  • This study was conducted to find out the co-operative effect of antioxidants (butyl hydroxy anisol, dibutyl hydroxy toluene, propyl gallate) and pyrophosphate (tetrasodium pyrophosphate, disodium pyrophosphate) on the stability of soybean oil by determining the peroxide values. The results obtained were summarized follows: 1. When antioxidants and pyrophosphates were used together, the antioxidants activity was more strong than antioxidants were used only. 2. The co-operative effect of disodium pyrophosphate for antioxidants was stronger than tetrasodium pyrophosphate.

  • The metabolism of a novel anticancer agent 1-{3- [3-(4-Cyano -benzyl)-3H-imidazol-4-yl]-propyl }-3-(6-methoxy-pyridin-3-yl)-1-(2-trifluoromethyl-benzyl)-thiourea (YH3945) were investigated in the Sprague-Dawley rat after single oral and i.v. administration of [14C]-YH3945. Bile, feces, urine and plasma were collected and analyzed by an HPLC system equipped with multiple detectors. (omitted)

  • We used dipodal type bis[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]amine (BTMA) silane coupling agent to modify silica nanoparticles to introduce secondary amino groups on the silica surface. These N-H groups were reacted with three different molecular weights (M.W. = 258, 575, and 700) of poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylates to introduce different attached layer thicknesses on the silica surface by Michael addition reaction. After Michael addition reaction, we used several analytical techniques such as fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), elemental analysis (EA) and solid state $^{13}C$ cross-polarization magic angle spinning (CP/MAS) nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to characterize introduced structures. We found almost complete Michael addition reaction of both two acrylate groups of PDGDA with N-H groups of BTMA modified silica to form ${\beta}$-amino acid esters. Between equimolar ratio of pure BTMA and pure PEGDA reaction, only one acrylate group of two acrylate groups of PEGDA reacted with N-H groups of pure BTMA to form ${\beta}$-amino acid ester and the other remaining acrylate group can be used to form a polymer later.

  • Purification of 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene(2,6-DMNA) from the distillate containing a mixture of dimethylnaphthalene(DMNA) isomers of very high concentration was investigated by crystallization-recrystallization combination as a after-treatment for separation and purification of 2,6-DMNA in the light cycle oil(LCO). The separation of individual isomers of DMNA was studied by crystallization with the distillate as a feed. 2,6-DMNA, 2,7-dimethylnaphthalene(2,7-DMNA) and 2,3-dimethylnaphthalene(2,3-DMNA) were concentrated to crystal, and it was fould that separation between a group of 2,6-, 2,7-, 2,3-DMNA isomers and a group of the other DMNA isomers was possible. However, it was not possible to separate 2,6-, 2,7- and 2,3-DMNA from one another. To select the most suitable recrystallization solvent for purification of 2,6-DMNA, several conventional solvents, which have been employed commercially as recrystallization solvents for high purity performance, were tested, through measurement of solubility of 2,6- and 2,7-DMNA. The solvent used were hexane, iso-propyl ether, ethyl acetate and ethanol. From the solubility results for 2,6- and 2,7-DMNA, ethanol seemed to be the most suitable solvent for purification of 2,6-DMNA. Finally, with crystal recovered by crystallization as a feed and ethanol as a solvent, recrystallization experiments were conducted under various conditions. Purification of 2,6-DMNA was easily done with increasing operating temperature and solvent to feed ratio. These results show that the crystallization-recrystallization combination is an effective one for separation of individual isomers of DMNA.

  • In this study, silane-crosslinked proton exchange membranes were prepared by step-wise radiation grafting of styrene and 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (TMSPM) onto an poly(ethylene-co-tetrafluoroethylene) (ETFE) film and followed by sol-gel processing and sulfonation. The sequentially grafted films with styrene to provide the proton conductivity and TMSPM to form the crosslinked structure were prepared by different grafting order. The structural changes and thermal properties of the prepared films were investigated by FTIR and TGA, respectively. After the introduction of sulfonic acid functional groups, the distributions of sulfonic acid group and silicon atoms at the inside of the sulfonated membranes were analyzed by SEM-EDX.

Pervaporation Separation of Water/Alcohol Mixtures Using PVA/SSA/PSSA_MA Ion Exchange Membranes (PVA/SSA/PSSA_MA 이온교환막을 이용한 물-알코올 계의 투과증발 분리)

  • Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) membranes cross-linked with sulfosuccinic acid (SSA) in which poly(4-styrene sulfonic acid-co-maleic acid) (PSSA_MA) was blended to endow more ion exchange capacity were prepared to measure the permselectivities of water-alcohol mixtures by pervaporation separation technique. The feed mixtures of binary aqueous methanol, ethanol and iso-propyl alcohol solution by 90 wt% alcohol portion were used. Typically, for PVA10/SSA9/PSSA_MA90 membrane, the flux of 202.6, 47.8, $20.2g/m^2hr$ for aqueous methanol, ethanol and iso-propyl alcohol solutions was shown while the best separation factors of 34.2, 291 and 991 were given by PVA10/SSA11/PSSA_MA80 membrane. More details are discussed in main text of this article.

  • Novel palladium(II) complexes of the type Pd(IBA-NH)(IBA-NH') and Pd(IBA-NR)2, where IBA-NH and IBA-NR (R: methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, n-butyl, benzyl) represent isonitrosobenzoylacetone imine and its N-alkyl derivatives respectively, have been prepared. The ir, nmr, and electronic spectra of the palladium(Ⅱ) complexes have been studied. It has been determined that the isonitroso group of IBA-NH coordinates to palladium through the oxygen to form 6-membered chelate ring and that of IBA-NH' coordinates to palladium through the nitrogen to form 5-membered ring in square-planar Pd(IBA-NH)(IBA-NH') and it also has been determined that the isonitroso groups of two IBA-NR coordinates to palladium through the nitrogen to form 5-membered rings in square-planar Pd$(IBA-NR)_2$. The coordination manner of the ligands is similar to that of isonitrosoacetylacetone imines obtained by Bose, et $al.^5$.

  • Polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) containing [N, N'-bis (3- (salicylidene amino) propyl) amine Co(II)] (Co(saldpt)) as a fixed oxygen carrier was synthesized. UV-visible spectra of the membrane demonstrated that Co(saldpt) binded molecular oxygen specificaaly and reversibly. From time lag method experiment, it was found that both oxygen permeability and diffusibity increase with decreasing upstream pressure, while solubility maintain nearly constant. The maximum oxygen permeability and oxygen selectivity over nitrogen obtained was 18.6 barrer and 4, respectively, at 25 mmHg and $40^{\circ}C$ from the the PDMS membrane containing 1 wt% of Co(saldpt). Facilitation behavior was explained in terms of the dual sorption model.

  • This study was carried out to analyze to the flavor components of Lindera obtusiloba BL leaf teas by different processing methods. 81 kinds of flavor components in the masted tea, 78 in the roasted tea after steaming, 88 in the withered tea, 86 in the fermented tea, 72 in the steamed tea, and 89 in the air dried tea ware by GC/MS. Hydrocarbones in Lindera obtusiloba BL leaf teas were 45 kinds of $\beta-piepne$, and 16 kinds of alcohols such as Linalool, n-octanoal, phenyl acetaldehyde, $(-)-\alpha-terpineol$, elemol, and cholest-5-en-3-ol. 11 kinds of ketones sachas 2-ethyl-2- propyl-cyclohexanone, and 8 kinds of aldehydes sach as phenyl acetaldehyde, tetradecanal, 10-undecanal, 4-Bromo-2-methylbutanal were found. Esters were methyl 9,12,15-octadecatrienate, didodecyl phthalace, 1,2-benzenediccarbaboxy acid-bis (2-ethylhexyl)ester and phenols was 2,6-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl)-4-methyl-phenol.

The Complex Formation of Gallium Bromide with i-Propyl Bromide in Nitrobenzene (니트로벤젠용액내에서의 브롬화갈륨과 i-브롬화프로필과의 착물형성에 관한 연구)

  • The solubilities of i-propyl bromide in nitrobenzene have been measured at 10$^{\circ}$, 19$^{\circ}$ and 25$^{\circ}C$ in the presence and absence of gallium bromide. In the presence of gallium bromide, 1 : 1 complex, i-C$_3$H$_7Br{\cdot}GaBr_3$ is formed in the solution. The instability constant K of the complex formation was evaluated from the following equilibrium equation: i-C$_3$H$_7Br{\cdot}GaBr_3$ ${\rightleftharpoons}$ i-C$_3$H$_7$Br + $\frac{1}{2}$$Ga_2Br_6$. The change of enthalpy, free energy and entropy for the dissociation of the complex were also calculated. From these result, it seems that the stabilities of the complex formation, gallium bromide with alkyl bromide, are directly related with those of the carbonium ions of alkyl bromide.
