Design and Implementation of Large Tag Data Transmission Protocol for 2.4GHz Multi-Channel Active RFID System (2.4GHz 다중채널 능동형 RFID시스템을 위한 대용량 태그 데이터 전송 프로토콜의 설계 및 구현)

  • To apply active RFID technology in the various kinds of industry, it needs to quickly transmit a large amount of data. ISO/IEC 18000-7 standard uses the 433.92MHz as single channel system and its transmit rate is just 27.8kbps, that is insufficient for a large amount of data transmission. To solve this problem, we designed a new data transmission protocol using 2.4GHz band. The feature of designed protocol is not only making over 255bytes data messages using the Burst Read UDB but also efficiently transmitting it. To implement this protocol, we use Texas Instruments's SmartRF04 develop kit and CC2500 transceiver as RF module. As an evaluation of 63.75kbytes data transmission, we demonstrate that transmission time of Burst Read UDB has improved as 17.95% faster than that of Read UDB in the ISO/IEC 18000-7.

  • In this paper, we compared the absorption abilities of AMP and Sendust EM wave absorbers for a port logistics RFID system. Firstly, we fabricated EM wave absorber samples by using each absorbing material, AMP or Sendust, and CPE (Chlorinated Polyethylene) with composition ratios 85 : 15 wt. %. Secondly, we designed the optimum EM wave absorber using the calculated material constants found from the measured input impedance of the samples. Therefore, we confirmed that imaginary factor of complex relative permeability influences absorption ability and that AMP is better absorbing material than Sendust at the frequency band of 433 MHz.

  • In this paper, we developed an EM wave absorber having the absorption ability of more than 15 dB for port logistics RFID system by using AMP. Firstly, we fabricated EM wave absorber by using AMP and CPE(Chlorinated Polyethylene) with different composition ratios 80:20 wt.% and 85:15 wt.%. Secondly, we designed the optimum EM wave absorber using the calculated material constants obtained from measured input impedance of the samples. Therefore, EM wave absorber with absorption ability of 17.5 dB at 433 MHz when composition ratio of AMP:CPE=85:15 wt.% and thickness of 5.5 mm.

  • 본 연구에서는 time averaging과 depth profiling기술을 음향현미경에 적용하여 5MHz 대역의 초음파 영상처리 시스템을 구성하였으며 기존의 피크값 검출기술과 상호 비교, 분석하였다. time averaging기술에서는 한 지점에서 반사된 tone burst파 전체를 디지털 오실로스코프를 통해 시간영역에서 A/D변환하고 변환된 512개 데이터들의 평균값을 취함으로써 영상을 얻을 수 있었으며, 이 기술은 시간영역에서 smoothing효과를 이용하여 산란이 심한 영역에 대한 영상을 개선시킬 수 있었다. depth profiling기술은 기준신호에 대한 반사신호의 시간 지연값을 최소 분해능 2ns로 검출함으로써 샘플의 3차원적인 실제 기하학적인 모양을 상대적인 크기로 얻을 수 있었다.

  • This paper consists of two parts: the protocol for tag-to-tag mesh network and the implementation of dual-radio RFID system. Recently, RFID has been adopted in ports or warehouse, being attached to containers and palettes for loading/unloading automation. However, the RFID system has encountered one problem - some tags cannot receive any command from reader intermittently due to signal interference by containers or field equipments (e. g. cranes and yard tractors). This area where reader signal cannot reach is called dead-zone. The proposed method for solving the dead-zone problem is as follows. A zone which can be communicated directly between readers and tags communicates in 433MHz frequency band in compliance with ISO/IEC 18000-7 standard. On the other hand, dead-zone communicates in 2.4GHz frequency band by using tag-to-tag mesh network in compliance with IEEE 802.15.4 standard. The proposed method can not only save much cost to install additional readers but also help resolve the dead-zone problem. Furthermore, it can provide the easier, faster, and more economical network infrastructure.

  • RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) technology is an automatic identification method using radio frequencies between RFID reader which collects the informatin and tag which transmits the information. RFID technology develops passive RFID which transmit the only ID to active RFID which transmit the additional information such as sensing information. there is ISO/IEC 18000-7 as typical standard of active RFID. it is single channel system of 433.92MHz and has limitation of collection of a number of tags. to overcome limitation of collection of many tags, we propose the new 2.4GHz active RFID technology which can use the multi-channel. if reader has multi-interface and uses another channel in each, reader could fast collect the tags. but, if a reader which has many interfaces collects tags through the specific interface, the performance may not improve any more comparing with a reader using single interface. in this paper, we show the fast collection through design and implementation of protocol for load balancing between interfaces in multi-interface RFID reader.

  • 드론은 군사목적에서 개발되고 사용되어 왔으나 현재에는 촬영, 물류 등의 다양한 분야에서 연구 및 사용되고 있다. 앞으로 수많은 드론이 하늘에서 비행할 것으로 예상됨에 따라 때때로 비슷한 항로를 비행하는 드론간의 충돌 위험 또한 야기될 수 있다. 드론을 안전하게 비행하기 위한 많은 연구들이 진해되어 왔지만 공중 충돌에 의한 피해를 최소화 하려는 연구의 진행은 초기상태에 있다. 본 논문은 민간 항공기에 적용되어 사용되고 있는 1030/1090MHz 대역의 TCAS 시스템을 433MHz LoRa 네트워크를 사용하여 구현하였다. 충돌 위험을 판단하는 근거는 비행준인 드론의 진행 방향 및 비행 고도를 통하여 산출한다.

  • The ISO 18000-7 Active RFID standard, a single channel system operating in the 433Mhz, faces technical difficulties in supporting some recently introduced application demands because of its low transmission rates and radio interference between readers. We propose a new multi-channel active RFID system operating in the 2.4Ghz. The special feature of the proposed system is that a reader makes use of multiple interfaces to improve its performance like a multi-core processor. However if only a small part of interfaces are actually used, the performance improvement would not meet the expectation. To overcome this problem, a new multi-channel multi-interface active RFID protocol, which balances communication loads among all available interfaces, is necessary. 3 protocols, named as "Aggregated", "LP-Combined", "AP-Balanced", are proposed. Through simulation, we compare them for various conditions by changing number of tags, number of interfaces, tag data size. AP-Balanced shows the best performance and its performance increases almost linearly as the number of interface increases, which meets our expectation.

  • CSD is Active RFID based Container Security Device which is proposed by the U.S Department of Home Security. It is mounted inside the container to sense opening of the container door. ConTracer is the CSD which is developed in this research whose major features are sensing door opening status as well as history inquiring on internal environment and shock to the container by mounting the temperature/humidity/shock sensors. Moreover, its RFID frequency bandwidth uses 433MHz and 2.4GHz to correspond actively to the radio regulations used by different countries. This paper introduces the development trend of CSD, compares the ConTracer which is developed thru this research and other company's CSD, and introduces CSD System which is designed and established using ConTracer. Finally, the implemented CSD System is verified by applying the demonstration service to container distribution between Korea and China.

  • 본 논문에서는 데이터 전송용 특정 소출력 무선국용 무선기기의 송수신단의 회로를 설계하고 제작하여 특성을 측정하였다. 주파수 대역은 424.7~424.95MHz이고, 반이중(Half Duplex Communication) 통신방식, PLL Synthesized, 20 Channel, 12.5kHz Channel Bandwidth 그리고 FSK Modulation/Demodulation 방식을 사용하였다. 송신단은 저잡음 증폭기와 전력증폭기를 사용하여 10mW의 출력으로 설계하였고, 발생되는 스퓨리어스를 감쇄시키기 위해 저역통과필터와 공진 회로로 구성하였다. 수신단은 Dual Conversion 방식을 사용하였다. 설계한 결과, 송신단의 출력은 9.71dBm, 스퓨리어스특성 47dBc 그리고 수신단은 감도가 -113dBm에서 Jitter가 $\pm$12.3%로 나타났다.
