A study on the micro particle blasting was conducted to find the optimum conditions of the blasted surface of aluminum 6061. The particle type such as $Al_2O_3$ and SiC, nozzle diameter, pressure, standoff distance and injection time were used as blasting conditions. Statistical method of orthogonal arrays(ANOVA) was used to find optimum conditions of maximum depth and maximum diameter of blasted surface. Particle type, nozzle diameter, and pressure were found to be the main factors of maximum blasted depth and diameter. Maximum blasted diameter was affected by increasing pressure and nozzle diameter but saturated maximum diameter. Maximum blasted depth was affected by pressure and nozzle diameter when aluminum 6061 was blasted with $Al_2O_3$ particle. The value of surface roughness was increased as pressure and nozzle diameter increased when aluminum 6061 was blasted with SiC.
Currently, the demand for eco-friendly energy sources is high, which has prompted research on polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. Both aluminum alloys and nickel alloys, which are commonly considered as materials of bipolar plates in fuel cells, oxide layers formed on the metal surface have excellent corrosion resistance. In this research, the electrochemical characteristics of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy and Inconel 600 were investigated with chloride concentrations in an acid environment that simulated the cathode condition of the PEMFC. After potentiodynamic polarization experiments, Tafel analysis and surface analysis were performed. Inconel 600 presented remarkably good corrosion resistance under all test conditions. The corrosion current density of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy was significantly higher than that of Inconel 600 under all test conditions. Also, 6061-T6 aluminum alloy and Inconel 600 presented uniform corrosion and intergranular corrosion, respectively. The Ni, Cr, and Fe, which are the main chemical compositions of Inconel 600, are higher than Al in the electromotive force series. And a double oxide film of NiO-Cr2O3, which is more stable than Al2O3, is formed. Thus, the corrosion resistance of Inconel 600 is better.
The solidification cracking susceptibilities of Al-Mg-Si alloy laser welds were assessed using the self-restraint tapered specimen crack test. The cracking susceptibility of 6061 and 6082 Al-Mg-Si alloy laser welds was substantially reduced when the filler wire containing high Si such as Al-12 wt.% Si (4047A) was used. The amount of eutectic was observed to affect the solidification cracking of Al-Mg-Si alloy laser welds. Abundant eutectic seems to heal the cracking and reduces the cracking susceptibility, while an initial increase in eutectic liquid leads to the increased cracking tendency.
Clogging of sump strainers that filter the recirculation water in containment after a loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) seriously impedes the continued cooling of nuclear reactor cores. In experiments examining the corrosion of aluminium alloy 6061, a common material in containment equipment, in borated solutions simulating the water chemistry of sump water after a LOCA, we found that Fe-bearing intermetallic particles, which were initially buried in the Al matrix, were progressively exposed as corrosion continued. Their cathodic nature $vis-{\grave{a}}-vis$ the Al matrix provoked continuous trenching around them until they were finally released into the test solution. Such particles released from Al alloy components in a reactor containment after a LOCA will be transported to the sump entrance with the recirculation flow and trapped by the debris bed that typically forms on the strainer surface, potentially aggravating strainer clogging. These Fe-bearing intermetallic particles, many of which had a rod or thin strip-like geometry, were identified to be mainly the cubic phase ${\alpha}_c-Al(Fe,Mn)Si$ with an average size of about $2.15{\mu}m$; 11.5 g of particles with a volume of about $3.2cm^3$ would be released with the dissolution of every 1 kg 6061 aluminium alloy.

Friction Spot Joining(FSJ) has a strong potential for aluminum alloy joining in automobile industries. The present paper focuses on the attempt to optimize the FSJ process for lap joining of A5052-H32 and A6061-T6 aluminum alloys. For A5052 maximum tensile shear strength has been observed for a tool rotating speed of 800rpm and for A6061 at 1000 rpm. Study on fracture modes of the tensile tested specimens of both A5052-H32 and A6061-T6 revealed, for high tensile strength values, plug fracture mode and lower tensile values, shear fracture mode. Above 2000 rpm distortion of the base metal, beside the tool shoulder was larger and plug fracture mode has been observed.
In this paper, flow stress of Al6061 is obtained by compression test in the range of temperature from $300^{\circ}C$ to $550^{\circ}C$ and effective strain-rate from 0.1/s to 20.0/s. The flow stress information is used to simulate an aluminum hot forging process. Non-isothermal simulation is carried out by a rigid-thermoviscoplastic finite element method. The predictions are compared with the experiments in terms of the deformed shape of material.
With the PEO(Plasma electrolytic oxidation) surface treatment, the oxide film of aluminum alloy is growing in a short time. The reflectance measurement to find the oxygen atoms in the oxide could be investigated. In order to form a thicker oxide film, the PEO surface treatment should be uniformly controlled in processing time.
