This paper describes the performance of a Ku-band 5-bit monolithic phase shifter with metal semiconductor field effect transistor (MESFET) switches and the implementation of a ceramic packaged phase shifter for phase array antennas. Using compensation resistors reduced the insertion loss variation of the phase shifter. Measurement of the 5-bit phase shifter with a monolithic microwave integrated circuit demonstrated a phase error of less than $7.5{\circ}$ root-mean-square (RMS) and an insertion loss variation of less than 0.9 dB RMS for 13 to 15 GHz. For all 32 states of the developed 5-bit phase shifter, the insertion losses were $8.2{\pm}1.4$dB, the input return losses were higher than 7.7 dB, and the output return losses were higher than 6.8 dB for 13 to 15 GHz. The chip size of the 5- bit monolithic phase shifter with a digital circuit for controlling all five bits was 2.35 mm ${\times}$1.65 mm. The packaged phase shifter demonstrated a phase error of less than $11.3{\circ}$ RMS, measured insertion losses of 12.2 ${\pm}$2.2 dB, and an insertion loss variation of 1.0 dB RMS for 13 to 15 GHz. For all 32 states, the input return losses were higher than 5.0 dB and the output return losses were higher than 6.2 dB for 13 to 15 GHz. The size of the packaged phase shifter was 7.20 mm${\times}$ 6.20 mm.

In this paper, we proposed the new class-E frequency multiplier design that include the highest efficient characteristics. The proposed frequency multiplier is designed for 5.8[GHz] output using the frequency multiplier about 2.9[GHz] input signal. And studying in this paper is for the design and the implementation of the class E frequency multiplier. For the result, the maximum highest efficient characteristics 32[%] which is with output power 24.5[dBm] and 8.5[dB], is shown with frequency multiplier for the 2.9/5.8[GHz] class E. And we applied the linear method to the implemented class E frequency multiplier. As a result, the output spectrum for the linear is upgrade to 12[dB], 12[dB], 13[dB] of the ACPR characteristics on the +11[MHz], +20[MHz], +30[MHz] offset frequency in the center frequency. The result is satisfied with the 3.83[%] of the lineared EVM for the 64-QAM modulated method with the 54[Mbps] transmission velocity. In this paper, we show that the good compensation result of the linearity and the efficiency through the digital pre-linear method of the distortion with the frequency multiplier. Therefore, we suggested the frequency multiplier method are applying to WLAN, cellular, PCS, WCDMA, and etc.

This paper designed the antenna for collecting and servicing the traffic information that apply to freeway Traffic Management System, as using DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication). Active DSRC is the technology that is using 5.8GHz Radio Frequency to a mean Sequency and there are a lot of the case occurring a physical electric wave shadowing because of the traveling straight of a electric wave. In such inferior communication environment, it constructed the stabilized communication link that can do collecting and servicing the correct traffic information and designed the beam pattern considering the establishment position of the antenna that can apply to various road environments and a communication area. By considering the communication link environment, this paper designed and manufacture the mean frequency of 5.8GHz, the input loss of -17dB in 75MHz bandwidth, the Axial ratio of 1.5:1, and $2{\times}4$ array microstrip antenna which beam pattern have the characteristic of $55^{\circ}$ horizontal half power beam width and $26^{\circ}$elevation half power beam width and the minimum establishment height of the antenna was designed as 14m for avoiding electric wave shadowing on a physical condition between vehicles

In this paper, the circularly polarized $4{\times}4$ array antenna is proposed for the X-band. A single antenna consists of square patch and unequal cross-aperture coupled feeding. The RHCP(Right Handed Circularly Polarization) is generated by unequal cross-aperture coupled feeding. By reducing space among elements of way antenna from 0.8 ${\lambda}_0$ to 0.45 ${\lambda}_0$, the mounting area of array antenna is miniaturized. The $2{\times}2$ array antenna is designed using sequential rotation feeding network. The good level of gain, axial ratio, and impedance bandwidth are achieved. The $4{\times}4$ array antenna is extended by ${\lambda}/4$ transformer and T-junction power divider. The simulated maximum radiation gain is 15.09 dBi at 10 GHz. The simulated 3 dB Axial Ratio bandwidth is from 9.05 to 10.4 GHz(13.5%). Also the measured impedance bandwidth($VSWR{\leq}2$) of manufactured $4{\times}4$ array antenna is from 8.45 to 11.84 GHz(33.9%). The measured maximum radiation gain is 11.10 dBi at 10 GHz. The measured 3 dB Axial Ratio bandwidth is from 9.42 to 10.47 GHz(10.5%).

A new lightwave locking technique which can be used in tuning the wavelength of a local laser diode to the reference wavelength is presented in this paper. The optical frequency from the reference laser source and the optical frequency from the local slave VCO laser are heterodyned on a optical receiver, resulting in the 1.5GHz RF signal corresponding to the difference frequency between two input optical signals. The difference frequency is locked to the reference 1.5GHz oscillator source in off-set frequency locking loop. Using the commercialized microwave components, frequency difference detector can be easily established to lock the lightwave. The optical frequency of 1.55um laser diode which keeps the frequency off-set of 1.5GHz is locked to the input reference optical signal with the locking range of 320MHz.

Broadband monolithic SiGe HBT variable gain amplifier with a feedforward configuration have been newly developed to improve bandwidth and dB-linearly controlled gain characteristics. The VGA has been implemented in a $0.35-{\mu}m$ BiCMOS process. The VGA achieves a dynamic gain-control range of 19.6 dB and a 3-dB bandwidth of 4 GHz ($4{\sim}8\;GHz$) with the control-voltage range from 0.6 to 2.6 V. The VGA produces a maximum gain of 9.3 dB at 6 GHz and a output power of -3 dBm at 8 GHz.

In this paper, a design method for a compact dual-band slot antenna with bent slot is studied. Bent slots are added on the rectangular slot of the proposed antenna for dual-band operation. The rectangular slot is fed by a coaxial cable by placing a rectangular feeding patch inside the slot. When the bent slots are added onto the both corner of the upper side of the rectangular slot symmetrically, a new resonant frequency is created in low frequency because of the increasement of the slot length. A prototype of the proposed dual-band slot antenna operating at 2.45 GHz WLAN band and 4.50-8.30 GHz band including 5GHz WLAN band is fabricated on an FR4 substrate with a dimension of 30 mm by 30 mm. Experiment results show that the antenna has a desired impedance characteristic with a frequency band of 2.40-2.49 GHz and 4.33-9.85 GHz for an input reflection coefficient < -10 dB.

In this paper, we fabricated transmitting and receiving antennas to realize the low cost radar using two receiving antennas and investigated their characteristics. The antennas are designed with MPA(Microstrip Patch Array) structure for the beam concentration in horizon direction and low cost and used Taylor array pattern synthesis to suppress sidelobes. As a results of measurement in the 24GHz ISM band(24.0-24.25GHz), our using band, antenna gains are placed between 15.2 dBi and 16.26 dBi which are satisfied with the design specification of higher than 15dBi and lower than 17dBi. The sidelobes are -13.15 dBc, -13.1 dBc and -12.8 dBc at the operating frequencies of 24.0 GHz, 24.125 GHz and 24.25 GHz repectively, which are satisfied with the specification of lower than -10 dBc.
In this paper, the design method of a miniaturized chipless RFID tag using a modified bent H-shaped slot was proposed. The proposed modified bent H-shaped slot was appended on the rectangular conductor plate printed on one side of a 20 mm × 50 mm FR4 substrate with a thickness of 0.8 mm. The resonant dip frequency of the bistatic RCS for the proposed modified bent H-shaped slot was compared with the cases when the H-shaped, U-shaped slot, and bent H-shaped slots were added, respectively, on the conductor plate. The simulated resonant dip frequencies for H-shaped, U-shaped, and bent H-shaped slots were 5.907 GHz, 4.918 GHz, and 4.364 GHz, respectively. When the proposed modified bent H-shaped slot was added, the resonant dip frequency was decreased to 3.741 GHz, and, therefore, the slot length was reduced by 36.7% compared to the H-shaped slot case. Experiment results show that the resonant dip frequency of the fabricated modified bent H-shaped slot was 3.9 GHz.
