determine whether there is a relationship between six sigma champion's transformational leadership and belts' creativity based on the mediated effects of intrinsic motivation and project's learning and growth. The subjects of the study composed of 134 belts from manufacturing and service firms implemented six sigma. Empirical results show that transformational leadership is positively related to intrinsic motivation and project learning and growth. In addition, intrinsic motivation and project learning and growth are positively related to creativity. The results of the study imply that creativity of six sigma belts would be enhanced by implementation of six sigma projects and utilizing six sigma tools and methods.
