Purpose: Laparoscopic surgery for gastric cancer was introduced in the past decade because it was considered less invasive than open surgery, and this results in less postoperative pain, faster recovery and an improved quality of life. Several studies have demonstrated the safety and feasibility of this procedure. We examined the outcome of performing laparoscopic surgery for gastric cancer over the last two year. Materials and Methods: From April 2004 to December 2006, 329 patients with gastric adenocarcinoma underwent a laparoscopy-assisted distal gastrectomy with lymph node dissection. The data was retrospectively reviewed in terms of the clinicopathologic findings, the perioperative outcomes and the complications. Results: The total patient group was comprised 196 men (59.6%) and 133 women (40.4%). The mean BMI was 23.6 and the mean tumor size was 2.7 cm. The mean number of harvested lymph node was 22.7, and this was 18.6 before 30 cases and 23.1 after 30 cases, and the difference was significant (P=0.02). The mean operation time was 180.9 min, and this was than 287.9 min before 30 cases and 170.2 min after 30 cases. After 30 cases, there was a significant improvement of the operation time (P<0.01). The mean incision length after 30 cases was shorter than that before 30 cases (P<0.01). Postoperative complications occurred in 24 (7.3%) of 329 patients and there was no conversion to open surgery. Conclusion: Even though the LADG was accompanied by a difficult learning curve, we successfully performed 329 LADG procedures over the past 2 years and we believe that LADG is a safe, feasible operation for treating most early gastric cancers (EGC).

This study was conducted to determine the influence of seeding date on growth, characteristic yield and chemical composition of Italian millet (Setaria italica) from April 20 to May 30, 2003(April 20, May 1, May 20 and May 30) in Jeju. A local variety was seeded on days to heading were lessened as seeding date was delayed. The plant height was longest when seeded on 1 May(131cm) than at the other seeding dates. Stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf length and leaf width had the similar trend with plant height. SPDA reading values were greater at earlier seedings. Fresh forage yield was greatest (43.28MT/ha) at 1 May seeding and decreased gradually before or after this seeding date. Dry matter yield, crude protein yield and total digestible nutrient (TDN) yield had nearly the same tendency with fresh forage yield. Crude protein, crude fat, NFE and TDN contents were greatest at 30 May seeding and then decreased earlier seedings. Crude ash and crude fiber content tended to decreased as seeding was delayed. Based on the these findings, optimum seeding date for forage production of Italian millet seems to be early May in Jeju island.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of $Sa-Am$ lung sedating acupuncture (LS) on wrist pulse changes in healthy participants. Method : Forty healthy subjects participated in this study, and were divided into an acupuncture group and controlled group. Using a three-dimensional pulse imaging system (DMP-3000), wrist pulse was measured before, immediately after, 30 minutes after and 60 minutes after acupuncture in the acupuncture group, with the rest in controlled group. Sixteen parameters between the acupuncture group and the controlled group were analyzed at Cun, Guan and Chi in each time. Result : After LS acupuncture, wrist pulse sixteen parameters were changed significantly according to the time at each measuring region. 1. Heart rate significantly decreased in immediately after, 30 minutes after and 60 minutes after, Pulse period significantly increased in 30 minutes after and 60 minutes after. 2. T4 didn't significantly changed, T-T4 significantly increased in immediately after, 30 minutes after and 60 minutes after. T4/T, T4/(T-T4), T1/T, T5/T significantly decreased in immediately after, 30 minutes after and 60 minutes after. (T-T4)/T significantly decreased in immediately after, 30 minutes after and 60 minutes after. T5 significantly increased in 30 minutes after and 60 minutes after. 3. Modulus of elasticity significantly decreased in left Cun 60 minutes after, significantly increased in left Chi 30 minutes after. 4. Variance of Amplitude significantly increased in right Guan 60 minutes after. 5. Area of pulse significantly increased in left Cun 60 minutes after, left Chi 30 minutes after and right Cun 60 minutes after. Systolic pulse area significantly decreased left Chi 30 minutes after, right Cun immediately after, 30 minutes after and 60 minutes after, right Guan in immediately after. 6. Energy/min significantly decreased in left Chi 60 minutes after and right Cun immediately after. EIx significantly decreased in right Cun immediately after. 7. In both sides Cun, Guan, Chi wrist pulse, a lot of significant changes in right Cun and left Chi appeared, and then followed by the left Cun, right Guan. Conclusion : This study analyzed that the correlation between LS acupuncture and radial pulse(cun, guan, chi) is considered to be meaningful, hereafter clinical studies on this are needed.
