식스시그마의 1.5σ 이동에 대한 소고 (A Note for 1.5σ Shift of Six Sigma)

  • Six Sigma is a philosophy and systematic methodology for quality improvement. It encourages continuous quality improvement efforts to achieve the ideal goal of 6σ. Sigma(σ) is a statistic representing the standard deviation of the normal distribution, and 6σ level means a level where the tolerance of the specification is six times the standard deviation of the process distribution. In terms of the defective rate, the 6σ level achieves the 0.002 defectives per one million units. However, in the field, the 6σ level is used in the sense of achieving 3.4 defects per one million opportunities, which shows a large gap from the 6σ level in the statistical viewpoint. This is because field practitioners accept a 1.5σ shift of the mean of process when calculating the defective rate under sigma level. It said that the acceptance of 1.5σ shift of the mean is from experience, but there is no research or theoretical explanation to support it logically. Although it is a non-scientific explanation based on experience, considering that there has been no objection to the 1.5σ shift for a long time and it is rather accepted, it is judged that there is a reasonable basis for the 1.5σ shift. Therefore, this study tries to find a reasonable explanation through detective power of control chart via the run-rules to the 1.5σ shift empirically recognized by practitioners.

평면 변형률 상태에서의 모래의 변형 강도특성의 구속압 의존성 (Confining Pressure-Dependency on Deformation and Strength Properties of Sands in Plane Strain Compression)

  • 본 연구는 공중낙하법으로 만든 공기건조 상태의 일본의 표준사인 풍포사(豊浦砂)(Toyoura sand)와 영국의 표준사인 Silver Leighton Buzzard sand 공시체를 배수상태에서 평면 변형율 압축시험을 실시하여, 구속압이 모래의 변형 강도특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 축방향 변위와 수평방향의 변위는 변형율수준(strain level) $10^{-6}$에서 파괴상태까지를 연속적으로 구할 수 있는 장치를 사용하여 정도 높게 측정함으로써 미소변형에서 파괴상태까지의 응력 변형율 특성을 상세히 연구하였다. 그 결과, 극저구속압에서는 구속압이 작아져도 내부마찰각 ${\sigma}^{\prime}{_{max}}=arcsin\{({\sigma}{_1}^{\prime}-{\sigma}{_3}^{\prime})/({\sigma}{_1}^{\prime}+{\sigma}{_3}^{\prime})\}_{max}$가 급격히 크게 되지는 않아, Bolton의 경험식을 사용할 시는 어느 정도 구속압이 클 때만 적용 가능하다는 것을 알았다. 또, 모래의 강성률은 근사적으로 구속압의 m승에 비례하는데(G or $E{\propto}{\sigma}{_3}^{{\prime}m}$), 이때 m은 변형율수준 $10^{-4}$이하에서는 약 0.4 정도이고 변형율=$10^{-1}$에서는 $m{\fallingdotseq}0.9$ 정도이었다. 이러한 경향은 모래의 종류, 혹은 시험종류에 따라 거의 변화하지 않음을 알았다. 이것은 구속압이 작을수록 강성률의 변형율수준 의존성, 응력수준 의존성이 크게 되는 것과 대응한다. 끝으로, Rowe의 응력-다이러턴시 관계는 미소 변형율수준($10^{-4}$ 이하)에서 파괴까지 거의 직선적으로 성립하고, 구속압의 영향을 거의 받지 않는다는 것을 알았다.

6 시그마 품질경영을 위한 노력이 기업의 재무적 성과에 미치는 영향분석 (The Study on Relation between Company's Efforts for Quality Management(6 sigma) and Financial Performance)

  • Purpose: In this paper, we investigate whether the endeavors for 6 sigma quality management by a firm have positive effects on its financial performance and the length of 6 sigma implemented period affects its financial status. Methods: We conduct the analysis using the data from Workplace Panel Survey 2009. We use multiple linear regression in order to analyze the relationship between the efforts for quality management and financial performance. Specifically, the return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE) are investigated as dependent variables and the efforts for quality management as independent variable. The Box-Cox transformation and Cook's distance are also used. Results: As a result of the analysis, the indication is that companies that put effect into the six sigma quality management have a positive result in its financial status. In detail, the efforts for six sigma quality management have positive effects on total asset turnover ratio and six sigma implemented period on net income to net sales ratio. Additionally, companies with longer(shorter) period of six sigma program have more (less) improvement in its financial status. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the company's efforts for quality management positively influence financial performance.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop innovation index of hospital service integrating 6 sigma and SERVQUAL. Methods: This study used DMA(Define, Measure and Analysis) from 6 sigma and 5 Factors from SEVQUAL. To test data, chi-squire text, association analysis and behavior analysis was conducted. Results: This study indicated the management index through CTQ (Critical to Quality) and Chosen few X using 6 sigma process. Finally, And this study developed 5 Factors; Equipment Utilization in Tangibility, Ratio of Patients/Disease/Behavior/Treatment in Reliability, Survival RAte, Canselation Rate of Reservation, Churn Rate, Interval of Treatment and Confidence in Responsiveness, Frequency of Patients/Disease/Behavior/Treatment in Assurance and Contrast to Best Department/Best Doctor/Best Doctor in Faculty/Average of Mine in Empathy. Conclusion: This study developed innovation index of hospital service. Managing this index, hospital is able to achieve the decline of total treatment cycle, adjustment of patients behavior and increase of equipment utilization. Ultimately, hospital is able to accomplish innovation of healthcare service.

  • 오늘날 고객의 요구는 보다 더 다양해지고 있고, 시장 환경이 급속히 변화함에 따라 기업의 모든 활동은 고객중심으로 이루어지고 있다. 최근 제품 및 서비스의 품질 향상을 위해 변화혁신 활동을 추진한 기업이 늘어나고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 도시가스 공급시설을 효율적으로 보수하기 위하여 6시그마 기법을 이용하여 공급시설 건전성에 영향을 주는 핵심인자를 도출하였으며, Risk 인자는 정량적인 평가를 통하여 시그마 값을 산출하였고, 근본원인 및 해결안을 도출, 새로운 프로세스를 적용하여 통계적 공정관리를 실행하였다. 도시가스 공급시설의 안전관리는 위험을 정량화하여 통계적인 공정관리를 통하여 산포를 줄이고, 품질관리 비용을 제거해서 효율적인 경영관리가 가능하며, 6시그마 이용 기법의 정착과 효율적인 운용의 확산을 통해 과학적인 안전관리가 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

Al-Zn-Mg 계 합금의 Creep 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Creep Behaviour of Al-Zn-Mg Alloy)

  • The static creep mechanism and behaviour of Al-Zn-Mg alloy have been investigated under condition of constant stress tension creep test in the temperature and stress range of $170-260^{\circ}C$ and 5-12.5 $kg/mm^2$ respectively. The experimental result are follows : The stress exponent value for creep was observed to about 7.3-6.43 and the activation energy for creep deformation was 44-41 kcal/mol. Larson-Miller parameter P for the crept specimens under the creep condition was obtained as P = (T + 460) (log $t_r$ + 8.6). Emperical equation for the creep rate was obtained by the computer simulation as follows. $${\varepsilon}\;=\;\exp[(-5.519{\times}10^{-4}{\sigma}+2.33{\times}10^{-2})T-6.98{\sigma}+18.295]{\times}{\sigma}^{-0.0142+10.18}\exp[\frac{(-6{\sigma}+47.8)1000}{RT}]$$ Fracture was dominated by intergranular mechanism over the experimental range.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is integrated tolerance design process by advantages of engineering design and 6 sigma statistical tolerances design. Methods: Integrated tolerance design process can determine the goals by using engineer's experience and clarify tolerance by 6 Sigma statistical methods. Integrated design process can be applied by using non-linear simulations. Results: We applied integrated design process to the optical disc drive spindle motor and get good result. Conclusion: If this method is applied test method in the early stages of development, then Design can be reduced development time and cost.

6-sigma 방법론을 적용한 종합설계 교육모델 개발 (Development of Capstone Design Education Model Using 6-sigma Methodology)

  • Capstone design education is essential in the engineering design process according to the certification standards of ABEEK. Capstone design process should be properly trained in undergraduate courses in order to increase the design ability of systems, components and processes within realistic constraints. In this study, a modified design model as a capstone design education model was proposed to reduce the separation between the design process at industrial sites and the design process at university education. The modified design model based on 6-sigma methodology is composed of 6 design steps such as define, measure, analyse, design, verify, and report. Each step has appropriated design contents and tools, and is configured to generate design results. The proposed design model was directly applied to the capstone design class for automotive engineering in Kunsan National University, and it was confirmed that the proposed DMADVR methodology was a very useful design education model to enhance the design ability, teamwork ability and communication skills required by ABEEK.

  • Arc welding process has indicated that it suffers from many flaws. It's because requirement of products is diverse and factors which affects the quality is also various. Therefore, in order to stabilize the welding process, it is important to choose a proper welding machine for the each process, and to evaluate the welding process capability of each machine. In this study, rational and simple index to evaluate the welding machine was set the coefficient of resistance variation through the arc stability examination such as spatter generation weight and bead configuration uniformity etc. And the method to evaluate the process capability index was developed by application of 6$\sigma$.

  • Global financial crisis at 2008 caused a great change of the company itself and environment as hit product, new creative business model. But it is not easy program.
