Differential Signaling via Tumor Necrosis Factor-Associated Factors (TRAFs) by CD27 and CD40 in Mouse B Cells

  • Background: CD27 is recently known as a memory B cell marker and is mainly expressed in activated T cells, some B cell population and NK cells. CD27 is a member of tumor necrosis factor receptor family. Like CD40 molecule, CD27 has (P/S/T/A) X(Q/E)E motif for interacting with TNF receptor-associated factors (TRAFs), and TRAF2 and TRAF5 bindings to CD27 in 293T cells were reported. Methods: To investigate the CD27 signaling effect in B cells, human CD40 extracellular domain containing mouse CD27 cytoplamic domain construct (hCD40-mCD27) was transfected into mouse B cell line CH12.LX and M12.4.1. Results: Through the stimulation of hCD40-mCD27 molecule via anti-human CD40 antibody or CD154 ligation, expression of CD11a, CD23, CD54, CD70 and CD80 were increased and secretion of IgM was induced, which were comparable to the effect of CD40 stimulation. TRAF2 and TRAF3 were recruited into lipid-enriched membrane raft and were bound to CD27 in M12.4.1 cells. CD27 stimulation, however, did not increase TRAF2 or TRAF3 degradation. Conclusion: In contrast to CD40 signaling pathway, TRAF2 and TRAF3 degradation was not observed after CD27 stimulation and it might contribute to prolonged B cell activation through CD27 signaling.

님 또는 고삼추출물을 주원료로 하는 작물병해충 관리용 유기농업자재의 유효성분 열 안정성 (Stability of Representative Active Compounds on Commercial Biopesticides Based on Neem or Sophora flavescens Extract Under Controlled Temperature)

  • 님 추출물 또는 고삼 추출물을 주원료로 하는 유기농업자재의 유효성분인 limonoid계 4성분 (azadirachtin A, azadirachtin B, deacetylsalannin, salannin)과 alkaloid계 2성분 (matrine, oxymatrine)을 중심으로 열 안정성을 평가하였다. 시험은 $30^{\circ}C$, $35^{\circ}C$, $40^{\circ}C$, $45^{\circ}C$, $54^{\circ}C$에서 각각 진행하였으며, 님 추출물을 주성분으로 하는 유기농업자재 3종에서 유효성분 반감기는 25.6-220일로 제품에 따라 열 안정성의 차이가 큰 것을 확인하였다. 반면, 고삼 추출물을 주성분으로 하는 유기농업자재의 유효성분 반감기는 231-346일로 님 추출물에 비해 상대적으로 열 안정성이 높은 것으로 나타났다.

  • Hydrogen as a high-quality and clean energy carrier has attracted renewed and ever-increasing attention around the world in recent years, mainly due to developments in fuel cells and environmental pressures including climate change issues. In this processes for hydrogen production from fossil fuels, separation and purification is a critical technology. $(Ni_{60}-Nb_{40})_{95}-Pd_5$ alloy ingots were prepared by arc-melting the mixture of pure metals in an Ar atmosphere. Melt-spun ribbons were produced by the single-roller melt-spinning technique in an Ar atmosphere. Amorphous structure and thermal behavior were characterized by XRD and DSC. The permeability of the $(Ni_{60}-Nb_{40})_{95}-Pd_5$ amorphous alloy membrane was characterized by hydrogen permeation experiments in the temperature range 623 to 773 K and pressure of 2 bars. The maximum hydrogen permeability was $3.54{\times}10^{-9}[mol{\cdot}m^{-1}s^{-1}{\cdot}pa^{-1/2}]$ at 773 K for the $(Ni_{60}-Nb_{40})_{95}-Pd_5$ amorphous alloy.

백합가루 첨가량에 따른 백합병(百合餠)의 관능적ㆍ텍스쳐 측정 (Sensory and mechanical characteristics of Backhapbyung by different ratios of ingredients)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine gain the most desirable mixture ratio for the ingredients of Backhapbyung. Sensory examination and mechanical test were conducted on the texture, water contents and color degree of Backhapbyung with various ratios of liliibulbs powder and sugar added to nonglutinous rice flour. The results of sensory evaluation showed that Backhapbyung composed of put 8% (24g) liliibulbs powder, 40g sugar, 40ml water and 276g nonglutinous rice flour had the highest overall score in terms of acceptability, after-swallowing and taste of flavor, and overall quality preference. Overall among the recipes tested, that with 6% (24g) liliibulbs powder, 40g sugar, 40 ml water and 282g nonglutinous rice flour showed the highest marks in springiness, cohesiveness, gumminess and chewiness. The moisture content was 33.54% nonglutinous rice flour, and 11.8% liliibulbs powder. The overall quality of sensory examination for bitterness was positively correlated with the hardness of sensory examination and the mechanical examination for adhesiveness. The overall quality of sensory examination for chewiness was positively correlated with the moistness of sensory examination and the mechanical examination for cohesiveness. From the above results, the best mixture ratio of Backhapbyung, with a moisture content of 37.18%, is 8% (24g) of liliibulbs powder, 40g sugar, 40ml water, and 3g salt and 276g nonglutinous rice flour.

Escherichia coli의 Peroxidase Isoenzyme에 미치는 온도의 영향 (Effects of Temperature on the Isoenzymes of Peroxidase in Escherichia coli)

  • This experiment was designed to study the effects of temperature on the peroxidase isoenzymes of a mesophilic microorganism, Escherichia coli (grown within biokinetic zone). Optimum temperature for the growth of E. coli was $37{\circ}C.$ Three different temperatures, 20, 30 and $40{\circ}C,$ were selected. And the isoenzyme patterns of peroxidase of E. coli, growth respectively at each temperature, were analysed by disc electrophoresis. The sample of 20.deg.C showed 4 bands, that of 30.deg.C, 5 bands and that of 40.deg.C, 6 bands. Two dark bands (higher molecular weight, 56,000 and 54,000) and two light bands (lower molecular weight, 11,500 and 10,000) were constant at all samples. But two intermediate bands (M.W.44,000 and 34,000) were variable ; at $20{\circ}C,$ no banding pattern, one band 9M.W. 34,000) only at $30{\circ}C,$ and at $40{\circ}C$ two bands were appeared. And the shifts of growth temperatures between 30.deg.C and 40.deg.C showed the alteration of the isoenzyme patterns ; the isoenzyme patterns of the smaple of tmeperature shift from $30{\circ}C$ to $40{\circ}C$ were same as that of 40.deg.C and vice versa.

Angle's class I 교합의 한국인 성인 코에 두부방사선 계측학적 연구 (A LATERAL CEPHALOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF THE KOREAN ADULT NOSE IN ANGLE'S CLASS I OCCLUSION)

  • The purpose of this study was to establish a set of standard values for the form of the nose and its relationship to other craniofacial structures in young korean adults in angle's class I occlusion. The subjects were 40 (20 male, 20 female) Korean dental students in angle's class I occlusion. Lateral cephalometric radiographs were used to determine the form of the nose and its positon relative to other craniofacial structures. The results were obtained as followed. 1. There was a significance between the registered male and female measurements in nasal height(P<0.05). (Male: 58.23mm Female : 54.62mm) 2. There was a significance between the registered male and female measurements in nasal length(P<0.05). (Male : 54.18mm Female : 49.38mm) 3. The vertical distances from the tip of the nose in Korean adults were significantly greater in the male(P<0.05) and were smaller in both sex in comparison with caucasian.

약용식물 추출물의 숙취 해소 효과에 관한 연구 (Effect of medicinal plant extract for hangover relief)

  • The present study was performed to evaluate the effect of medicinal plant extract on relieving hangovers in mice administered alcohol. The animals were divided into three groups. Each group was treated with fermented plant extract, non-fermented plant extract, or water 30 min after consuming ethanol (2 mL/kg). A locomotor activity test showed that all groups had decreased motor activity until 40 min after plant extract administration. The mice treated with water had lower motor activity until 100 min post-administration. However, the group treated with non-fermented plant extract showed increased motor activity 40 min post-administration, and the higher activity level was maintained until 120 min post-administration. The animals treated with fermented plant extract had a level of motor activity between those of the groups treated with water or non-fermented plant extract. Blood was collected from each mouse 120 min post-administration and aldehyde concentration was measured. The group treated with non-fermented plant extract had a significantly higher (p < 0.05) aldehyde concentration than the other groups. These results demonstrate that the non-fermented medicinal plant extract helped alleviate hangovers 40 min after administration by reducing aldehyde concentrations in the blood.

재배지역별 청양고추의 품질 특성 (Quality Characteristics of Cheongyang pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) according to Cultivation Region)

  • 본 연구에서는 우리나라의 청양고추를 13개 지역에서 노지재배된 것을 채취하여 재배지역별 품질 특성을 비교 분석하였다. 일반성분의 경우 단백질함량은 12.74~19.98%, 지방함량은 4.54~7.17%, 회분함량은 6.07~9.81% 범위로 넓은 분포를 보였다. 무기성분 함량은 지역별 차이를 보였지만 주요 무기성분은 K이었다. pH 및 총산도는 각각 4.86~5.26 및 2.10~4.25% 범위였다. 청양고추의 유리당은 fructose 및 glucose가 주요 유리당으로 검출되었고 각각 8.55~17.06% 및 3.25~10.47% 범위로 지역별 큰 차이를 나타냈다. 색도 중 a값은 28.89~37.12의 범위였고, ASTA값은 76.54~139.57의 범위로 a값에 비해 넓은 분포를 나타냈다. Capsaicin 함량은 100.27~261.54 mg%, dihydrocapsaicin 함량은 51.01~84.58 mg% 범위였고 capsaicinoid 함량은 11개 지역에서 200 mg% 이상의 함량을 보였다. 본 연구결과 청양고추는 재배지역에 따른 심한 함량 변이를 나타냈으며, 추후 다양한 품종을 대상으로 재배지역에 따른 품종 특성에 관한 추가 연구가 필요하다.

황이 포함된 중형기공성 탄소에 화학적으로 고정화된 H5PMo10V2O40 촉매 상에서 Benzyl Alcohol 산화반응 (Benzyl Alcohol Oxidation over H5PMo10V2O40 Catalyst Chemically Immobilized on Sulfur-containing Mesoporous Carbon)

  • 황이 포함된 중형기공성 탄소 담체(S-MC)에 화학적으로 고정화된 $H_5PMo_{10}V_2O_{40}$ ($PMo_{10}V_2$) 촉매를 제조하고, 이를 Benzyl alcohol 산화반응에 적용해보았다. 먼저 주형물질로 SBA-15, 탄소 전구체로 p-Toluenesulfonic acid를 이용하여 S-MC 지지체를 제조하였다. 이후, $PMo_{10}V_2$ 촉매가 화학적으로 고정화될 수 있는 위치를 제공하기 위해 S-MC 지지체의 표면이 양전하를 띠도록 개질시켰다. 전체적으로 음전하를 띠는 $[PMo_{10}V_2O4_{40}]^{5-}$를 이용함으로써 $PMo_{10}V_2$를 양이온을 띠는 S-MC 표면에 화학적으로 고정화하였다. 화학적 고정화를 통해 $PMo_{10}V_2$가 분자수준으로 균일하게 분산되었음을 확인하였다. Benzyl alcohol의 기상 산화반응에서 $PMo_{10}V_2$/S-MC 촉매는 무담지 상태의 $PMo_{10}V_2$보다 높은 전화율 및 수율을 나타냈다. $PMo_{10}V_2$/S-MC 촉매의 반응 활성이 향상된 이유는 화학적 고정화를 통해 $PMo_{10}V_2$이 S-MC 지지체에 고르게 분산되었기 때문이다.

EFFECT OF UREA SUPPLEMENTATION ON THE NUTRITIVE VALUE OF OAT SILAGE

  • Silages were prepared with different ratios of oat and wheat straw 100:0, 80:20, 60:40, 40:60, 20:80, and 0:100 with or without urea supplementation and were ensiled for 60 days in air tight polyethylene bags and kept at room temperature. Results showed that dry matter loss was maximum in 100% oat silage and it decreased as the ratio of wheat straw increased. There was a significant difference in crude protein value of the silages prepared by different ratios of oat and wheat straw. Addition of urea significantly increased the crude protein and decreased the crude fibre value. Silage made with urea supplementation were well fermented as indicated by higher value of volatile fatty acids (VFA) and lower value of residual carbohydrates. Maximum VFA concentrations were observed in 60:40 oat-wheat straw silages. The value of enzyme soluble organic matter (ESOM) was high in all the urea supplemented silages as compared to without urea and maximum value was found in 60:40 oat-wheat straw combination.
