  • This study targets the rapidly growing electric vehicle industry. Currently, China is the world's largest electric vehicle producer, and several global and local companies are adapting to the transition environment of the electric vehicle industry and carrying out various activities. To analyze the causes and environmental characteristics of this transition, we analyzed the activities of the Chinese government, automobile companies, and companies in forward and backward linked industries, which are major actors in the production network. As a result, with full support from the Chinese government, functional changes of existing actors and an increase in the entry of new actors resulted in a transition to an electric vehicle industry space accompanied by new values.

  • This paper investigates spatio-temporal changes in the international system of linkages among multinational corporate domestic decision-making centers and their overseas subsidiary centers for the period 1974-1991. During this period advances in information technologies and an ever increasing interdependent world economy have permitted the globalization of resource transfers, production techniques, service provision and financial transactions. Based on a network theory of internationalization, the study idenifies the dispersion of multinational control centers and the diversification of their linkage patterns. These tendencies are led by small and medium sized quaternary places as well as the rapid growth of service industries. Corporate headquarters cease to be tied together to big corporate and governmental centers but will disperse over time at global, national and regional level. Using information statistics, this paper confirms the dispersion patterns of capital flows and diversification of multinational control linkages. With an increasing trend toward a multicentric world system and the associated diecline of the global hegemony of a small number of largest cities, multinational control linkages should continue to disperse.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the current state of coding education for children and to propose a new 'play-oriented' educational content to keep up with the problems of education in line with the revision process of the 4th Industrial Revolution. As a research method, we investigated and analyzed the case of the Korean early childhood coding education program, and then suggested the direction of the future infant coding education and suggested a new play area for children. Case analysis shows that current coding education places many restrictions on children's activities. So we propose a coding education space as a 'playing space' where children can actively play. Because the space is used, emotional education is possible because it can stimulate senses such as vision, touch and smell. In addition, this study is expected to cultivate not only spatial comprehension, but also imagination, creativity and cooperation. In future research, we will study the characteristics and technical process of children in-depth to help develop early childhood education.

  • The "fourth industrial revolution" is changing society as a whole. Public innovation is needed to enhance national competitiveness. Amid these times' demands, the "maker movement," a new form of DIY movement that has revived since 2000, is regarded as a "popular innovation activity" that can respond to changing needs. In particular, "Makerspace," a significant activity area for the maker's movement, is drawing attention as a place where "Maker" shares each other's knowledge and resources, and share results. Makerspace has recently expanded its functions into a 'public innovation platform' or (preparation) start-up preparation space for start-ups. South Korea has also supported various types of "Makerspace" since 2010 as a policy for fostering an innovation base. The Ministry of Small and Medium Venture Business has been pushing for expansion of Makerspace since 2018 and is providing support by dividing it into "general rap" and "professional wrap" and "zero to Maker" spaces for novice makers in the beginning and necessary stages of makers, while "professional rap" is divided into "Maker to Maker" spaces for professionals. This study is about Makerspace, space where makers are active among the topics related to manufacturers. Thus, in this study, significant domestic and international studies related to Makerspace have been investigated so far, and trends in related studies have analyzed. Based on this, the research needs and specifics of Makerspace, which has recently expanded its role and functions. In particular, the Commission intends to present the need for research on Makerspace and specific areas of study from a start-up management perspective to promote qualitative growth of Makerspace, which is changing into a popular innovation platform in the era of the fourth industry, and inducing a start-up management interest in new manufacturing industry types.

  • The Changing Characteristics of Office Location in Central Seoul In recent years, central Seoul has been experiencing a dynamic transformation. In the process of reorganization of urban industrial structure including tertiarization and quaternarization of the economic base of Seoul, business services are growing very rapidly and large scale urban renewal projects are agilely implemented. Downtown office activities become a nucleus for economic performance of Seoul and high-rise office buildings steer the landscape transformation of central Seoul. Even though there appear to exist some evidences that office districts have dispersed to several subcenters, major office activities are still concentrated in the central Seoul. This paper redefines office industry in a narrow meaning comprising only relevant economic sectors and office buildings as office activity-functioning units. It then explores the industrial networking and territorial specialization of office activities focusing on the dual process of concentration and dispersion in Seoul. The changing characteristics of the downtown linkages of office activities in this post-industrial era transforms the spatial economy of central Seoul into more flexible and volatile, while territorial concentration of power and control functions are fortified at the same time. Finally, the paper addresses the development of manufacturing-tertiary-quaternary industrial complex, which can be regarded as new industrial clusters, selling cultural economy of urban space and possessing placeness or images for clients and customers, in relation to urban competitiveness and territorial specialization of large metropolitan areas.

  • As the technologies of the 4th industrial revolution develops, spatial information is becoming digitized. Now, even with a smartphone, we can easily identify the location of national & military critical facilities located in the mega cities. As a result, mega cities' national & military critical facilities were exposed to not only traditional threats, but also non-traditional threats such as terrorism, cyber hacking, and criminal activities. This study suggests a way to protect national & military critical facilities of mega cities from such threats. Considering limitation of time & resources, protecting perfectly all national & military critical facilities is impossible, so we should focus on their critical nodes. Specifically, We suggest ways to protect the critical nodes by converging some measures such as design & arrangement in harmony with the surrounding environment, underground construction & covering, and visual deception. Transparency of digital spatial information will further increase with the advent of urban air mobility and autonomous vehicles in the future. Therefore, in order to prepare for future threats, we should take measures to minimize the exposure of critical nodes.

  • Telecommunication and intormation technology have been conceived as crucial as well as revolutionary elements for recent and future social and economic development, and their development have led to a spatial reorganization and locational change of economic activities. Information technology has resulted in important changes in the organization structure and location of firm. This study draws attention to the understanding of the relationship between the diffusion of information technology and changes in firm activities with the special reference to the service industry of the United States. Information technology has had a significant impact on the growth and changes of the service industry of the United States through changes in the organizational and employment structure, market structure, and locational changes. The impact of information technology on location changes of the service industry shows two opposite patterns, concentration and decentralization. Among these patterns, the location change in the service industry of the United States reveals predominantly the decentralization tendency such as suburbanization and transfer to lower ranking cities rather than concentration. In case of Korea, however, it is anticipated that the rapid development of information technology may lead to the concentration of the service industry in Seoul and Capital region.
