  • In order to effectively isolate the marine wastes with an effluent standard, the pretreatment process is required to isolate solid materials from the liquid-solid mixed wastes. The more effective the pretreatment becomes, the more processing capacity of posttreatment will be improved and process facilities will be downsized. In this paper, we suggested the vibrating reverse-slant screen, investigated the optimal vibration frequency and vibrator installation angle for the separation of the liquid solid mixed wastes. Several experiments for separation efficiency were conducted under the condition of various vibration frequency($35{\sim}60Hz$, 5Hz interval) and vibrator angle($0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$) considering the crack of screen. The screen inclination angle is set up the gradient as $3^{\circ}{\sim}5^{\circ}$ through the preliminary experiments. Also, we made two types of screen(respectively rectangle and square screen). The separation device has shown the optimum efficiency at vibrator angle $0^{\circ}$ and vibration frequency 60Hz, and has no relation with the shape of screen. And the proposed technology is verified by comparing with quantity of suspended solids before and after filtration.

  • In this study, we examine the applicability of the classifier based on an artifical neural network (ANN) for the low-frequency acoustic signal in shallow water environment. The estimations of the Doppler shift and frequency spreading effect at 220 Hz reveal the frequency variation of less than 2 Hz with time This small variation enables the ANN-based classifier to identify signals using only tonal frequency information. The ANN consists of 4 layers, and has 60 input processing elements (PEs) and 4 output PEs, respectively. When measured tonal signals in the frequency 200-250 Hz are applied to the ANN-based classifier, the classifier can identify more than 67% of the signals for instantaneous frame and more than 91% for averaged one over 5 frames.

  • In this paper, we constructed an array of speaker system with directivity by using FXLMS(Filtered-X LMS) algorithm and confirmed its directivity. The front $0^{\circ}$ characteristics of the controlled speaker was suppressed by interfering it with the control signal produced with filter coefficients optimized with respect to the $180^{\circ}$ characteristics of the rear speakers. The directivity of the array of rear speakers was measured and the damping effect of the signal from the front speaker array was confirmed. The frequency characteristics and directivity was investigated by using the adaptive filter coefficients on damping, the damping on the control point was verified in all the frequency range. In 100Hz, 200Hz, 1000Hz regime, the damping effect was observed in the range of front $60^{\circ}{\sim}100^{\circ}$.

  • This study describes a conductive fabric sensor and determines an optimum excitation frequency of the sensor to evaluate knee joint movements. Subjects were composed of 15 males (age: $30.7{\pm}5.3$) with no known problems with their knee joints. The upper side of subjects' lower limbs was divided into two areas and the lower side of subjects' lower limbs was divided into three areas. The sensors were attached to 1 for 3 spot from a hip joint and to 3 for 4 spot from a knee joint which are the optimum conductive fabric sensor configuration to evaluate knee joint movements. As a result, the optimum excitation frequency for evaluating knee joint movements using conductive fabric sensors was 25 kHz. Average and standard deviation of bio-impedance changes from 15 subjects were $92.1{\pm}137.2{\Omega}$ at 25 kHz. The difference of bio-impedance changes between 25 kHz and 50 kHz was statistically significant (p<0.05) and the difference of bio-impedance changes between 25 kHz and 100 kHz was also statistically significant (p<0.001). These results showed that conductive fabric sensors are more sensitive to measure bio-impedance for evaluating knee joint movements as an excitation frequency decreases.

  • A high-intensity ultrasound wave generates acoustic streaming and acoustic radiation forces when propagating through a medium. An acoustic radiation force generated in a three-dimensional space can produce a solid tactile sensation, delivering spatial information directly to the human skin. We placed 154 ultrasound transmit elements with a frequency of 40 kHz on a concave circular dish, and generated an acoustic radiation force at the focal point by transmitting the ultrasound wave. To feel the tactile sensation better, the transmit elements were excited by sine waves whose amplitude was modulated by a 60 Hz square wave. As an application of ultrasonic tactile sensing, a region where tactile sense is formed in the air is used as an indicator for the position of the hand. We confirmed the utility of ultrasonic tactile feedback by implementing a system that provides the number of fingers to a machine by receiving the shape of the hand at the focal point where the tactile sense is detected.

  • In this paper, a study was conducted to produce 20W by combining a 10W MMIC and raising the unit power amplifier to 100W SSPA by combining the 8-way spatial coupler. SSPA requires low-loss, high-efficiency coupling techniques to meet high output with the output of a single element relatively low compared to TWTA. Designed and produced in this paper, the SSPA was manufactured as a 100W SSPA by mounting eight 20W high-power amplification modules in an 8-way spatial coupler with a reflection loss of 20dB or more and an excellent coupling efficiency of 94% or more. When -10dBm was applied, it was 112.2~169.8W at 20kHz 20%, 125.9~173.8W at 400kHz 40%, 117.5~162.2W at 800kHz 40%, showing performance of over 60dB and over 100W in all three PRF conditions.

  • We investigated influence of continious application of gypsum (G: $CaSO_4{\cdot}2H_2O$), popped rice hulls (H) and zeolite (Z) on soil aggregation of reclaimed sandy loam soils. The application rates amended to fine sandy loam from reclaimed soils at Kyehwado were varied as follows:1550 (G1), 3100 (G2), 6200 (G3), 1000 (H1), 2000 (H2), 3000 (H3), and 200 (HZ1), 400 (HZ2) and 800 (HZ3) added to 1500(H) kg $10a^{-1}$, respectively. Soil aggregates were analyzed for 60, 90 and 120 days after treatments (DAT). At 60 DAT, The amount of aggregate from soil samples treated with gypsum was slightly increased with G1 while the aggregation was decreased by 4.66% for G3 for soil aggregates than thar of control. The treatments of H or HZ were effective in soil aggregation. The effect of treatment was in the order of H > HZ > G. At 90 DAT, increasing amount of gypsum attributed to decrease in soil aggregates. Therefore, we could conclude that suitable amounts of gypsum for soil aggregation in fine sandy loam might be 1550 kg $10a^{-1}$ or less. H1 increased aggregation by 7% for aggregate size between 1.0 and 2.0 mm. HZ1 was most effective in aggregation by 52.78% among the treatments while H2 and HZ3 51.50% and 48.51% at 120 DAT, respectively. As a result, we found that the effect of the treatment for soil amendments was in order of H > HZ > G.

  • In order to obtain the fundamental data about the behavior of sharks by underwater audible sound, this experiment was carried out to investigate the auditory characteristics of tiger shark Scyliorhinus torazame which was caught in the coast of Jeju Island by heart rate conditioning method using pure tones coupled with a delayed electric shock. The audible range of tiger shark extended from 80Hz to 300Hz with a peak sensitivity at 80Hz including less sensitivity at 300Hz. The mean auditory thresholds of tiger shark at the frequencies of 80Hz, 100Hz, 200Hz and 300Hz were 90dB, 103dB, 94dB and 115dB, respectively. The positive response of tiger shark was not evident after the sound projection of over 300Hz. At the results, the sensitive frequency range of tiger shark is narrower than that of fish that has swim bladder. In addition, it is assumed that the most sensitive frequency in auditory thresholds of Chondrichthyes is lower than that of Osteichthyes. Critical ratios of tiger shark measured in the presence of masking noise in the spectrum level range of about 60-70dB (0dB re $1{\mu}Pa/\sqrt{Hz}$) increased from minimum 27dB to maximum 39dB at test frequencies of 80-200Hz. The noise spectrum level at the start of masking was distributed at the range of about 65dB within 80-200Hz.

  • Influences of sustain pulse-width on electrical characteristics and luminous efficiency are experimentally investigated for surface discharge of AC-PDP. A square pulse with variable duty ratio and fixed rising time of 300 ns has been used in the experiment. It is found that the memory coefficient is significantly increased at the critical pulse-width. And the wall charges and wall voltages as well as capacitances are experimentally measured by Q- V analysis method along with the voltage margin relation, in terms of the sustain pulse-width in the range of $1{\mu}s$ to $5{\mu}s$ under driving frequency of 10 kHz to 180 kHz. And the luminous efficiency is also experimentally investigated in above range of sustain pulse-width with driving frequency of 10 kHz to 180 kHz. It is noted that the luminous efficiency for 10 kHz and 180 kHz are 1.29 1m/W and 0.68 1m/W respectively, since the power consumption for 10 kHz is much less than that for 180 kHz. It has been concluded that the optimal sustain pulse-width is in the range of $2.5 {\~}4.5{\mu}s$ under driving frequency range of 10 kHz and 60 kHz, and in the range of $1.5 {\~} 2.5{\mu}s$ under driving frequency range of 120 kHz and 180 kHz based on observation of memory coefficient, and wall voltage as well as luminous efficiency.
