From the reaction of phenyltrimethylsilylacetylene with lithium, 1,4-bis(trimethylsilyl)-2,3-diphenyl-1,4-butadene dianion was formed. The reaction of dianion with dichlorodimethylsilane affords 1,1-dimethyl-2,5-bis(trimethylsilyl)-3,4-diphenyl-1-silacyclopenta-2,4-diene. In addition 1,4-bis(trimethylsilyl)-2,3-diphenyl-1,3-butadiene was isolated. It seems to be hydrolized product in alkali medium.

The derivatives of 2-amino-4-methylcyano-5-methylsulfonylpyrimidine 6 containing chloro, methoxy, ethoxy, phenoxy, amino and anilino groups at 6-position on the pyrimidine ring were prepared from 2-amino-4-chloro-5-methylsulfonylpyrimidine derivatives 4 and tert-butylcyanoacetate. The derivatives of 2-amino-4-chloro-5-methylsulfonylpyrimidine 4 containing methoxy, ethoxy, isopropoxy, phenoxy, amino and anilino groups at 6-position on the pyrimidine ring were prepared from 2-amino-4,6-dichloro-5-methylsulfonylpyrimidine 3.

The antitumor effects of the 2E4 and anti--Tac, monoclonal antibodies directed to Il-2 receptor (IL-2R) conjugated with .alpha.-particle emitting radionuclide bismuth-212., were compared. The $^{212}Bi-2E4$ demonstratedspecific cytotocicity to EL4J3, 4, a I$L-2R^+$ cell line, than to EL4J, a $IL-2R^-$ cell line in thymidine incorporation assy. TEX>$^{212}Bi-2E4$ exerted the maximal antitumor effect in that % T/C in C57BL/6 mice implanted with EL4J3.4 ascitic tumor was 331% at the concentration of $50{\;}{\mu}Ci$, while that of $^{212}Bi-anti-Tac$ was 258% at $100{\;}{\mu}Ci$.

In order to identify the structural requirement at 4-position of 1-arylsulfonyl-4-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-2-limidazolones 3 for their cytotoxicity, the corresponding 1-arylsulfonyl-4-cyclohexyl-4,5-dihydro-2-imidazolones 4 were synthesized and their in vitro cytotoxicity against human solid tumor cell lines were measured. Unlike compounds 3a-c, cyclohexyl analogues 4a-c do not show the cytotoxicity. This dramatic loss of activity of these analogues on the volume change with the bulkier cyclohexyl group indicates that the planar structure at 4-position of 1-arylsulfonyl-4-pheny-4,5-dihydro-2-limidazolones 3 is required for their activity as an important pharmacophoric moiety.

Structure-activity relationship studies of allylamine type of antimycotics were carried out to evaluate the effect of naphthyl and methyl portion of naftifine. Compounds with 4-fluorophenyl(2a-5a), 2-fluorophenyl(2b-5b), 2,4-dichlorophenyl(2c-5c), 2,6-dichlorophenyl(2d-5d), 4-nitrophenyl(2e-5e), and 2,3-dihydro-benzo[1,4]dioxan-6-yl( 2f-5f) instead of naphthyl group with hydrogen(3a-3f), methyl(4a-4f), and ethyl(5a-5f) in the place of methyl in naftifine were synthesized and tested their in vitro anti-fungal activity against five different fungi. Eight compounds(3a, 5a, 3c, 4c, 4d, 5d, 5e, and 4f) showed significant antifungal activity against T. mentagrophytes. (E)-N-Ethyl-(3-phenyl-2-propenyl)-4-nitro-benzenemethaneamine(5e) displayed moderate antifungal activity against all five different fungi.

Bioassay-guided fractionation of an organic extract of the culture broth from an unidentified marine-derived fungus led to the isolation of a new metabolite, N-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl) acetyl]formamide (1), along with four known polyketides, 4-hydroxyphenyl acetamide (2), 4-hydroxyphenyl acetic acid (3), 3,4-dihydroxyphenyl acetic acid (4), and N-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]formamide (5). The structures of 1-5 were elucidated by spectral data analyses. Among them, compounds 1, 4, and 5 exhibited significant radical scavenging activity against 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) with $IC_{50}$ values of 8.4, 11.9, and $0.2{\mu}M$, respectively.

In this paper, an implementation example of Java based MPEG-4 system that follows MPEG-4 standard protocols in order to provide multimedia-messaging service is introduced. The multimedia-messaging service is a wireless LAN based wired and wireless service that delivers multimedia contents including video and audio information. A new series of three ring type liquid crystalline compounds containing partially fluorinated alkenyl or alkyl side chains together with fluorine substituted cyclohexylbiphenyls were designed and synthesized in this study. The structures of synthe sized compounds were established by 1 H, 13 C and 19 F NMR spectroscopy. The phase transition temperatures of fluorinated liquid crystalline compounds were determined by cross-polarizing mi-croscopy equipped withhot stage. All compounds were found to have nematic liquid crystalline phase with rel-atively low phase transition temperature and wide liquid crystalline temperature range. The dependence of phase transition temperatures on the chainlength falls into three categories; (a) decreasing transition tempera-tures for 4-fluoro-4'-[4-fluoro-4-(1-fluoroalkyl)cyclohexyl]biphenyl (15) series, (b) higher transition tempera-tures for odd numbered chains for 4-fluoro-4'-[4-fluoro-4-(1-fluoroalk-1-enyl)cyclohexyl]biphenyl (14) series, (c) higher transition temperatures for even numbered chains for 4-[4-(1,2-difluoroalk-1-enyl)-4-fluorocyclo-hexyl]-4'-fluorobiphenyl (16) series.

1,1-Dichloro-2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclopenta- 2,4-diene was synthesized through the reaction of $SiCl_4$ with 1,4-dilithiotetraphenylbutadiene in 50% yield. From the reaction of this silole with metal, an air sensitive red-brownish solid was obtained. Treatment of this reaction product with $CH_3I\; and\; Me_3SiCl$ gave 1,1-dimethyl-2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclopenta- 2,4-diene and 1,1-bis(trimethylsilyl)-2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclopenta-2,4-diene, respectively. From these results, the formation of reactive 2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclopenta-2,4-dienyl dianion was confirmed.

Although plenty of experiments for production of genetically identical twins have been reported, most of these reports were focused on microsurgical bisection of morula stage embryos, and little research has been performed for the production with frozen emb교os. The objective of these experiments were to assess the in vitro and in vitro developmental potential of blastomeres isolated from frozen-thawed 4-cell and 8-cell mouse embryos and to produce the identical multiplets from those embryos. The percentages of isolated 1/4, 2/4, 4/4, (control), 1/8, 2/8, 3/8, 4/8 and 8/8(control) blastomeres of 4-cell and 8-cell mouse emb교os which developed to normal blastocyst were 38.7%, 73.6%, 96.2(control), 15.1%, 40.1%, 65.9%, 88.3%, and 98.5%(control), respectively. The percentages of isolated 1/4, 2/4, 4/4(control), 1/8, 2/8, 3/8, 4/8 and 8/8(control) blastomeres of frozen-thawed 4-cell and 8-cell mouse embryos which developed to normal blastocyst were 35.6%, 68.5%, 100.0%(control), 16.1%, 50.6%, 71.7%, 90.9% and 100.0%(control), respectively. Normal 26 pups were obtained by transfer of 240 blastocyts developed 1, on 1/4 to 8/8 blastomeres. Those 26 pups obtained, 4 identical twins were produced from 2/4, 2/8, 3/8 and 4/8 blastomeres.
