  • To investigate selection efficiency for protein content and hardness in a wheat breeding program, two crosses were made between soft wheat (SW) ‘Chokwang’ and hard wheat (HW) ‘Lancota’, and between HW ‘Suwon 210’ and SW ‘Atlas 66’. F2 progeny lines from the crosses were separated into 4 groups as HW + high protein (HP), HW + low protein (LP), SW + HP and SW + LP by measuring protein content and sedimentation value in F4 generation. The subsequent populations were tested for protein content, sedimentation value, mixogram pattern and bread quality. HP group selected from F4 again had a higher protein content in F5 generation than LP group, but there was no significant difference between two groups in F6 generation. In sedimentation value, the significant difference was recognizable only between the groups of HW + HP and. SW + LP. Plant based investigation in F6 revealed that the distribution pattern for protein content and sedimentation value shifted from the low to high by the four groups with the order of SW + LP, HW + LP, SW + HP, HW + HP. Such a trend was most noticeable in the progenies of the cross between ‘Suwon 210’ and ‘Atlas 66’. Mixogram pattern that shows flour characteristics differed greatly among the groups, indicating a high selection efficiency for the traits. Bread volume in F6 of HW + HP was found to be higher than that of SW + LP, only from the cross between ‘Suwon 210’ and ‘Atlas 66’.

  • The developmental process of Paracolopha morrisoni's galls on Zelkova serrata until the emergence of alatae from the galls was studied at Chonju, Korea. The galls were formed from late April to early May, 1997 and the galls began to open in early June. The length and width of galls and leaves were measured during the period from gall formation to opening. The length and width of galls have been increased until mid May continuously. The galls stopped growing at 12th of May. Fundatrices (the first generation in the gall) began to larviposit from May 15th and the second generation developed in late May. The alatae of the second generation arrived at the final stadium, that was escaped from the gall, in early June. Thus, there were only 2 generations in the gall. The close correlationship between gall growth and leaf growth suggests that leaf growth force may have a great influence on gall development.

  • Since light curing composite resin was introduced in the 1960s, light curing process has been considered as an essential process. Herein, various light sources became available for the process. Quartz-tungsten-halogen (QTH) light curing units (LCUs) dominated the market until the 1990s, before the LED LCUs started replacing them in the 2000s. The LED, developed approximately 50 years ago, came into use in the dentistry field from the late 1990s, and the LED LCUs, with the 2000s. Since then, the LED LCUs have gone through many advancements to its current fourth generation. In accordance to such advancements of the LED light curing unit, the majority of light curing unit used today are LED LCUs. As much as its usage has increased, it is necessary that dental clinicians understand the characteristics of the device. The objective of this review report is to provide the history of the scientific development and describe the characteristics of the LED LCUs.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the multidimensional factors that affect the satisfaction of life by type of baby boomer generation. The subjects of this study were 1,895 households who were born from 1955 to 1963 among the respondents in the Korea welfare panel (the 10th year). The baby boomer generation was classified into four types such as gender, income status, male and female as socioeconomic status. The male type IV (B=.074, t=1.992, p<.05), health status (B=.233, t=7.268, p<.001), household income (B=.174, t=4.476, p<.001), depression (B=-.182, t=-5.242, p<.001), self-esteem (B=.255, t=7.027, p<.001), trust (B=.064, t=2.036, p<.05), etc. were found to have a significant effect on the life satisfaction of the male baby boomer generation. The female type IV (B=.100, t=2.598, p<.05), health status (B=.239, t=6.790, p<.001) (P<.001), depression (B=-.181, t=-5.142, p<.001), and self-esteem (B=.320, t=8.600, p<.001), etc. were found to have a significant effect on the life satisfaction of the female baby boomer generation.

  • Recently, portion of the aged population has been increased, and aging became the biggest issue that we will be facing in the future. As the aging population has increased, the silver generation is getting to account for the considerable percent of economic activities and becomes the main body of production and consumption. Although the economic activity of silver generation is increased, the development of silver contents for the leisure activities is still not revitalized. The serious silver contents and the easy-to-use interface are very important because the silver generation is relatively weaker than young people in perception, studying, and exercise, and is fragile in mobility and vitality. This paper suggests the Sensory 3D Gate-Ball game for silver generation's leisure and health maintaining along with the easy-to-use interface.

  • An Investigation of insect pests in rice stored was carried out in Jeonnam region of Korea. The total of 2 class, 7 orders 16 families and 25 species were recorded in Lepidoptera; 8, Coleoptera; 11, Orthoptera; 1, Thysanura 1, blattaria; 2, Hymenoptera; 1 and mites; 2 spe-cies. The important species among them were Sitotroga cerealella, Ephestia cautella, Paral-ipsa gularis, Poldia, in Lepidoptera, and Sitophilus orzae, Oryzaephilus surianmensis, Cryptolestes ferrugineus, Tribolium castaneum, Tenebroides mauritanicus, Attagenus japonicus, in Coleoptera and Blatella germanica, in Blattaria and Acarus siro Petrobia latens, in mites. • This study initiated with the intention to reveal the social consultations and fissures through a comparative analysis on generational characteristics by indicating occupation-related identities with the concept of social identity supported by theoretical resources. According to the three dimensions of social identity which are evaluation, potency and activity, there was more generational agreement rather than difference toward occupation-related identities. Among the 44 identities, only evaluation dimensions on minister, congressman, plane captain, farmer and potency dimensions on CEO of a major companies, professor, medical doctor, nurse, celebrity, shaman, unemployed person were statistically significant. For 'Leader and Professional', the respondents in their 50's gave high scores in both evaluation and potency dimensions. On the other side, the 30's had negative viewpoints while the 20's and 40's had neutral perspectives. For the potency dimension, the age groups were divided into the 20's, 30's and 40's, 50's; having the younger generations underestimate the potency dimension of such categories. Also for the 'General Occupation', 20's and the 30's relatively devaluated with more distinctive degree toward evaluation dimensions. For religion, 20's and 30's were positive toward buddhist monks while the 40's and 50's were more favorable with priests. For the non-economically active population, the lifetime cycle influenced each generations. When performing a two dimensional analysis toward the 'Leader and Professional' with evaluation and potency on each axis, the 50's highly evaluated both evaluation and potency dimension of such identities. However, for the 40's, 30's and 20's, the average value fell while the focus of the distribution deepened. The 30's had negative perspective toward the evaluation dimension while the 20's reflected critical attitude toward the potency dimension.

  • This study purports to identify the factors that contribute to the classification of age groups or generations of Koreans. Independent variables such as respondents' attitudes toward welfare, attitudes toward equity, education level, perception of inequality in Korean society, tax awareness, and health status are included in the model that were put into the analysis with the main interest. Since this study does not construct any hypothesis prior to analysis, the nature of this study can be said exploratory. The data utilized for the analysis are from the 17th year of the Korean Welfare Panel collected in 2022, and a linear discrimination analysis technique will be used. First and foremost, a theoretical review of the generational classification will be conducted through domestic and international literature in the past. To date, there is no quantitative studies in Korea that have a significant influence on the generational classification. Therefore, in this study, a theoretical review of political tendencies and values, which are estimated to have a significant influence on the generational classification, that is, the difference between generations, will be significant. The perception and attitude toward welfare will be discussed in the review of values. Next, analysis models, analysis techniques, and variables to be used in the analysis will be introduced. After
